The Classifieds: From Bad to Glad
This video was created by Bloodvein and Myndflame on behalf of Skill Capped. Cottage is a restoration druid gladiator who is widely known as one of the best PVP players in Europe. He'll be starting a death knight and going from a brand-new character all the way to Gladiator inside a single season. You can find out more at Skill Capped itself. I've watched this movie in its entirety, and I'm pretty excited to see where the whole series goes. Cottage is definitely putting out some worthwhile analysis, and both new and experienced players can benefit from the information.
If you decide you want to try out the Arena and PVP, make sure you take a look at Arena Junkies. It's a community site that's been around for a while, and many experienced PVP players post to the forums. While it might take some work to find the best information, AJ is definitely a great first stop as you're getting started with the Arena.
Random Acts of Uberness
It's when another player lights up your night with precise play, a wicked sense of humor or unexpected generosity that your login becomes something to remember. Share your Random Acts of Uberness with theclassifieds@wowinsider.com. Keep things brief (150 words or less, please), and be sure to list everyone's character names and home realms or battlegroup. Don't be afraid of sending an entry more than once if it doesn't appear; sometimes internet dragons eat email, and we'd hate to let that keep deserving players from getting their due.
Employment: Guilds recruiting
Looking for more? Send in your guild name, realm, a link to your guild website or armory listing and a sentence or two on your guild's focus (10-man, RP, late-night raiding, whatever) to theclassifieds@wowinsider.com.
Dark raiding Okay, I don't know why I think of this as dark raiding. It's just their name. Dark is currently seeking a few Healers and DPS for Hardmode Firelands progression. Our focus is mainly on raiding but we have an active PvP community. We run 2 official ten mans each week and several unofficial raids on the weekends.
Do all the things This guild says they do everything, and from the sounds of their advertisement ... they just might. Looking for something a little different? Spectacular Death (A-Llane) is a casual guild that goes everywhere and does everything in WOW. We specialize in helping the casual raider see those raids he or she wouldn't get to see because he or she has a real life. Family friendly, we have all ages, skill levels and game interest. We run everything from Molten Core to Firelands and are well known on Llane for doing unusual events. We just did a flash mob of Stormwind and Orgrimmar and have organized Halaa Battle Token runs. If your idea of a raid is a shadow priest tanking, you'll fit right in. We will never have server firsts. We don't care. We're having way too much fun progressing at our own pace. Head on over to www.spectaculardeath.net and read all about us. Server transfers welcome. We always have open recruitment.
New 10-man team This sounds like a great oppotunity to get in on the ground floor. Autumn Sun is a new guild to the realm of Whisperwind, and we're recruiting on behalf of the Alliance. We only formed on August 18th, but our core 10-man raiding team has been together nearly a year. We raid Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-10:30 and are 4/7 in Firelands. We are looking to get a second raid 10-man group going on a more casual, once-a-week schedule. More importantly, we're looking for players who want to experience a fun, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. Autumn Sun is computer scientists, artists, receptionists, and web developers. We are brothers, and sisters, and husbands, and wives, and parents. We are soccer, and basketball, and baseball, and football. We are World of Warcraft, and Portal, and Spiral Knights and Cut the Rope. We are friendly, and patient, and constructive. If this sounds like you too, check us out at autumnsun.enjin.com.
Oldest guild on server Long-established guilds can sometimes be difficult to join. It sounds like this one wants to open up its doors. The Highland Army of US-Dunemaul is the oldest Alliance guild on the server having been formed on March 17, 2006 and raiding ever since. We are 6/7 in Firelands 25 and 7/7 in 10 man. We are looking for healers for our core 25 man raids before we start Heroic content. Feral Cats, Locks, and Rogues are also welcome. Raid times are Tues-Thurs 4:30-8:00 PM PST. There is a Sunday raid as well from 12:00-3:00 PM PST for those who cannot make regular hours. The guild is very close with longtime members and friends. Our atmosphere is laid back in general but serious in raids. We want people who are passionate about raiding and who can comply with our guild's standards regarding loyalty, determination, and performance. Interested applicant are encouraged to fill out an application on our website or contact Akeron in-game or Real-ID Akeron at m.sinyuk@yahoo.com with questions.

US Kil'jaeden Horde are also recruiting. We are all young professionals with busy lives so we only require 1 raid night a week. Tues 8-11ish PST. We're progressing through firelands and have the first 4 on farm as we work on Alysrazor. Recruiting pretty much everything, OT, heals, melee dps. If you're interested send a mail to Raoras or Lalaria.

A question about nostalgia raid guilds:
My general experience in my occasional dealings with Classic/BC guilds is that they tend to be a little . . . Well, condescending of people who play new content. The ones I've met tend to treat it as though I'm bad for not staying in Outlands or Old World content. I wasn't around to see these raids at level and would like to do so, but my commitments and priorities still lie with my main's progression guild.
Are there any Classic/BC guilds that wouldn't mind if I only showed up occasionally and aren't going to give me garbage for playing new content? Kind of a "casual classic guild" so to speak?

It depends upon how you view us. If you come into one of our retro raids with the attitude that we are simply a means by which you can see content; that your i378 gear level allows you to run ahead and do whatever you want and not follow the raid leader; that you are, because you're L33t, entitled to whatever gear you say you want; of course we're going to look down on you. I don't tolerate that from my guild members, why would I tolerate that from you just so you can run older content?
In Spectacular Death's case, if you come into the retro raid with the spirit of fun and you participate in some of the silly things we do during a raid you could solo, 1) you'll probably enjoy yourself and 2) you'll be welcome back so you can see everything you missed.
Another thing to consider, these guilds give you the opportunity to see content you missed. It might be a nice gesture to give them something, say all your cloth drops or any greens you pick up or, let's say you're running Molten Core, all the mats that drop off mobs and bosses, instead of keeping that stuff for yourself. You make a ton of money running old content where your repair bill is 4g and change so unless you need all those elemental fires, giving back shows that you're not just using them to see what you don't want to be bothered assembling a group to see.
With transmorgrification on the horizon, you should be able to find pugs for any old raid. If, on your server, you're having a hard time running with the nostalgia guilds you've found, pugging might be the way to go.

If you're interested in running the content at level, then One Pt Two One Jigawatts might be a good fit for you. We raid classic and BC content, at level, with the restrictions in place to make it as much like the original way this content was run as possible. We also have a large number of players who raid current content, and no one is at all condescending or abrasive towards players who do so. We understand that people have other commitments, whether it be to another guild, real life issues, or what have you.
Here's our information if you're interested in looking further.
Server: Hydraxis
Faction: Horde
Guild: One Pt Two One Jigawatts
Website: jigawatts.guildlaunch.com
Officers to contact: Akanal, Ageny, or Sanaet
Hope you like what you see, and decide to app!

@ Gimmlette - I think you misunderstand me. I'm not looking to roflstomp AQ40 on my H-Firelands geared warlock. As you said, transmog has a lot of people going back to that content to farm gear so pugging it isn't an issue. But going in and soloing MC on my Hunter isn't quite what I'm looking for.
Retro raid guilds are almost non-existent on my server since showing their faces usually attracts all the Trade trolls.
@ Angel - I'll check your website out tonight, thanks for the heads up. I actually swung by there the other day, but iPhone Internet just doesn't agree with some websites.

I'm just responding to your comment about a condescending attitude. I'm bringing up some of the issues that might make a classic guild not inclined to have higher levels and higher geared people tag along. We used to have open server runs when we did some of our classic and BC raids with anyone who wanted to come along. I stopped doing this when we got people who treated us as I mentioned.
If you were nice and kind and polite, then the guild giving you attitude should re-examine why they will take higher levels with them if they aren't willing to treat them decently. It's my feeling that if you bring in someone who is in Firelands gear, they have just as much right to roll on gear as you do. If you don't want highly geared people, don't invite them.
It's too bad the retro guilds aren't welcome on your server. While generally on the small side, I think they serve a vital niche in the game. It could be, on your server, those who have allowed highly geared people into their raids have had bad experiences and project that onto you. It will probably take some digging, but I'll bet you can find one that will accept you.

Any MORNING raiding guilds, in any server, any faction? I haven't raided FL yet due to the hardiness of finding a morning guild. 367 resto druid.
PLEASE, I want to raid, I'm a dedicated player, I just can't do it at nights! :(
