BlizzCon 2011 merchandise pre-sale begins early
After last year's BlizzCon merchandise presale delays, Blizzard is doing pre-sales early this year. The merchandise pre-sale will go live on Sept. 16 for BlizzCon ticket holders and Sept. 23 for digital ticket purchasers. If you'd like to avoid delays like last year and have your stuff available for the con, it is advisable to order early.
We will have a gallery of the pre-sale merchandise available as soon as the store opens up for business.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Look at what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!
We will have a gallery of the pre-sale merchandise available as soon as the store opens up for business.

Time to give Blizzard more of my money... and the worst part is that I don't mind.

I'm in a predicament...
A. Get the Blizzcon merchandise AND go to the comic con here and see James Tiberius Kirk
Or
B. Choose 1 and drop the other... :(
My mind is hurting...

Shatner is Epic and God like.
Everything else pales in comparison...

I've seen Shatner at a convention before, he's quite interesting to listen to actually.

Hmm.
I'll consider giving them some pre-sale money if they give me some more pre-spoilers.

So I'm a DIRECTV customer and plan on ordering the PPV from them and I get the internet stream as part of that purchase. But I can't order the PPV until October 10th http://support.directv.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2861/related/1
So, DIRECTV customers are excluded from the pre-sale?
Starsmore Sep 8th 2011 3:43PM
That's what it looks like.

So what you're saying is that current DirecTV customers will in fact be excluded from the pre-sale. Ah, I remember this tune from last year when existing DTV customers were almost excluded because the website wouldn't allow them to sign up in time and the reps over the phone wouldn't/couldn't do it until the very last minute. It looks like this year they're not even going to pretend to give the existing DTV customers a shot at the pre-sale. So I suppose if the item you want gets sold out at the pre-sale... Oh wells, then... I suppose that's the price you pay for being a DTV customer.

It is the character goods they offer that interest me greatly. Hoping for some unique items. I would love for them to offer the beach towels again.

Not to be a noob here, but the pre sale: thats for people that are going/ordering pap-per-view?
There is some cool stuff there that I would love to order, but I don't want to pay the 40% markup on eBay for it, and it sounds like this presale is for ticket holders only
emberdione Sep 8th 2011 4:09PM
It's for both.
September 15 for BlizzCon ticket holders (this is for ticket holders who are actually going)
September 23 for digital ticket purchasers (this is for people who paid their $40 to watch it on tv or the web.)
If you aren't one of those, then you will actually never get to order the stuff straight from Blizzard. Also this means that those of us who are going, don't have to wait in the merch line.

would this be considered a pre-sale of a pre-sale? What the...

"...Also this means that those of us who are going, don't have to wait in the merch line."
Or carry around said merch in any number of other long lines at the con.
As much as I would love to get my hands on a Blizz poker set (hoping we see the wow themed one this year), I would hate to have to carry it all over the place for one day.

A list of items that they will be selling would help me decide if I'm going to pay *forty dollars* for a webstream of an event that is being liveblogged across the entire Internet for free.
I'm guessing that they aren't going to do that though. I'm not going to pay them for the privilege of perhaps maybe buying something that I might like.
datgrl Sep 8th 2011 5:52PM
Interesting choice of dates. As a DirectTV subscriber, I can't buy until 10/9 or 10/10.
Amaxe Sep 8th 2011 10:27PM
Didn't they have some huge screw up last year on this, or am I vaguely remembering something unrelated?
almoderate Sep 23rd 2011 2:47PM
You're not wrong.
The presale started and existing DTV customers were still unable to order the event off of the website. And if you called, the CS reps had no idea what you were talking about. It did eventually get cleared up, but not until after hours of frustration.
Lesson learned: existing DTV customers should just order the Internet stream and skip giving DTV any money for this.
