The Queue: The addon was AdiBags

So many of you asked what addon I used for my inventory since I included a shot of a Satchel of Exotic Mysteries in my bag to brag about my dumb Proto-Drake. The addon is AdiBags, my favorite inventory addon at the moment. Why is it so great? Well, if you had read my Addon Spotlight article about AdiBags, you would have totally known about this great addon sooner, now, wouldn't you? You sure would have.
@DavidtheRamos on Twitter asked:
Why does it seem like the whole adding a race thing is poorly developed on the Alliance side? BE's and Gobs got better intro
I think that it is less of a poorly developed race and more the fact that Blizzard seems more compelled by and invigorated with the races it chooses to add for the Horde. The Draenei were, for all intents and purposes, a rush job because the other ideas for the Alliance race in The Burning Crusade were just plain weird and wouldn't work. The Blood Elves had a story to tell and many established patterns that Blizzard could pull from. The Goblins and Worgen story is already well-known; Blizzard was afraid that the Goblins were too plain and the Worgen too "cool," to the point that no one would play Goblins. Therefore, to stem the anti-Goblin potential, Blizzard went all-out and then some making sure the Goblins had a unique and fully flavored feel. This plan, as we eventually figured out, left the Worgen experience lacking for the most part.
@vicTORIrush on Twitter asked:
Do you think Blizzard is genuinely concerned with the decline in WoW players or is the drop really not enough to be worried about?
I think Blizzard deeply cares about the subscriber numbers problem. Why wouldn't it? This is its livelihood we're talking about here. The game is becoming more and more accessible to keep people around, not just to reward non-raiders and random people. I am willing to bet that the next expansion, whatever it ends up being, is a radical departure in terms of content type from what we are used to. Something new is coming, mostly because Blizzard wants to bring in the old and new audience for a longer stint in Azeroth.
Every time a player leaves WoW, Blizzard is concerned. Our playing pays the bills. What's not to be concerned about?
Alex Ziebart asked me:
If we're fighting Deathwing outdoors in the overworld, how do you think Blizzard will handle additional raid bosses? Are they all going to be dragons or will they force us to the ground at random?
There are two ways, in my mind, the Deathwing fight can go. First, we could be fighting Deathwing in multiple fights that have us taking a break in between each encounter. At the end of each, we get a chest of loot. The aspects versus Chromatus could be one fight, then tracking down Deathwing could be the second, jumping on his back and pulling off some plates could be the third, and then finally grounding him and fighting him could be the fourth. It would most likely be a linear dungeon, unless we get options at the beginning of the raid to go for different bosses before starting the Deathwing hunt.
The second potential way we could fight Deathwing would be to ground him at the beginning, then chase him back to his hideout, fight some non-linear bosses there, and finally confront Deathwing himself. Honestly, I think it's going to be more akin to the first scenario than the second, but there is no way to know until the PTR hits and all that jazz. I do hope that the patch 4.3 raid is as entertaining as Firelands, though.
Everyone and their mother asked:
What bag addon is in the picture that you used for the title of The Queue?
That would be AdiBags, friends. It is my bag addon of choice. Didn't you read the first paragraph of this Queue?
That one Joey asked:
Aside from Scarab Lord, what titles make you think "Wow..that dude means business." when you see someone sporting them?
For me, It would have be the Magic Seeker because the guild i obtained it with has long crumbled apart and many have faction changed/server hopped/name changed and it's pretty cool to (usually) recognize an old guildy solely because of a title. I guess that could be said for any server first titles though.
I agree with Drakkenfyre in the comments: Hand of A'dal and Champion of the Naaru are two titles that required a lot of heroic experience in Burning Crusade dungeons that was all about patience and ridiculous group composition. Bloodthirsty is another good one, as well as any of the realm-first titles from Wrath.

I've only just started playing again and I noticed my character now pulls out a map when he checks mail or views his map.
Are there any other little polished bits added in 4.1 or 4.2 like this I might have missed?
Radioted Sep 5th 2011 11:12AM
Have you tried /roar-ing yet?
Jamie Sep 5th 2011 11:50AM
You mean they've finally added the much awaited Gnomish Battle Cry, hmm?
hairy_fedd Sep 5th 2011 11:58AM
Something that I find a little annoying about the new map function, is if you are fishing and pull out your map, your bobber will disappear and you'll have to recast. Otherwise it's a nice little touch.
Shuckles Sep 5th 2011 3:49PM
@hairy_fedd I'd simply have to look at the real life physics of that situation. How often are you able to hold open a full sized map while reeling in a fish? I know it's kind of annoying, but I can understand why it happens.

By far the best, -best- undocumented change was the flight points given dependent upon level. This is a -fantastic- quality of life change as you're leveling an alt or for first timers, I can't even begin to describe how awesome it is to say, level in Westfall but get some extra levels while in the dungeon finder, and go 'Hmm, I should move on to Darkshire after I train', go to the flight master to fly to Stormwind for something or another and discover that since you're now in the 20's, you already have the flight points within Darkshire, and up into the Wetlands too, holy goodness, this is -amazing-.
Having my pet out while Im on a ground mount is also a very oldschool bit of glee for me on my hunter main.
/roar was documented (they just enabled the old sound files that were already there but weren't attached to a command or anything, so blood elves and draenei just do their /charge noise) but Im pretty sure that the pet being out while mounted and the flight point things werent. Oh, don't forget that you can rearrange your characters on the login screen now too! (I did this on every single server I play on on a regular basis as soon as it was available.)

Anyone have any idea what is causing the gargoyle models to bug out and stay upright once killed?
I've seen it happen now on a few toons and it worries me...
Maybe returning them to stone?
robsmith77 Sep 5th 2011 12:19PM
I've seen this as well during my farming runs in Pit of Saron.
VioletArrows Sep 5th 2011 2:17PM
I've been doing the AT quests including Battle Before the Citadel, and it seems like only some of them do it. I still see some that fall on the ground. I can't tell if it's a bug or not. I remember when they changed the shade death animation to be frozen in terror when they died (god that was one of the creepiest things in the game) for a few months, then it was gone again.

"bug out"
Answer found! :) It's got to be some bug in the code somewhere, so there's not going to be anything we can point to and say "that's it!" It's just a bug. Kinda neat though, I saw that when I was in Hyjal last night. Kinda looks like they are curling up and turning to stone on death. I almost want it to be intentional, but it looks too bug-like.

I think there are two main reasons Horde races have assimilated better into the game then Alliance races:
1) Every Horde race already had a huge amount of pre-exsisting background lore and was already established as an NPC culture before they became playable. Although Blizz attempted to do the same thing with the Worgen, the Worgen were really only a few scattered mobs with very little background info with almost their entire back story being revealed in cata.
2) The very definition and nature of the Horde makes it easier to add races to it then the Alliance. In Vanilla they were billed as a group of nations that banded together only to ensure their mutual survival. By having the Forsaken as an original race it showed that not every race in the Horde even needs to like each other that much which opened up huge possibilities for future additions, like the blood elves.
jfofla Sep 5th 2011 12:44PM
Another reason has to be Blizzard's Horde Bias.
-Statue in front of Blizzard Headquarters Horde
-Blizzard Band Tauren
-Badges at Blizzcon II were all Horde, even though they asked Horde or Alliance at registration.
-During Vanilla Blizzard advertised a BG Weekend where the Dev Team would be in the BGs "Taking on all Alliance"
-At Blizzcon when the Dev Team was asked for an Alliance War Cry the suggested " Have Mercy"
-Finally, Thrall is Blue Eyed Jesus
RetPallyJil Sep 5th 2011 1:26PM
How can anyone say Blizz doesn't have a Horde bias? They have a fifteen foot bronze statue of an orc at the HQ. That pretty much sums up the situation.
liam.perry Sep 5th 2011 1:31PM
They decided that a 15 foot tall gnome statue was just unrealistic.
Stabaa Sep 5th 2011 1:36PM
So if they happened to have a giant Nelf then that would indicate Alliance bias?
Why don't they have a human and a troll holding hands so they can please everyone and prevent qq from the comunity?
Shade Sep 5th 2011 1:41PM
Blizz has "Horde bias" because their servers are actually fueled by tears, and the Alliance cries more easily than the Horde. Jaina alone covers at least 50% of their energy costs. 3.3 was basically free for them. They let Varian be a grumpy asshat because that giant chin also functions as a rain dish that catches all his tears, snot, drool, and other facial liquids.
Cephas Sep 5th 2011 1:57PM
There might not have been much Worgen lore, but there definitely was Gilneas lore. That's what Blizzard really needed to build on more than the Worgen curse stuff, in my opinion.
Noyou Sep 5th 2011 2:16PM
This brings me to ask the question: Was there a time when most people played alliance? Because right now it seems the horde doesn't need any gimmicks or "more special" treatment of their new characters to draw people in.
Noyou Sep 5th 2011 2:18PM
All the good lore is on the horde side- I will say that. That's why I am rolling several horde toons to check it out ;)
jfofla Sep 5th 2011 2:26PM
So why was I downrated?
Did I say anything that wasn't true?
Don't shoot the messenger.
