The Queue: You'll watch this video at least twice
This is one of those videos you just can't watch once, ya know?
Boz asked:
Just a general business philosophy question: Has Blizzard ever provided the rationale behind the perks of the "Recruit A Friend" system?
I've recruited two seperate friends and both times they had a terrible experience as leveling was disjointed (mobs became green and gray halfway through a zone) and they had a difficult time absorbing all the new abilities in such a short period of time.
The teleporting and mount perks I understand, but wouldn't the augmented experience gains and level granting make more sense for the "Scroll of Resurrection?"
I have to agree with the old polarity of the aims of Recruit-a-friend. On the one hand, it is a wonderful tool that allows you and a friend to have an easier time questing together, moving around the world, and generally facilitating better play. On the other hand, you breeze through content because of the immense experience bonuses. Honestly, I think the Recruit-a-friend program's ultimate aim is to make it incredibly easy to get to "current" content rather than older content. It sounds a bit weird, considering that Cataclysm's 1-60 content is the new content, but this wasn't the case in Wrath.
During Wrath of the Lich King, the old world was still the old world, and common wisdom was "I just wish my friends could start with The Burning Crusade." The Recruit-A-Friend program, I believe, was meant to give that experience to players and to make it easier for existing players to get more higher-level characters faster. Multiple accounts are good for business, right?
Right now, though, leveling is already fast, even without Recruit-A-Friend. If you want your friends to experience the 1-60 Cataclysm content, let them do it on their own time. If you want a friend to get to the max level really quickly, Recruit-A-Friend.
ninjivitis asked:
Has anything been said about whether or not we'll be able to transmogrify heirloom gear?
Yes, heirloom gear is acceptable as a transmogrification target. However, the item loses its transmogrified art when it is traded, mailed, auctioned, or guild-banked away.
Jeff Field asked:
Is there any confirmation whether you can transmog a 2h mace into a 2h axe or sword? I know you can change ranged weapon types but I can't find anything specific on if you can do it on other weapon types so long as they are the same "size" weapon.
You can only transmogrify an item into another item of the same type and specification. The only exception to the rule is guns and bows, but transmogrifying a gun into a bow or vice versa does not change the classification of the gun or bow for racial bonus purposes.
snorgplat asked:
When 4.3 comes with the Deathwing raid, will he stop appearing in random zones and fireballing everything to death? I haven't been playing yet during Cata, but want to get the feat of strength before it disappears.
We don't know, actually. Only time will tell! Blizzard did also say that it would give us a month's notice before it got rid of the Ulduar meta-achievement drakes, and that notice has never come. So who knows? Blizzard knows.
Andrew R. asked:
Why are the farmers in Western Plaguelands holding pitchforks but "mining" the rows of corn? Did Blizzard throw them in there and forget to go back and change the animation?
how i mine corn?

Do you think Blizz will add the option to scale raid groups down in DPS/heals/health pools to something close to the intended level of old raids?
That way, instead of facerolling your way through old content, you could at your option scale your group to L60-62/70-72/80-82 power levels. So you could run AQ40 with a bunch of 85s who have been throttled down to a L 60-62 power level.
You could even call the (de)buff "Nostalgia".

Ok you got me. I did just watch that twice. XD
The song is ok. The editing is amazing. My inner TV geek is thinking how it was done--RTF Major.

Ladies and gentleman: The Pandaren Racial dance!

Playable Pandarens who have a swing dance animation might be the only thing that would convince me to buy another expansion.

The Plaguelands have corn monsters that throw corn cobs at you. I wouldn't send farmers in there without pitchforks either.

Question for the Queue:
Did Blizzard ever give any indication prior that they were removing Dungeon Set 1 gear, or did they ever provide the rationale behind the decision?
In the same vein, did they indicate that they would be removing The Eye of Divinity (Benediction) and Ancient Petrified Leaf (Rhok'Delar) quest drops from Molten Core?
I'm having a hard time coming up with a logical reason why they would do either.
Scunosi Sep 3rd 2011 2:14PM
I remember knowing that the Leaf and such would be removed since they said basically "no more class quests," which apparently meant they even had to get rid of the ones that already existed. Not sure why, not like it'd take any effort to leave someone's hard work in, though perhaps some of the level shifting of zones and a few of the old upper-end dungeons affected it.
As for the Dungeon Set 1 I had no idea 'til after Cataclysm that they'd removed those as well. Luckily I'd farmed my set and the upgrade out of boredom pre-expac, but I was still kind of surprised they went. I guess they were also considered class quests since the gear/upgrade quests were class specific?
Drakkenfyre Sep 3rd 2011 2:26PM
Leaf still drops. In fact, the quiver is one of the last quivers you can still get in-game.
Drakkenfyre Sep 3rd 2011 2:29PM
Double-checked, people on Wowhead are reporting it no longer drops. This is odd, considering I saw people reporting it still dropped after 4.0.3.
It was like one of the only class quests that wasn't removed. Now it's reported it was removed, too.
Boobah Sep 3rd 2011 4:37PM
We knew that the first dungeon sets were being removed because they told us when they mentioned that the levels of the dungeons where they dropped were changed; it wasn't appropriate for Scholomance to drop level 50+ gear when it no longer had level 50+ mobs. The pieces of those sets that drop in dungeons that weren't releveled still drop there.
The dungeon set 2 (and Benediction/Rhok'delar) also fell victim to the quest/world revamp. The only reason Thunderfury can still be obtained is because Silithus never really got its revamp. All of this was known weeks if not months ahead of time, if you knew where to look. Like, say, here.

Q for whoever has an answer:
Is there an addon which allows you to compare an item you have vs an item you don't have? I do have PAWN but it doesn't show me how an item from a recipe or from Atlas loot compares stat wise with what I have.
I like the Wowhead tool on their website, but while playing it seems to slow my computer down.
Any suggestions or comments of "that kind of addon doesn't exist"?
Matchu Sep 3rd 2011 3:03PM
Ratingbuster can be configured to work quite well with Atlas/Atlasloot:

How is it fair that a hunter could switch from a gun to a bow because they like the way the bow looks but want the guns racial bonus but any other class that has a weapon type bonus can't do the same? What if I want to keep my 2h sword for the bonus but I want to use an axe?
It's the same concept and I don't think one type should be the exception.
Shinae Sep 3rd 2011 3:17PM
In my opinion, it has a lot to do with the sounds involved. Yes, melee weapons have different noises depending on the type, but they are not as obvious and frequent as hunter weapons.
I know hunters who are very particular about whether their weapon is going BLAM-BLAM! or plunk-plunk. :)

Go watch this video.

Now imagine that for 85 levels.

I think we're just whinier and more particular about it.

EidlonImp Sep 4th 2011 2:25PM
I'm fairly certain this is a tchnology limit. making ranged weapons interchangeable has no real consequence, but they might not be able set it so 1h weapons cannot be mogged into 2h, or vice versa.
make sense?
