The articles are fun "what if" scenarios, but think about it, the entire game from 1-85 is built around the tanking-healing-damage trinity. All of the 5-man dungeons, all of the raids, all of it are built around it. Changing the paradigm requires changing the entire game; it is incredibly unlikely, considering how many people are attached to this paradigm.
So, I think the most likely scenario for such experimentation is Project Titan. That's where Blizzard can cut loose and develop a game outside the paradigm; no existing IPs to risk, no prior history to keep up, all of it can be fresh.

Considering how stupid the concept of Tank is I wouldnt mind seeing it gone.
Dont get me wrong, I love tanking and wish Enhancement Shaman(my main) could be tanks. However, a tank is someone yelling at the mob, saying HIT ME HIT ME. Meanwhile, people are throwing balls of fire at the mob's head, stabing it in the back and doing all sort of mean things.
