The Queue: Hold it!
I was hoping that this week's Tokyo Game Show would give us a reveal trailer for Phoenix Wright in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but alas, all we got was Iron Fist and Vergil. Guess we wait for New York Comic-Con.
Jlhealy asked:
What ever happened to that WoW movie I heard internet rumors about ages ago? Just rumors, or is something in the works? What would the focus be, story-wise?
As far as I'm aware, it's still happening, just very slowly. Sam Raimi has other projects to work on before the WoW movie, and knowing Blizzard's development time on games and insane amount of desired IP control, it could be a long, long time before we hear anything about it. We certainly don't know anything about the story yet.
qwertyguy asked:
Lorewise, could the 4 other dragon aspects take down Deathwing in a fair fight? (assuming the aspects wont get chain CC:d by a druid)
You may want to read Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects if you want an idea of how combat-capable the aspects are. You should just assume that Deathwing has Plot Armor until otherwise noted.
Spectres asked:
The "Scattered Shots: Hunter class feedback" article that Brian Wood did yesterday was amazingly awesome. Blizzard has put up a topic for each class. Are there plans at WoW Insider to do those for each of the other classes?
Tyler Caraway did one of these for balance druids yesterday, but it's up to our individual columnists whether they want to compile one of their own for their particular spec(s).
Nina Katarina asked:
So, there was a blue post yesterday agreeing that the mage t13 and druid t13 are inspired by the level 85 spells that they got with Cataclysm, and implying that the Paladin set will have design features in common with Guardian of Ancient Kings.
What other spells new with Cataclysm could inspire a tier set? Will priests be getting Lightwell armor? More birdbath shoulders?
Personally, I'm hoping for a Smoke Bomb-themed set for rogues.
Moobs asked:
You answered the shaman question about soloable raids in BC from thier point how about in general are certain classes better at soloing BC raids than others?
For me it would be from the warriors persecptive.
I was thinking more of in general for Kara like X class might have this problem but all the others would be fine; sort of answer.
Soloability is a malleable concept, really, but the classes that are best at it tend to be ones that have the ability to self-heal as well as mitigate damage. Druids, paladins, and death knights are all very good at soloing old content in their respective tanky forms.
The Dewd asked:
With all this talk about T3 (and other old sets) do you think Blizzard would ever make another 8-piece set, even if they did it like T6 with the SWP pieces? Even if they won't, do you think they SHOULD even if they only kept two set bonuses per set? I realize that things like bracers don't stand out a lot and belts only do because of the new WWE-style. I realize there are offset pieces that more or less match even with the cross-class concerns (like ferals/rogues and hunters/enhancement shaman) but there was, to me, something special about knowing that there were more pieces to get or the joy of getting *another* set piece instead of just a boss drop.
When I worked at Blizzard, I asked Jeff Kaplan about the move from eight-piece to five-piece sets. He said that eight-piece sets made people feel like they had no choice in gearing, that you just had to get all eight pieces or you weren't doing it right. Five pieces allowed players to still get two set bonuses and left plenty of slots for non-set items with important stat values.

Douglas Adams of Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy fame once described getting a film made like "trying to grill a steak by having a succession of people coming into the room and breathing on it"
I wouldn't expect the film soon.

I'd rather yell at a cup of coffee to heat it.

At least it's not been called off!
Also, Sam Raimi making it! Night-elf Xenas! I hope his brother cameos. As Budd Nedreck.

Question for the queue:
Do we have any idea what level you will need to be to do Coren Direbrew during brewfest and roll on his trinkets? Do I need to level my 83 alts before Tuesday?
Cyno01 Sep 17th 2011 12:19PM
If the other holiday bosses (ahune, crown co) have been any indication, 84.
Cephas Sep 17th 2011 12:42PM
@Cyno01
I hope you're wrong. I know holiday bosses aren't supposed to be very difficult, but if 84s can queue then it's going to be a complete joke for 85s with even semi-decent gear. Plus Direbrew's new drops are ilvl 365, the same as Molten Front rewards, so I think that indicates that Direbrew is at least intended to be more challenging than Ahune was.
Anyway, to answer the question, we can't know for sure what level you will need to be until the event actually starts.
robitrock Sep 17th 2011 1:14PM
All the holiday bosses since wrath have been a joke, why would it change now?
Noyou Sep 17th 2011 1:29PM
You had to be lvl 84 for Ahune. And I can say Ahune was no joke this year. You could manually enter the instance but you could not summon him unless you were lvl 84. I expect Direbrew to be as hard if not harder. If it is easy for you, kudos. I would say for the average player it might be slightly difficult.
Thayer Sep 17th 2011 4:41PM
It has always been possible to queue for holiday bosses a level or two short of max, even though the rewards have always been max level epics. I would expect you need to be level 84 to queue for Direbrew.

Only problem with the 5 piece is through that ret paladins and Dks will always be forced to wear boots that match the tier of warriors rather than their own.
With transmog coming in 4.3 i hope that they will do something about that.
Paul Sep 17th 2011 12:21PM
Not always, but yeah, definately usually, if not most commonly. For example, in T11, there are some tank shoulders which use the Paladin tier art instead of the Warrior tier are which has usually been used for tank items within raids.
However, that's more of an issue of gear philosophy in regards to how the art is (re)used rather than a direct issue of 5-piece sets.
I personally loathe the use of current tier set art within the current tier's non-tier items. I hated the recolours in TBC and early Wrath, and I hated the identical non-sets in late Wrath and Cata.
As much as I hated T7's raid environment due to it's negative effect on the raid scene for pretty much every type of raider (except for new raiders, of course), it was the only Tier that had the "correct" tier art philosphy. Yes, I know that the tiers were reworked T3, but that's not what I'm getting at. The non-tier loot from the raid bosses did not use the Tier art, and that's where the game needs to go (again).
This does mean more work for the art team, but with the PVP geat approach of modifying a previous item art, the ability to make items for distinct for the Tier's is increased.
This way, they can either utilise Badge gear or Profession gear to cover the missing pieces of the tier sets.

Actually, for T11 and T12 the BiS belt (and in the case of T12 the ONLY belt) for DPS plate has been the Death knight model. For non-heroic T11 you could have Death Knight boots or Warrior Boots, Heroic was only Warrior boots iirc. For T12 you can have a pair of amazing warrior sett boots for the cost of about 60k if you can find the mats and pattern, or you can just kill a boss and get some Death knight set boots, for Heroic there is only Death Knight boots. Paladins can only complete their set look with the Healer boots, but NOBODY ELSE WANTS THOSE, so have free drops for modding your look.
DeathPaladin Sep 17th 2011 1:29PM
For DPS plate in tier 10, the normal versions are based on the Warrior tier, and you can only get boots, belts, and bracers that match the DK tier in Heroic content.
That put a damper on farming ICC to pick up those pieces. Thankfully I managed to build a set using a mix of Scourgelord gear and the blue DK starter gear. Scourgelord chest, shoulders, legs, and hands, with everything else as the blue DK gear. I always liked the look of the Greathelm of the Scourge Champion, anyway.
Kylenne Sep 17th 2011 3:34PM
I'm with you on that, Paul. One of the things I hate the most about T12 is running around looking like a warlock that discovered a Spirit Halloween store just opened up next to the Hot Topic they sulk in front of all day.
The Dewd Sep 17th 2011 11:18PM
I guess I asked the wrong question. I suppose it's half about tier but half about art. T8 rogue non-set (shoulders off... XT?) were really cool but look silly with Druid gear. I guess Blizz just needs to design more matching non-set pieces for all classes.

Smoke bomb armor is like this?
http://www.absoluteanime.com/naruto/naruto-girl.jpg
Spoiler/warning: it's Naruto using his sexy jutsu. Crude pg-13 I'd guess?
mark.ammons Sep 17th 2011 12:09PM
A Smoke-bomb inspired set would be good... i'd like something subtle. Nice shades of gray with some smoke effects.
CDave Sep 17th 2011 2:45PM
Like Smoke from Mortal Kombat. Human or robot, I wouldn't care.
hipponaut Sep 17th 2011 12:13PM
Maybe they'll give us a little bit of new info about the film at Blizzcon. Here's hoping.
Knob Sep 17th 2011 12:25PM
Oh someone will ask the Lore panel about it, don't you worry.
