The Queue: What am I going to do with all these Green Proto-Drakes?

I am practically swimming in Green Proto-Drakes. I don't even know what to do with them any more! Satchel of Exotic Mysteries, please give me mounts that I don't already have. Worthless bags.
Edit: Because so many people are asking, the bad addon I am using is AdiBags.
Tfish92 asked:
How is it fair that a hunter could switch from a gun to a bow because they like the way the bow looks but want the guns racial bonus but any other class that has a weapon type bonus can't do the same? What if I want to keep my 2h sword for the bonus but I want to use an axe?
It's the same concept and I don't think one type should be the exception.
I see that you do not play a hunter. That statement is not meant to be mean or belittling in any way, but as the commenters have made note of, it is not about the look of the weapon per se but the sound each makes. Guns in WoW have a very audible sound that cannot be turned off without lowering the sound effects volume (which lowers all sound effects) or using an addon to suppress the gun firing noise. Guns are loud; bows are not. Each time you use an ability -- boom. Each Auto-Shot -- boom. It gets annoying quickly. That is why guns to bows and bows to guns is the exception to the rule.
Karcharos asked:
Do you think Blizz will add the option to scale raid groups down in DPS/heals/health pools to something close to the intended level of old raids?
That way, instead of facerolling your way through old content, you could at your option scale your group to L60-62/70-72/80-82 power levels. So you could run AQ40 with a bunch of 85s who have been throttled down to a L 60-62 power level.
You could even call the (de)buff "Nostalgia".
I do not think you will ever see this happen. There really isn't any reason for it. Old content is old. It's meant to be breezed through so that you get to experience it long after it is relevant. If you want to make a retro raiding guild or something and stop experience gain at 60, you can still do that and only get the armor and weapons available to you at that level. I do not believe Blizzard is interested in devoting resources to making old raids relevant again just for nostalgia's sake -- across the board, at least. Naxxramas, Deadmines, Shadowfang, and the two Zul heroics are the remade exceptions, of course.
With transmogrification, Blizzard is giving players a good enough reason to go back and do old stuff. Old content is by design, for the most part, meant to be easily accessibly and facerolled, not present a current challenge when there are already current challenges available to players in the form of new content. Plus, so many people will be going back and doing this content for old tier gear that you're bound to run into some fun problems along the way that will challenge you.
amoskeland asked:
Do we know that Blizzard reads different blogs about wow? I read the "kill the tank/kill the pure dps class" analysis and I wondered if Blizzard sees those thoughts?
Blizzard reads many blogs about WoW all over the internet, including yours truly. Blizzard people could be reading this right now.
@shadesogrey asked on Twitter:
What do you think is the rarest possible obtainable item in-game?
As of Cataclysm, a lot of the items that I would have said would be the rarest are long gone. Right now, though, I would imagine the rarest possible item to get that is available via trading or whatever is probably the non-soulbound Thistle Tea recipe from pre-patch 1.3 or the Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops recipe. There are probably rare recipes and items and such out there, but these two recipes are really rare these days and for collectors only.
But, really, the answer is Teebu's Blazing Longsword, because that never dropped, ever. EVER.
@Blackapodd asked on Twitter:
What are your thoughts on Firelands hardmode?
While I like the added challenge of hard mode content, I vastly prefer the Sarth 3D model to the binary button you press to swap the encounter to a harder version. Firelands heroics so far have been fun, especially Rhyolith and Shannox, since those are the only two I've completed. We've gotten pretty close on Alysrazor, though, and I hear Majordomo is sort of a pushover.
All in all, I like challenge and I like wiping to and learning new content. However, the binary nature of hard modes is something that I wish would change. It might be me just changing as a player, but I am cool with having beaten Ragnaros on regular. Would I like to see him die on heroic? Sure. Will I lose sleep over it? Nah.

I hear you on that. I've gotten two mounts from satchels on my DK tank so far.
Both times, the white polar bear.
...which I already had from WOTLK days.
At least I left them in bags on my bank. I can toss them to alts, maybe!

BoA bags - sending to alts ftw
edgeblade69 Sep 4th 2011 8:19PM
The bags being BOA is great and all, but the contents are not. So if you open one (in the hopes of getting a mount, pet, etc. that you don't already have in that toon), you're screwed. You can't send the now useless mount, pet, etc. to your alts. I personally think there should either be a preview that you can see what's in the bag without taking out the contents (maybe turning off auto loot does this, I dunno?), or just putting in a check to see if the current character has that mount, pet, etc. already and if so, make it BOA so it can be sent to alts.

If you have auto loot on, simply shift click the bag to open it and see whats inside. If its something you already have (companion pet, mount) simply close the bag and mail it to your other toon. You can also remove any gold or potions from the bag before sending, while safely leaving the rest of the contents in the bag.

edge: er, yes. Turning off auto loot will do that. Myself I have autoloot on, but usually just loot the bag while pressing shift. It temporarily turns off autoloot. Hence my comment about bags to my bank :) I mean bank alt, as the bags are still sitting there with two bears!

I've received 6 mounts from satchel across my various tanks/healers.
2x green protos
2x raven lords
1x white polar bear
1x blue proto
...Where the HELL is my deathcharger!?!?!!?
Eregos ftw! Sep 4th 2011 2:14PM
... 122 tanked instances since CtA came, and thus 122 satchels, one pet. That I already had.
I hate RNG

And a partridge in a pear tree.
Eyhk Sep 4th 2011 2:24PM
Wow, I've run Strat since Classic and Seth Halls since BC and didn't see those mounts ever, and now all you have to do is a daily random heroic? lol #whitewhine
Daeolt Sep 4th 2011 2:26PM
Lost count of how many dungeons I've tanked/healed since that satchel was released. Well over 100, maybe over 200. (across my healers/tankers)
2 pets. 0 mounts.
I already had one of the pets.

I farmed my Blue Proto and Ravenlord, and I got pretty lucky on number of runs
/QQ
Seriously though, the only time I see CtA for healers I cannot run a dungeon at the moment :c
Tank set hoooo
relmatos Sep 4th 2011 5:28PM
DPS have it worse. they just cant get the CtA so they have to farm mounts the old fashioned way.
Anyways, on my tank I got tons of Stamina scrolls, a few Armor potions, a handful of gems and several Flask of the Winds(only Flasks that have dropped strangely enough).
Hal Sep 4th 2011 6:12PM
Uf, stupid Greed Proto-Drake. To this day it evades me.
So far, my Satchels have yielded:
-Blue Drake
-Tiny Sporebat
-Tirisfal Batling
-More flasks, gems, and potions than I can shake a stick at
As I already had the Batling from running the Argent Tournament until I wanted to hate Tirion to death, I just considered it a nice bonus of 2k gold. I think that's what I sold it for.
I envy those who have gotten so many rare mounts. I'll continue trying to get them, of course. But I'm really getting tired of seeing the same gems and flasks so often. Heck, I mostly end up with Int or Agi flasks when I get one; you'd think Stam/Str flasks might drop at some point, but no. So weird.
Nathanyel Sep 4th 2011 6:38PM
The best thing are the standard faction pets, which are easily obtainable, even those from the other side. You don't just get nothing valuable, you get something crappy.
Hidendragon Sep 5th 2011 8:42AM
137 sachels (approx at last count) = 1 pet, ( I already had) 15 Intellect Pots, very usefull for my Warrior Tank. All in all i dont even take it into account anymore, i can earn the gold in 10 mins of dailys or grinding and with the bug that is someone drops and the reward isnt up on LFG you dont get it. my personal view = EPIC FAIL.
ZodiacDragons Sep 4th 2011 2:12PM
I have to agree with Tfish. I dont play a hunter myself so i cant really say anything about the gun audio, but bows and guns being the exception because guns are too loud just sounds like a stupid reason to let you transmog them but not let weapons be other weapons. As long as you can use both weapons, and they are the same size (i.e. 1h to 1h, 2h to 2h), it shouldn't make a difference.
Eregos ftw! Sep 4th 2011 2:17PM
Try playing a hunter with a gun. If you are firing, you probably won't hear your team-mates in vent.
It's needed, trust me. However, I would still like for blizzard to make it so that all weapons usable by a class can be transmogged to assuming you have the item. It may even happen in the future, cause blizz sayed there are starting with a lot of restrictions so they can gradually open it up more, instead of shutting a bunch down and upsetting players.
Gennifurfur Sep 4th 2011 2:38PM
As a former hunter main, I agree. I guess I just got used to the gun sound. It's not that bad.
Methuus Sep 4th 2011 2:46PM
Also, beyond just the sound aspect, I though the ranged weapon transmorg exception was also because the ranged weapons tended to be more specifically tied to various in-game cultures than melee weapons.
For example, a night elf hunter with a gun doesn't seem right; and similarly, a dwarf with a bow just looks odd.
But for melee weapons, the same stuff doesn't really apply. For example, there are examples of orc lore warriors with every melee weapon, and same for human warriors.
So I though the ranged weapon transmorg exception was also sort of a role-playing exception because of those closer cultural associations.
