Well, there have been 3 moonkin designs:In vanilla, no one played balance before 1.8 brought with it moonkin (using basically the tBC balance druid design early). The tBC moonkin design was really just bad. WotLK tried to fix all the problems, but could only really do so much, and Eclipse was something Tyler had to write huge epic posts about Eclipse probably once a week for the whole expansion trying to get Eclipse to be something functional (oh wait, isn't he still doing that?).We have a lot more tools now in Cata compared to tBC, and being a moonkin is a lot more challenging in Cata than it was in WotLK. So, the difficulty level of the spec increased, but it is probably overall a better design than either the tBC (spam 1 button all day) or WotLK (Random proc eclipse) models. Is it more fun? I don't know. What I'm really hoping now is that the next expansion will be able to better refine the current Eclipse rotation and make Lunar Eclipse more attractive during AOE phases. The future of moonkin always seems to be brighter than than the current design, and that's what I really like about the spec - when you started off as the worst spec ever, you have a lot of room to grow over the years!
