New music section launches on Blizzard community site

So far, the new feature offers a convenient embed of the iTunes storefront to make it easier to find, preview, and buy songs (or full albums) from World of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo. Additionally, the section offers history, credits, and photos for those interested in reading about the creation of the music. Albums for newer games are especially detailed, with forwards from some of the composers and notes for individual songs. Currently, there are 10 albums in total and one single from Diablo 3.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go find out if that track from that Night Elf island in the Ghostlands is available. Best music in the game, I tell you!

I'm know I'm buying Lament of the Highborne.

I just want to have the Operation: Gnomeregan music. Blizzard didn't put it on the Cataclysm soundtrack, and hasn't made it available any other way. Why won't they let me give them money?
Parrin Sep 12th 2011 1:41PM
Agreed. Operation: Gnomeregan is my favorite music from the entire game. Would love to pay Blizz a buck for that track.
Leviathon Sep 12th 2011 1:50PM
No it's in the files still.

Choice A.
Use an .MPQ extractor, and extract the file yourself.
Choice B.
Go here, and rip it.

Yessss. I wish that island track were used elsewhere; it really is amazing.
Starlin Sep 12th 2011 1:22PM
This is a great resource for music. But I want more. There are tons of unreleased tracks!
Bryan Dare Sep 12th 2011 2:31PM
Yes! I'm still waiting for an mp3 of the song that plays in some (all?) Alliance settlements in Outland. It's the one that sounds all somber and noble, sort of an ode to the glory and sacrifice of the Alliance Expedition. Or... something like that. I'm bad at explaining such things, but that is my favorite piece of music in the game. I NEED IT!!
Bryan Dare Sep 12th 2011 2:44PM
Aha, this one, especially around 2:40:

Oooo, the Honor Hold track was released on their Mosaic album that they sell at Blizzcon. Dunno why they haven't made it available on iTunes yet.

I haven't been to that island in forever, so now I'll need to pay a visit.
The best music I've heard in WoW was the fairy dragons at the mushroom ring. I just saw the event last night for the first time, and the music gave me goosebumps! (I know I could have watched it on Youtube earlier, but I wanted to wait to see and hear it in game for myself.)
Maybe I think that music is so awesome because it's still so new. There's a lot of great music in WoW, but most of it I've heard so often that it has lost some luster.
After I saw the fairy-ring event, I traveled to the Plain of Echoes, a small subzone in Storm Peaks that has a rarely heard and beautiful sountrack.
I really need to get one of those addons that acts as a jukebox of all the music files of WoW.

Could I get a link to the dragon circle mushroom ring thing you Were talking about? I can't log onto wow so I army go and check in-game.
Shinae Sep 12th 2011 4:00PM
There was an article about the fairy circle just posted last night on this site.
You'll find a video of the event there:

Even if you could log into WoW, it may take several hours before you see it happen.

I swear I hear the music from Ashenvale in tv shows all the time.
J.D. Sep 12th 2011 1:36PM
That would be "Temple of the Moon", track # 19 on the Taverns of Azeroth album that was released on iTunes during BC.
Oreet Sep 12th 2011 1:44PM
Best music is the flute music in Sholazar Basin.
Twowolves Sep 12th 2011 1:45PM
Don't you mean blood elf music in the Ghostlands?
My favorite piece is the flute music you hear when you used enter the Barrens. It's used elsewhere in the game as well. I loved how it blended with the sound of the blowing wind.
jfofla Sep 12th 2011 3:56PM
No, there is an Island with Night Elves
Hypersky Sep 12th 2011 1:46PM
My favorire is Angrathar's Shadow (didn't know what it was called before this site). Such a great movie-like track.
Leviathon Sep 12th 2011 1:48PM
It's called that in the game files as well.
