I understand I'm probably in the minority, but I wish they had made Discipline a holy DPS tree. It seriously sucks that your choices for playing priest are A) be essentially evil or B) be a healer. A single healing tree would have made a lot more sense and made the class more fun.Btw, I really don't buy the argument that a holy DPS caster would overlap with paladins. Paladin DPS is melee.

Just cause Fox is evil doesn't mean shadow priests are necessarily evil. Our shadow spells are classified as shadow damage for simplicity, but if you look at all the titles of the spell they all have to do with the mind. I like to think of shadow priests more as psions/telepaths than evil. When you consider how they draw life from their enemies and give it to their allies, they are still healing, in a way, it's just different. =)But yes, I really hoped to see disc walk a more offensive path this expansion. I've mention the Disciple of Khaine from Warhammer during the beta quite a bit because it was a class that was designed to juggle damage and healing simultaneously by using the blood of their enemies to heal their allies. It looked like disc priests might take that route but after a few builds the strength of Smiting to gain mana back was diminished drastically. Ah well. =/ Blizzard will probably never embrace hybrid raid roles, only hybrid classes.

The Holy Light is the connection between all things. But some things are more connected than others; the strands can be severed. The Shadow is the disconnect, the breaking of bonds. Where the Light is altruistic the Shadow is necessarily nihilistic - but it is *not* intrinsically evil. The infinite vacuum of space is cold and dark and will kill you instantly through explosive decompression. It ain't pretty. But it is not evil.

I can see where JCinDE is coming from. Shadow DPS is very DoT-based, and the flavour of Shadow magic DoTs imply a lingering, horrible death (Shadow Word: Pain, Devouring Plague, Vampiric Touch). I know logically in the game all DPS takes place over a long period of time, and logically in the "real World of Warcraft" taking a two-handed axe to the face isn't anymore pleasant than an assault of magic. But those DoTs definitely make it seem like Shadow priests make their opponents suffer to their last breaths.
