Patch 4.2 hotfixes for Sept. 8

Guilds in 25-man raiding groups were completing the staff too quickly, making it easy for each guild to obtain many of the legendaries. Having multiple legendaries per guild, especially when moving into the next tier of content, is going to be a pain to balance, so Blizzard has put the kibosh on being able to reasonably get multiple staffs per raiding group. Such is the way of things. Hit the jump for all of the new hotfixes.
Hotfixes for September 8
Dungeons & Raids

Firelands
- The number of Smouldering Essences that can be collected from a single boss in 25-person Firelands on Heroic difficulty has been reduced.
- The number of Smouldering Essences that can be collected from a single boss in 10-person Firelands on normal mode has been increased.

Beth'tilac
- The hit points and damage done by drones and spiders in this encounter have been reduced by 10%.

Ragnaros
- Ragnaros should now be crushing fewer souls on Heroic difficulty.

Sunwell
- Kalecgos
- Kalecgos should no longer despawn when first engaged.
- The Wrath of Tarecgosa should no longer ignore cooldowns when a clone spell procs.
- The Wrath of Tarecgosa should no longer trigger melee procs from trinkets, however, it should still trigger melee procs from abilities such as Flametongue Attack.
- The trinket Variable Pulse Lightning Capacitor is now pulsier, with more lightning!
- Moonwell Chalice should no longer grant its mastery rating bonus when the activating player unequips it.
- The vehicle entered when on the quest Punting Season should no longer provide players immunity to fall damage.
- Scourged Flamespitters should no longer grant experience when killed.
- Subdued Canyon Ettins from Redridge are no longer capable of being led to Stormwind.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Look at what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

Funny how the Kalecgos line de-spawned after encountering Kalecgos the first time on the list.

If you look at the actual post, the first Kalecgos line is 3 levels deep and the second is 4 levels deep, just like how the description of the Ragnaros fix is listed under the Ragnaros heading. The mistake here is that Sunwell should be at the same level as Firelands, and apparently WoW Insider can't display bullets listed more than 3 levels deep.

Thank goodness about those Canyon Ettins, they were almost as annoying as a train set in the auction house.

I play Alliance and I never saw this either.
I did see the ettin despawn in the middle of taking the rock off of Oslow three times in a row so I wonder if it is related

It's part of a short chain in Lakeshire. Basically, someone's trapped under the boulder, and the brilliant minds of the locals are pushing from both sides...not making any progress. You essentially go up into the hills and mind control an ettin, then take it to the boulder and he pushes it off. Until this hotfix, you could mind control him, run to Stormwind, and have him stomp around. Lots of noise, camera shaking, etc.

The issue with 10m vs 25m was actually that originally they stealth nerfed both the 25m and 10m drop rate. People were generally accepting that this was a justified nerf to 25m, since some guilds were already working on their third staff, but completely unjustified in 10mans where it's still mathematically impossible to have even one yet (due to a lower drop rate of essences in 10mans). The change they put in originally meant that, by some calculations, the earliest any 10man guild would be able to complete their first staff was something like December 27th....by which point we would almost certainly be onto the next tier of content. Before this happened, people were already complaining that 10mans had to wait too long compared to 25s to complete their staff - and this just made it worse.
They listened to the complaints and feedback and reverted the drop rate for heroic mode back to what it was at the start of 4.2, They also buffed the drop rate in normal slightly.

You'll never believe what happened. I was reading this article on my phone and I fell down a personhole! I shouted to the street above and they had to get a fireperson to come and lift me out...was really dark down there, thought the boogieperson might get me lol. Was taken to hospital for cuts and bruises and spent most of the time in the waiting room watching Late Night with David Letterperson.
