I think you meant the pre-Ulduar meta drakes, unless I missed something big recently.

If I recall, the t7 meta drakes were just removed when Ulduar came out, with no prior notice that this is a thing that would be happening. A Blue said a bit later that, when the time comes to remove the Ulduar drakes (and presumably any future meta mounts), that players would be given at least one months notice.

T7 drakes were removed without notice and they regretted it and wanted to give "months notice" to ulduar drakes (which would mean the first time that they would tell that patch is coming in month). However they never announced it nor removed the drakes (thus not announcing it..). Only removed achi mounts were from ToC heroic (10m 50 tries and 25m 50 tries no deaths).

The point is that, like the Ulduar drakes, even if Blizzard said they planned to remove something, they might change their mind and not remove it.

@Ice: I would consider PTR patch notes saying "Ulduar drakes are removed" as adequate notice (as long as they come out at least a month before the actual patch, and they usually do), even if they don't provide the actual date of removal.
