The Queue: Narcissism begins
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
The next few editions of The Queue written by yours truly (generally Mondays and Wednesdays) will come packaged with a very special gift: narcissism. A few readers came through on my spur-of-the-moment art request, so why not show them off, eh? Today's header image (which, as you now notice, is clickable) is drawn by Matt Krotzer, who you may or may not have seen in the comments before. He's kind of shy. Doesn't talk a whole lot, you know?
Andrew R. asked:
Do you think Blizzard will raise the level cap for guilds in the next expansion or just add more rewards tied to achievements?
I absolutely do think Blizzard will raise the guild level cap. New achievements for guilds, too. Blizzard's added this to the game, so I imagine it'd want to continue supporting it. Maybe it's because my guild has gone super-duper social/casual in the last expansion or so, but I actually wish the guild level cap were higher now. Guild XP was a really good incentive for pulling people together to do guild dungeons and so on, but once you hit the level cap ... the incentive really isn't there. So yes, I think Blizzard will raise the guild level cap, and I would personally be very disappointed if it didn't!
Amaxe asked:
I noticed when running dailies that my tailor mage tends to pick up substantially more embersilk than other characters. Am I just very lucky or is there some sort of Northrend cloth farming skill which doesn't have to be learned?
In Cataclysm, tailors have a baseline passive increase to their high-end cloth drops, yes. A tailor will, by default, get more Embersilk than other players. You can sort of consider cloth drops to be their gathering skill, so I think the boost is a great thing for them.
yous95 asked:
I understand that, as seen in the addition of the death knight class, that adding a new class greatly disrupts PvP balance at first and even in the long-term. Do you ever think that instead of doing this, Blizzard might, for example, simply add a spec to each class?
Ehhhh, this doesn't seem like something Blizzard would do, but I am speaking purely from my gut since we've never seen any indication for or against it. The topic has never come up in any serious capacity. I personally don't see any point to it, and it would be a hell of a lot of work both in the short term and long term.
In the short term, Blizzard would essentially be adding 10 new classes, no? If the new trees have to be sufficiently different from the others to justify being a new tree, it needs to play differently from every other talent tree the class already has in a very meaningful way. That is 10 new classes, straight up.
If your argument for new talent trees is that it would be kinder to PVP balance than implementing a new class ... no. Good lord, no. It would be dramatically worse.

Glad you liked the picture, Alex.

Every single topic! Almost every topic i click through to read, you are one of the first to comment on it. Always! It's like...Are you a machine, man!?
The Dewd Sep 7th 2011 11:25AM
At least he (usually) doesn't just post "FIRST!" like some sort of attention-seeking child.
MattKrotzer Sep 7th 2011 11:24AM
The Queue is posted at 11:00 Eastern every day.
I have a clock in the corner of my screen. When it says 11:00, I go to WoW Insider. It's not a science, really. And considering the reference to my lack of visibility, I thought it rather appropriate to be the first response. (Usually I wait 15-20 minutes to avoid that very thing.)

He just doesn't have a life, that's the secret
Revnah Sep 7th 2011 11:33AM
Nice drawing, Matt!
Billlop Sep 7th 2011 11:34AM
I dont mean to be rude (I check wowinsider more than anyone probably >.>). Just saying you gotta be a machine to post on every topic i look at! :P
loop_not_defined Sep 7th 2011 11:36AM
Or he works at a computer.
I know, shocking.
MattKrotzer Sep 7th 2011 11:37AM
I only ever post on The Queue and the Breakfast Topic, generally. Occasional responses on Two Bosses Enter and if Rossi has something particularly interest-piquing to say in Care and Feeding of Warriors, but that's mostly all I respond to.
MattKrotzer Sep 7th 2011 11:38AM
@Loop:
Crap. You're onto me.

"I have a clock in the corner of my screen. When it says 11:00, I go to WoW Insider."
He left out the part about the implanted bomb exploding if he didn't.

Does Eldoron ever say anything funny?
Or constructive?
Or of value?
I'm asking an honest question. Seems every time I see his name pop up, about 80% of them are blacked out.
On that note, WTB WoW-Insider ignore list.
Cataca Sep 7th 2011 12:25PM
....Is that a head in a popcorn machine? o.o
I knew you were a creeper MattKrotzer!

Technically, it's a paladin enjoying a bubble bath... but it's sort of like a Rorschach test, too... and now I'm worried about you.
Might've been a good idea for Alex to remind people what the impromptu art request entailed, now that I think about it...
Noyou Sep 7th 2011 12:47PM
Very cool. One of the first headers I have actually seen before it was a header. And yeah, Matt is a very quiet guy. So am I :p In all seriousness, Matt you should talk about your drawings more. They are very good. Alright, enough of this Mattfest.
DonNochay Sep 7th 2011 12:49PM
Cool. Looks like something I might have drawn in 4th grade.
On another note: MattKrotzer, member since Feb. 2011. Mind blown. You do need a freakin' hobby.
BigDumbFace Sep 7th 2011 1:05PM
A Rorschach, eh? Well, I suppose I'm a terrible person then because it still looks like she's swimming in a sea of tiny jiggly-bits.
tpiscaglia1 Sep 7th 2011 1:15PM
Good drawing. I still really liked the drawing of what you thought a hunter's tier gear should look like.

Don: Mar 27th, 2009 was when I signed up on my original account as "Josin." I very publicly transitioned that account to this one. For someone who trolls me as hard as you, I sort of expected you to be better researched.
Everyone else: Thanks for the complimentary posts from those who made them. I'm always glad to share my artwork, and I'm glad when it's well-received. Hopefully I'll get back into drawing regularly, and have more to share in the future.
As far as talking about my drawings on a regular basis... I get trolled enough just for commenting regularly, even when I have good contributions to make. If I started showing and talking about my drawings regularly, I'd get obliterated on here.

Who cares? There's only like 2 resident trolls and their insults hit like a limp noodle.
