WRUP: Flirting with the nerd and/or nerdette of your dreams
Hey there, eligible bachelors! It's almost time for BlizzCon -- it's literally a month away. The lady of your dreams is out there, and she plays World of Warcraft!
What's that, you say? You're a pasty basement dweller who doesn't know how to score with the ladies? Well, you've got a month to learn. And learning is very doable when Kathryn Brown is on the job! Remember, eye contact! Never break eye contact. Ever.
If you've already got that sassy gal or guy in your arms, then that video is not for you. You may skip lesson one and head directly to WRUP, where our columnists answer this week's special bonus question: "OH MY GOD BLIZZCON OH MY GOD YOU GUYS IT'S ALMOST HERE WHOA AMIRITE?"
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) It's errand weekend. I have a driver's license to go renew, bits of things to pick up here and there, and the last teeny bit of moulding to finish painting for the kitchen. Oh, and I have family in town, so this weekend is a cooking weekend. I think I'll make some banana bread; it feels chilly and fall outside. Good for baking! I also get to interview Richard Knaak on Saturday for the podcast I do, yay! He was so nice to chat with last year. Oh, and I also have that SUPER AMAZING OMG BLIZZCON STUFF to prepare for. Eeeeeee, lookin forward to it!
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I have been on an RPG kick again, so I'll probably be finishing KOTOR. After that, I may give Alpha Protocol another try, or switch to Deus Ex. As far as BlizzCon: I'll see y'all in the line for playable pandas.
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I'll be leveling my rogue and DK, and enjoying my super-modded copy of Oblivion (OOO + Twin Spires + Gift of Kynareth). Maybe a little Borderlands, as well.
Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) (gplus.to/foxvanallen) After about a year and a half, I found my old PSP. So, naturally, I went and bought used copies of Disgaea 2 and Mega Man: Powered Up. Awesome, even if the former is ... inexplicable. McCurley and I are super-excited about rocking the BlizzCon meetup stage and giving all of you fabulous showcases full of prizes and stuff. It's going to be Oprah, where you all get a car or something. (Legal note: You will not get a free car for attending WoW Insider the BlizzCon meetup.)
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) More alt leveling! Getting geared up for the results of the Choose My Adventure and seeing what I get from the polls and leveling my Gnome priest while I wait. I can't wait for the BlizzCon meetup! I always have such a blast meeting up with the readers and hanging out with all the event guests!
Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) If I can drag my ass out of bed due to sheer exhaustion, I think I'm going to be picking up my DS again. Or, well, I guess I can technically still stay in bed with the DS ... As for BlizzCon, if it's even a fraction as cool as it was last year, I cannot wait. I'm the short redhead! Come see me so I can say hi and give hugs!
Mat McCurley (@gomatgo) (gplus.to/gomatgo) I am so stupid-excited for BlizzCon it's not even funny. This weekend is probably game-lite, since I'm trying to get out as much as possibly before winter hits. LoL and WoW are the staples as usual. I love the new LoL champion Riven -- she has awesome aesthetics and a really sweet late game. Anyway, BlizzCon is basically the best and I can't wait to meet you all at the reader meetup.
Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) More Minecraft 1.8 this weekend for me. Adventure awaits!
Lisa Poisso (@lisapoisso) Busy weekend AFK with errands -- and BlizzCon preparations! So many emails flowing with people who'll be joining us at the WoW Insider Reader Meetup ... Exciting times!

I find that showing one's vulnerable side can be a hit with the ladies. I'll typically walk up to the target of my affection, slowly lift my shirt and start crying. Most women are too overcome with my manly sensitivity to even speak!

@Anne Stickney
I has a question: What is the name of the podcast you do? I wish to listen in on your interview with Mister Knaak and such.
Thank you.
P.S. I shall be cooking bbq pork on skewers and maybe WoW related foods this weekend.

If I'm not getting things confused, Anne does All Things Azeroth, while Cadistra helps host Polygamerous. Both are awesome to listen to, if I'm not A) Stuck at work, B) Stuck doing homework, B) too exhausted to sit at the computer and join in live.
Both podcasts are Monday nights, with the added bonus that All Things Azeroth ends just as Polygamerous is scheduled to start, so you can catch them back to back if you feel so inclined!

@Rhüarc
Thank you. I shall listen to those as soon as they are up.

Anne is a delight to listen to. She will take on a wild description of an event in her life, and 10 memorizing minutes later, you still want more.

That silly teacher. Of course there's a perfect pickup line. It's "Hi. My name is Fox Van Allen."
Andrew Sep 17th 2011 1:01AM
It works wonderfully on women, even if he doesn't want it to.

I've always been partial to:
"I am the Keymaster of Gozer, are you the Gatekeeper?"
and
"Come with me if you want to live."
Not to mention playing "bad cop / worse cop" with your wing mate = win with the ladies.
Well... usually.

"Never break eye contact. Ever."
That's right. If you see a female, stare her down until she knows you mean business.
Cerebrium Sep 17th 2011 6:03AM
Don't even say anything, that'll ruin the moment.
JUST
KEEP
STARING
lolikitty Sep 17th 2011 7:00AM
Totally. Bonus point if she has already spotted you longingly and persistently gazing at her from a distance on numerous occasions.
lady.silverdragon Sep 17th 2011 9:20AM
While you're staring, you should also lick your lips. Do it in an exaggerated fashion- the more exaggerated the better. That tells a woman you are serious.
lolikitty Sep 17th 2011 10:25AM
If she seems reluctant to talk to you (aka playing hard to get), don't hesitate to compliment her on her chest, that should peak her interest.
Vitos Sep 16th 2011 10:52PM
Riven is the best. Just saying.
chuparex Sep 16th 2011 11:44PM
I loved the barking plesiosaurs, but turning around and seeing the little girl scared me every time.
Sarah Bee Sep 17th 2011 11:40PM
Give her a smiley face! Womens love smiley faces!
