Breakfast Topic: Holy moly, can you believe we forgot the Harvest Festival?
Oh my god, you guys. We here at WoW Insider totally dropped the ball -- the exciting Harvest Festival started two days ago, and we didn't say a word about it! Don't worry, though. It's a week-long event, and you have until Sept. 13 to get in on all the fun!
And what fun is that, you may ask? Well, this year's Harvest Festival is going to be better than all past Harvest Festivals combined. It's got a plus-sized roller coaster for some of our more obese thrill-seekers, Larry Bird's 84-year-old Aunt Tilda, an all-organic corn maze, not three but four hospitality kiosks, famed little horse Li'l Sebastian, and ...
Oh wait, wrong Harvest Festival. This is the one in Azeroth with absolutely no achievements associated with it. The one, where, according to our own Daniel Whitcomb:

So, uh, yeah. How are you celebrating the Harvest Festival? Are you doing the one single quest associated with the holiday? And how will you ever be able to stand the 51-week wait until Harvest Festival 2012 once this one is over?Yeah, it's a small holiday, and a weird one at that. I mean, you either honor Uther, who was a jerk to Tirion Fordring, ineffective against the Scourge and was betrayed and killed by his protege, or Grom, who betrayed the Orcish race to the Burning Legion at least twice, and whose clan is still one of the major sources of strife and bad Horde-Alliance relations on Azeroth today.

chrisdick, admit it, you only posted that to brag.
Bobby Earl Sep 8th 2011 7:06PM
I have 54 exalted reps and only 300 rep to go for 55. Also, I totally posted this just to brag.
Amaxe Sep 8th 2011 10:16AM
They didn't exactly call much attention to it.
Gimmlette Sep 8th 2011 10:18AM
I go get the free food on my low level alts.
Hairfish Sep 8th 2011 10:18AM
Pfffft. You can't have a proper harvest festival without a virgin sacrifice.
Amaxe Sep 8th 2011 11:37AM
Insert obligatory geek/nerd joke here
Grovinofdarkhour Sep 8th 2011 1:04PM
OK, so whose virginity are we sacrificing?

Here's a window to the past of this holiday:

Ha, I remember that, when the Honoring Grom quest didn't work for blood elves. I thought my noob friend was doing something wrong that she couldn't do it while I could on my troll. Turns out the only thing she did wrong was roll a belf. *snicker*
I think this is the holiday in WoW that has had the least changes to it since it was first implemented.

I dunno, I think Uther is a pretty cool guy. He kills Scourges and doesn't afraid of anything.

I was really excited when I first read this post, I thought "Wow they put a corn maze in WoW!?" Then I realized it was sarcasm and became upset.

Our guild is going to Celebrate the Harvest Festival by using it's table to set feasts and raise a toast to "The Fallen" on Sunday, September 11th. Beyond that, this holiday is stupid. It needs a face lift.
Maybe it could be like the Fire Festival and you have to tromp around Azeroth honoring fallen heroes. Or have ANYTHING to do with a Harvest other than it's set in fall. Like.. Go out to Westfall and help them bring in the crops?
Shinae Sep 8th 2011 11:43AM
Great ideas you have there!
I heard that someone is organizing a memorial service on my realm on Sunday, too.

Harvest Fest : I buy Green Fireworks to get 48 Darkmoon Tickets ;)
Yesiamzack Sep 8th 2011 12:31PM
Jerry forgot the Harvest Festival. It's all his fault.
Damnit Jerry!
jasonfelliott Sep 8th 2011 12:32PM
Darkmoon Faire tip: the Harvest vendor sells unlimited green fireworks which you can trade in for Darkmoon Tix. You can get around 40-50 tix through firework turn-ins each day it seems.
Amaxe Sep 8th 2011 1:22PM
Will it be worth collecting tickets before the changes (that is: can we hoard them for later?)
Greg Sep 8th 2011 9:30PM
Harve-what-stival? *Yawn*
VioletArrows Sep 8th 2011 1:23PM
What I want to know is, why does this holiday need an entire week? If there were some sort of xp or rep buff I'd understand (need to level Gilneas rep please), but it barely needs to be a normal weekend.
Moorit Sep 8th 2011 1:51PM
I honored Uther last year but never got around to turning in the quest. It's been in my log all year. Every time I fly out of Ironforge there's a little ? on my minimap, but no one there who cares.

The day Harvest Festival began, I logged in on my priest alt, got really excited, did the one quest, and then wondered where all the easy cooking level ups were at. Then I remembered that's Pilgrim's Bounty. =/
