So far, the final raid of
Cataclysm looks like it is shaping up to be one of the most epic tiers of content we have experienced yet.
Warriors and
warlocks have gotten previews of their new armor sets coming in
patch 4.3, as well as associated transmogrification-centric retrospectives on their previous armor iterations. Druids,
your time is now. Sadly, the armor set does not yet have its associated name.
We originally surmised that the druid armor would be based on the green dragon aspect Ysera, as the warrior tier was based on an aspect. Looks like we were wrong-ish. Druid tier 13 looks great, somewhat inspired by the world tree Nordrassil, and I'm sure all of the resto druids who actually get to see it most of the time will be very, very happy. I cannot wait to see what it looks like on a Troll, to be honest.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Look at what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

Meh, I quite like the Plate Skirt/Dress/Kilt/whatever thing. Is a nice change.
Anyhow, we (paladins) are likely due a Leggings set anyway. Tier gear (since Tier 7) has prety much rotated between Leggings and not-Leggings, and 12 was Dressy.
As it stands we've had more Leggings than Kilts, so a bit more bias the other way wouldn't go amiss.
For reference:
Leggings Tiers: 1,3,4,5,6,7,9,11
Skirts Tiers: 2,8,10,12
All the Dungeons Sets and offsets (ZA, AQ) were Leggings as well.

Finally a neat looking druid tier set in Cataclysm!
Where you might actually have the headpice turned on.. (havent had decent headgear since tier9...)

Is what people don't like that the shoulders are not HUGE? I am really happy with this set because it is not some over the top thing like T11 and the horrific T12. A good set is one that looks cool, bigger is not always better. I think I can see from fan reactions to this set why the art team seems to gravitate toward more outrageous costumes over time.

I'm not sure this will look so good on my male druid.
Oh well, I'm glad I'm not planning to play him much the rest of the expansion anyway.

I'm just going to guess that these are called the "Deep Earth Vestments."
Draykin Sep 13th 2011 3:24PM
I was actually about to post that.
Yes, for those who don't know, the name is under the picture.
B1ue Sep 13th 2011 3:42PM
And three comments right in a row make me think that was something edited in later, not aprt of the original post. Maybe next pass, they'll increase the font size.
Though going off what Arrohon says down below, "Deep Earth Vestments" does sound more like something shaman would come up with (and resto shaman at that). The mushrooms are clear indications that yeah, that's what they're calling it, but I do wonder why. NPC Druids weren't involved against the Maelstrom or in Deepholm at all, that was the Earthen Ring's show.
Eh, maybe they'll get a set based off Therazane. Strange inspiration aside, I do like the look of this set. It's detailed while still looking clean, and the colors are pleasing.

Actually, the name wasn't there when this was first posted. Good that it was added in though, now just need the design blurb.
The Dewd Sep 13th 2011 4:20PM
I don't recall anything in Deepholm looking anything like that. I'm guessing they're taking "deep earth" literally and, as has been suggested, based the look off Nordrassil itself - which I'm ok with.

I found this guide called Warcraft Formula that was a great help when I played. Here is the link http://3f64crhf1ius4tchjmknyf-gq7.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=12Z

If anybody's thinking about clicking that, don't.
Arrohon Sep 13th 2011 3:26PM
If you look directly under the image on the original site there's a line of text that says Deep Earth Vestments. I believe that is the name. It sounds like the name of a tier set even though it sounds better suited to a shaman set.

My experience in life has earth, when not capitalized to mean the planet, meaning more soil and fertile dirt than rock and stone, so I can see where the developers were going with it.
B1ue Sep 13th 2011 3:50PM
I agree with you on the name, and upon reflection, wonder if the name and design is in reference to Mauradon.
Eros Sep 13th 2011 3:35PM
What a wonderful improvement over tier 12 (which is the only druid tier set that i outright hate) it reminds me of tiers 8s level of detail with tier 5s theme.
Luci Sep 13th 2011 3:37PM
Meh. The helm is weak. The shoulders could have been amped up a bit as well.
Boreddruid Sep 13th 2011 5:53PM
Says in the preview "Deep Earth Vestments"

Maybe not as cool as the warrior T13, but certainly better than the warlock set. And for those of you who call this set bland, go onto the blizzard site and look at the full size image. You might change your toon.
Personally, I like this set. It's very subtle, which we havent had much of for tier sets in the past. Its also the only set that actually LOOKS like a druid set, and yet doesnt have the antlers! Woot!
Its also interesting to note the previous Know Your Lore article concerning the presence of the emerald dream in tirisfal glades. The dark green, foresty look combined with the luminescent mushrooms makes me wonder if we'll have some of those questions answered in the upcoming patch.
Angus Sep 13th 2011 6:36PM
Hey guys, let's show the tier in reverse alphabetical order!
"Sure"
Okay, we got warriors and warlike done, who's next?
"Shaman"
What class is that? We even do that one?
Let's go alphabetical now!
Being a shaman feels like being in an abusive relationship sometimes. Glad my warrior is 85 now.
Fletcher Sep 14th 2011 4:33AM
I think that extrapolating "they're releasing them in reverse alphabetical order!" from two data points was a mistake. If they'd previewed, oh, mages and then warlocks first, would you have assumed that the third would be priests (because they're all clothies)?
