Blizzard has been on a spree of
patch 4.3 raid information recently, first showcasing the new
warrior tier 13 Colossal Dragonplate Deathwing-inspired armor as well as the
warlock tier 13 General Vezax/Faceless Ones-inspired set called the Faceless Shroud.
Druids and
shaman also got to see their new gear. Mages are next up for a tier 13 sneak peek as well as a retrospective on the previous tier sets to showcase all the past mage regalia for transmogrification when the patch hits.
This new set,
Timelord Regalia, looks absolutely awesome, with crazy explorer goggles and a nice color scheme. Mage tier sets have always been pretty cool, in my opinion, but this takes the cake. I love the goggles.
Cataclysm armor design has been top-notch throughout, and this final raid's epic sets really bring home the weight of our actions at the end of the expansion.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Look at what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

Yet another reason to hate it. And unoriginal to boot, since we were already forced to cosplay him once back in T8.
Do not want.
Fletcher Sep 16th 2011 1:57AM
Apparently it's a reference to Time Warp rather than the Time Wizzard.
And I'm not sure why you're so dead-set against the T8. We cosplayed Rhonin? Come on now! Rhonin cosplayed *us*. Who was the super awesome mage who went into Ulduar and kicked Old God butt? And who was the lame-ass mary sue who stayed in Dalaran giving out key quests for Violet Hold? Rhonin only wishes he could be as awesome as us.

Headlights!

There needs to be a Fez helm added in Uldum for the specific purpose of Transmoging.
Because Fezes are cool.
Starlin Sep 15th 2011 1:08PM
New game plan. Transmog until I get a complete set of this. The helm and shoulders make this set.
Bhally Sep 15th 2011 1:11PM
I love this set, will look awesome on a goblin or gnome mage. I like how its so different from anything else we have seen in wow in terms of tier sets, good job blizz.
Reminds me a lot though of the Al Bhed from final fantasy 10.

Wow... I don't hate this piece of tier13, I might even like it, I think I'm in mild shock.
Though, Eberron Artificer gear much? (Magi-steampunk)
Vrykerion Sep 15th 2011 2:52PM
My first thoughts were: "Yes! I can be an Artificer!"
Zhiva Sep 15th 2011 1:10PM
WHAT is this with tier 13 and helms?
Pyromelter Sep 15th 2011 2:31PM
Would you prefer there be no helms at all? maybe we should all just raid without any head protection...?
lazymangaka Sep 15th 2011 1:12PM
I really, really like this one. It's just the right amount of fantasy with just the right amount of steampunk. This might be my favorite looking armor set yet.
RetPallyJil Sep 15th 2011 1:13PM
I'm still sticking with my pipe dream of pally t13 looking like slightly shinier Imperial Plate.
It isn't going to happen, but a girl can hope :/
Sunaseni Sep 15th 2011 1:15PM
Needs more belts!
Natsumi Sep 15th 2011 1:19PM
I know I'm not the only one that's going to be laughing at anyone in this set or it's accompanying recolor(s).
Let's compare shall we?
Warriors win the T13 Awesome Looks category, you can't get much more awesome than Deathwing.
Warlocks win the My Gear looks Like I Got It Questing In BC category, tentacles aside it's a clown suit.
Shaman get the Epitomizes My Class award, seriously, Blizzard nailed the Shaman class with their set.
Druids have the Blends Into The Background category gift wrapped for them, luckily 75% of Druids will never see their set (Cats, bears, and Lazer-Chickens). ;)
Mages win the Most Ridiculous Getup category, 5 guffaws out of 5.

Steampunk Mage? LOVE IT!! I hope those cogs spin. I'm gonna rock this set
Andrew Sep 15th 2011 1:26PM
I wanted to like this so much. As usual with this tier, the design is gorgeous and intricately crafted (my shoulders spin now; spinning shoulders are cool), and all the gnome mages out there will be thrilled. Combined with the brilliant name to match the blue-lit, steampunk design and it's an amazing set of gear.
The problem for me is that it doesn't feel like a mage set. I applaud their work getting away from the caster archetype, but I can't see anything here that would say "techno-mage" instead of "techno-hunter" or "techno-peasant" or "techno-Abesik-Camphire." It's so new and so unique I'm afraid it's lost all class identity for me, especially after seeing the archetypal druid and shaman sets. Will my own Crazy Mage be wearing this? Perhaps on occasion, but I'll be transmogging at least a part of the time.
Scott Sep 15th 2011 1:23PM
Predictions for the rest of the tier:
PALADINS: "Disco" (highly-reflective mirror plate)
PRIESTS: "Huffington" (smart business-suit with padded shoulders and a foofy bow/tie)
ROGUES: "Spy-vs-Spy" (all black or white - your choice - with zero detail and a pointy hat)
HUNTERS: "Spongebob" (do i even have to say?)
Scott Sep 15th 2011 1:24PM
Oops, forgot:
DEATH KNIGHTS: "Speedo" (just a simple thong, we already see a lot of this in Goldshire)
Matheus314 Sep 15th 2011 2:40PM
You mean:
HUNTERS: "Spongebobstalker" (do i even have to say?)
=P
