The Queue: I don't know

This first question is a great one; I love finds like these. They're done through really legitimate sites like Wowhead and MMO-Champion. It's stuff like this that makes you scratch your head and wonder what the designers were really thinking.
Or rather, what they were drinking.
I hear it's coffee and gin.
Jamie asked:
Was was this http://www.wowhead.com/spell=32420/old-crappy-mcweaksauce all about?
Wow. I have absolutely no idea. I'm throwing this out there in hopes that someone else does. I've pinged a couple people I know about; we'll see if they get back to me in time for publication.
Peebers asked:
How much is there to do around town if I'm in town for BlizzCon?
There's Disney right next door and just a ton of other stuff to do and see. A lot of our staff stay out there for a week.
And of course, there's our reader meetup ... oh, wait. I'm not supposed to talk about that yet ... Um ... Ignore this, Dan! /wink /nod /innocent whistle
(We'll have a big announcement very soon.)
Zenotho asked:
Did the 4.1 nerf to the gold amount looted from soloable raid bosses include a nerf to Flame Leviathan's engineering "skinning" drops? Can Flame Levi still be "skinned" by engineers to obtain Mekgineer's Chopper/Mechanohog loot such as the Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe and the Goblin Machined Piston? I haven't seen any drop from his skin in weeks and they are no longer on his skinning loot list on Wowhead.
I actually just did this and there was no engineering skin/loot/whatever you want to call it. It must have been hotfixed out (or in a patch note that I'm not remembering).
Udderpowered asked:
Are death knights now a finite resource as the LK is dead?
In terms of game mechanics, no.
In terms of lore, death knights are created during the time the Lich King is still alive; remember that the story (and time, for the most part) progresses as you move through the expansions. So in loreland, the Lich King is still kickin' until the death knights hit Dalaran, when they learn he's dead.
Logan Holisky asked:
What do you think Blizzard will do about some of the unfinished plot lines?
No MMO or author is ever perfect with wrapping up unfinished plot lines/holes. I'm sure that Blizzard will leave enough dangling. But for the most part, I'd suspect that the major Cataclysm lines will be tied up nice and neat.
Also ... go to bed. I know you're almost 21 and I'm yelling at you, but I'm telling Mom if you don't go to bed and get off Twitter.
Xvkarbear asked:
Is there a item like the Dalaran rings or guild shrouds that allows port to Shattrath?
Nope. The best you can hope for is the neck at the end of the Black Temple quests that'll transport you outside the entrance to the Black Temple.

Question for the q;
Ok I have a theory.
In light of Monday nights announcement of the future firelands raid nerfs, I was wondering if the next raid patch might be coming out sooner then expected. And that maybe the days of our "standard" ptr is over.
The reasons I am thinking this is;
A) Doesn't blizzard have in house raid testers now? I could have sworn that they advertised for it. Maybe they don't need us to test the raids anymore?
B) Didn't blizzard say that there will be a new Halloween event this year? One more meaningful to sylvanas's story line? I assume it is not in our files yet as someone would have data-mined it already.
C) I would think that at blizzcon, blizzard will want the next xpac to be the big news. While avoiding having 4.3 and the next xpac share the stage. (Of course it is possible that blizzard is not ready to reveal the xpac and that 'Mists of Pandaria' is a SC2 mod. Blizzcon could be all about 4.3 as far as WOW is concerned.)
D) Finally, didn't they delay the release of firelands so that more people could down more t11 content? If firelands was basically done way ahead of when it was actually released, 4.3 could of been worked on for longer then we realize.
So to sum it up as a question. Does blizzard actually need long ptr's anymore? Would it be possible that 4.3 could be released with a very short ptr?
Ok, just throwing this out there.
Happy belated National Video Games Day everyone!

Mists of Pandaria being a SC2 mod? Now there's a curve ball!
Grovinofdarkhour Sep 13th 2011 11:36AM
ahem
"could HAVE been"
That aside, you might be right. Bringing the testing in-house from the PTR could theoretically end the whole everybody-knows-all-about-the-fight-before-it's-released thing, and put a little of the "magic of discovery" back.
Just so long as they're still doing the same amount of (or more) testing, I'm OK with it. Buggier releases we do not need.

I can't really speculate as to all the reasons you suggested and whether or not they're true...
But, I would say I agree that it feels like 4.3 is closer than we may have previously thought. Time will tell.

On a mostly unrelated note, I find it highly amusing that Sept. 12 is National Video Games day, especially since yesterday I got to celebrate two years of being married to my wonderful Orc in shining armor (and yes, he's a warrior) and we're both avid gamers.

Or you just WANT 4.3 to be sooner than it seems....
Speaking of holiday events... Isn't there supposed to be new Brewfest stuff? Will Dark Irons still be invading Brewfest even though Moira and the Dark Irons are in Ironforge?
Ringo Flinthammer Sep 13th 2011 12:23PM
Activision has just said there will be two WoW expansions in the next three years. Unless a meteor hits Irvine, the next expansion will be announced at Blizzcon.
And the Dark Irons aren't united behind Moira. Do the Searing Gorge quests -- Shadowforge City is basically now Baghdad immediately after the fall of Saddam, with a nominal accepted leader (Moira), religious extremists (the Ragnaros-worshiping Twilight Hammer-aligned guys attacking Dun Morogh) and independents like the Thorium Brotherhood and that warlord in the Searing Gorge.

A) I'm not sure, but it's been proven that the player base is far more adept at breaking the game than the employees.
B) I believe it was mentioned, but many things get mention that may or may not materialize.
C) I would have thought that they would have waited for Blizzcon to show the Cataclysm cinematic, but they released it the weekend before. Blizz moves in mysterious ways.
D) They delayed Firelands because it wasn't done. It was supposed to be part of 4.1.
4.3 COULD be released with a very short PTR, depending how confident they are with the Deathwing Raid's programming. I'm hoping for a moderate-length PTR, to reflect a fairly lengthy raid instance. If it's a single-boss encounter, even in stages, or only a few bosses, like Firelands... I will be mightily disappointed.
4.3, to my thinking, needs to be massive. New 5-mans, an expansive raid, new max-level questlines filling out a lot of the story that's still hanging around and unfinished.
Scott Sep 13th 2011 12:44PM
A lot (if not all) of the Halloween stuff is in the game now... I've already listened to a couple of great speeches by Sylvanas and Greymane
Noyou Sep 13th 2011 12:48PM
I think 4.3 will probably need at least 3 weeks on the PTR. Secret raiders or no. I hope they do remove raids from the PTR for the fact that it does give those who do it a tactical advantage. Then again I don't raid so. One thing I was thinking about yesterday while doing my mage survey on the blizzard forums was this: They could be collecting data to make a new class. Well not make it but to tweak all the things you like/dislike about your current class. Just my own little tinfoil hat theory. Move along. Nothing to see here.
matt Sep 13th 2011 12:48PM
Those FL nerfs are serious stuff, it is the same nerf they did to 4.0 raids but BEFORE the release of the next tier. not only that but these nerfs cover the HEROIC MODES AS WELL! If they don't have 4.3 on the way in the next 4 weeks people are going to be very angry since there is no "hard" raid content to work on until 4.3.
I am willing to buy a really short PTR, there is just no other way to square the FL nerf circle. I hope so, I am bored of this patch, I can't raid atm and troll heroics make me want to puke, I have been in alts-ville for weeks.
Gwynedd Sep 13th 2011 1:24PM
I have a theory it could be bunnies.
jfofla Sep 13th 2011 2:12PM
I really hope Blizzard shocks us with 4.3 release without a PTR for several reasons.
1. There are no surprises in WOW anymore.
2. Is it any wonder players get bored with content they have already played on the PTR?
3. By the time content hits live, we have strategy videos for every fight.
Come on Blizzard, shock the WOW community!
Cambro Sep 13th 2011 3:29PM
Mortenebra, do you have a sister that's available?
Joseph Smith Sep 13th 2011 7:09PM
@Gwynedd
Bunnies arent just cute like everybody supposes,
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses,
And whats with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?
Bunnies, Bunnies, it must be bunnies!
.... Or maybe midgets?
Jamie Sep 13th 2011 11:04AM
Is there any reason why the joke emote is /silly rather than /joke?
I always thought this was such a /silly.
Ice Sep 13th 2011 11:23AM
On related note.
I've been wondering what is/was the "thinks you are son of motherless ogre" emote I've seen in the game only like 5 times? Its not on any list and I've searched wowwiki back in the time for ages and havent found out what it is. I've tried like /ogre or /motherless etc etc..
Ilmyrn Sep 13th 2011 11:29AM
It is, I believe, /insult.
exogenesis. Sep 13th 2011 11:31AM
That emote is /insult.
