The Daily Quest: In review

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
Way back in vanilla, I remember questing with a friend out in Azshara -- well, maybe "questing" is too strong of a term. It was more like "murdering mass amounts of dragonkin and grinding out XP" than real questing. While merrily stomping dragons, all of a sudden we heard a zone-wide yell from Azuregos, a new outdoor boss that had just been put in. My friend, being the hit-things-first-ask-questions-later type, decided to run up and smack the dragon in the face. After all, he reasoned, it was only a dragon. How hard could it be?
This was when we both learned the valuable lesson that creatures with ??? listed as their level should probably not be messed with unless you've got a substantial amount of backup. Oddly enough, I kind of miss those days.
Today, we've got some posts looking at different parts of Cataclysm and sharing some thoughts and reviews on the expansion.

Today, we've got some posts looking at different parts of Cataclysm and sharing some thoughts and reviews on the expansion.
- Lume the Mad continues a series on Cataclysm in review with a look at the expansion's production quality.
- Blessing of Kings looks at the current state of endgame raiding and comes up with a few suggestions for improvements.
- Jod's Blog looks at the progression of questing in game, with a nostalgic glimpse at the days where group quests were a necessity.
Hey, bloggers! Wondering what it takes to be featured in The Daily Quest? The answers are after the break, so keep reading!
So you want to be featured in The Daily Quest, but you aren't quite sure how to go about it? It's not terribly complicated to get featured -- just follow this list of guidelines.
- Keep your content current. If you're only updating once a month, it's a lot less likely that I'll find you when I'm trawling through the blogosphere.
- Use good grammar and punctuation. This is absolutely important. Run your posts through a spellchecker, and check your grammar while you're at it. It doesn't need to be perfect, but if your posts are riddled with words that aren't spelled correctly, people aren't going to be able to understand what you're trying to say.
- Keep it legible. Don't go overboard with crazy fonts or layouts. If the font is too hard to read, people aren't going to want to sit there and read it. Keep it simple; there's no need to be flashy.
- Write about current news. Did a bit of news come out that's got you thinking? Write about it!
- Network with other bloggers. A lot of times, I find new blogs simply by checking the links pages of blogs I've featured in the past. Take the time to get to know the blogging community, and share some links! A good place to go to get to know people is Blog Azeroth -- introduce yourself there, participate in the shared topics, and get to know the community. They won't bite, I promise!
- Write about what you love. If you're simply writing a small post for the sake of throwing a post up, it's not really going to resonate with people. Find something you're really passionate about, and write about that -- it comes across when you do.
- Don't be afraid to bring the funny. Humorous or quirky blog posts are every bit as entertaining as the passionate ones. Don't be afraid to inject a little humor every now and again!
- Link, link, link! Feel free to link any blog posts you make that seem like they'd appeal to people in the comments section of The Daily Quest. Ignore the downvoting -- I like seeing people link their blogs here. I encourage it. I won't see you otherwise!
- Email me. Got a new blog that you're passionate about? Email the link to me! I don't bite, either.
- Don't get wrapped up with being linked. Don't be concerned with being linked; be concerned with what you are writing and making it the best possible stuff you can write.

I remember my first World PvP boss... a very large dragon in Elwynn Forest several years ago. Four of my guildies and I went charging in there, but before we could sacrifice our lives attempting to down the boss, we were all slain by a large group of Alliance. Then they killed us again. And maybe even a third time. It was somewhere around this point that I elected to rez at the graveyard and heart home.

Check out my recent article: What Kind of WoWer are you now? at http://healbot.net/kind-wower/
Interesting look at the history of raiding and playing, and the current state of the game. I learned a lot from writing it and discussion it in the community.
Cheers,
Gina (healbot.net - not the addon, it's a healing blog!)

Anne, I always enjoy when you reminisce about your past in WoW. It gives us a window to what things were like back then. Or they make us nostalgic, as well.
Maybe someday I'll start a blog. Goodness knows I get lots of ideas from the discussions found on WoW Insider.

I clicked on Lume the Mad and saw the top article was an "I'm done with WoW" article.

Not only done, it's almost a ragequit complete with longwinded rant, game deletion and screenshots.

Didn't seem like a ragequit to me though I had never read his blog before today. It seemed more like a "there's nothing more for me here."
But again, others may know his blog better and say "yep, that was a ragequit."
