Patch 4.3 info "imminent" this week

Community Manager Zarhym tweeted this afternoon that it's time to get your appetite whet for some new patch 4.3 information this week. A good way to do that is to look over everything that's been announced already and think about what we'd like to see.
Hopefully, some more information on class tweaks, story progression, and the new 5-mans will be coming up. And Deathwing -- don't ever forget about him.
Stay tuned to WoW Insider in the coming day ... should be interesting!

Attune myself?! I THOUGHT THEY WERE GETTING RID OF ATTUNEMENT QUESTS QQQQQQ

This is probably why that Escapist article was pulled. The info in it was meant to come out at this later date.
Ice Sep 18th 2011 7:36PM
Yeah most likely this. I dont expect anything groundbreaking and massive news yet. Those come in PTR very often.
Its _sometimes_ funny how blizzard tells "late" their own stuff and other fansites or interviews are ahead of them weeks. But this gives them time to think and tell why more properly. Why give lower loot in LFraid, why rogues get (yet another) legendary. These things cant be told in rumor nor fast interviews sometimes.

If it is going up on the PTR Monday or Tuesday, I expect there to be a LOT of info released. It seems like this comes out really fast and furious each time this happens. There is always 3-4 things that weren't mentioned as coming out that are on there as well.

Escapist article didnt really have any real news. Nothing that we havent heard before. Just a little more detailed than before.

AND THE LEGENDARY. WE WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THE LEGENDARY.

"Raiding, on the other hand, is a chore."
Only if you make it one. Some people find dailies, heroics, and/or battlegrounds to be a chore but consider raiding fun.

Wrong post to reply to. >.

The rogue legendary weapon is the thing I'm interested about. I hope it's real and an epic questline that we don't have to raid to get. Hopefully, this starts a trend with all the classes.
SaintStryfe Sep 18th 2011 7:25PM
That would be the stupidest, worst thing they could do. A LEGENDARY without raids? Are you daft? Are you that small epeened you want a gold weapon, without actually having to beat a boss for it?
I'm sorry if I sound like some hoity-toity raider here, but seriously, that's very pathetic that you expect them to give you a Legendary for questing.
Martin Sep 18th 2011 7:28PM
Don't have to raid to get? I'm pretty sure that you'll have to raid to get it. A lot.
Joerendous Sep 18th 2011 7:40PM
I think that was a bit uncalled for.
Eregos ftw! Sep 18th 2011 9:30PM
They want legendary's to be rare so they can be... well... legendary! If every casual raider could easily get his hands on a legendary, that legendary would hardly be legendary. I'd put it at more uncommon level.
Sleutel Sep 18th 2011 11:05PM
SaintStryfe's hyperbole aside, he's right from the perspective of a non-raid Legendary being a terrible idea. It would break the game. Just in this patch, we've seen them nerf the drop rate on the items required to make the current Legendary, simply because guilds were in a position to make more than one quickly.
Having the weapon come from a quest line means anyone can do it. Anyone being able to do it means *everyone* will. And at that point, they have to start tuning encounters around it. Congratulations, your weapon is no longer a special privilege and bonus, but a necessity.

I agree with you. Many of us are not in raiding guilds or guilds that just aren't big enough to get such things. A quest line could be made to get epics that did NOT require raiding. It could be made long, convoluted, and sufficiently difficult enough that it would be very hard to accomplish. With phasing they could easily ensure that certain quests could only be accomplished by a single player. They could in this case also design the quests in such a way as to play to the strengths of the Rogue's abilities. Having to stealth into someplace to get something ... timing your movements to avoid detection ... having to pick the lock to get the item(s) while having to watch out for the guards ... etc.
I don't play a rogue, but would love it if they could do something like this for a Hunter/Mage/Shadow Priest/ Druid epic. They could also make the Quest Chain Epic slightly less epic than the Raid epic if they wanted to keep the distinction between the 2.

I don't think Mikewin's post deserves the downgrade. WoW can be fun. Raiding, on the other hand, is a chore. I'm very much hoping the patch will fix that.
I'm the leader of my guild and I have one of two choices if I want to progress in end-game. I can recruit for my level 6 guild (meaning I get a whole lot of level 5 noobs asking for gold and help with quests they can easily solo), or I can abandon my 6 year old guild and join a more progressive one...but I must know the fights that I can't possibly learn unless I do that. It's a no-win situation for many, many players.
The Molten Front promised a lot and delivered very little. Yes, it keeps me busy on all my alts, but in the end I'm collecting Marks of the World Tree that have no value whatsoever unless I feel it's worth my time to grind out a few greens to disenchant. The tournament was ten times more valuable, if you ask me, because you could at least get pets and mounts. And Tol Barad is still more fun to play in than the Molten Front.
I think what grayed out Mikewin was praying for was an opportunity to play WoW without having to sit in a city for three hours and hope to get into a raid that might, just might, allow him to run a raid that has a rare chance to offer him an award for his time.
Yet I'm so addicted to running my dailies on my multitude of bored alts that I can't seem to find the time to join the fray of city dwellers. But to what end? I hope to god this raid finder is my answer.

Hey! Maybe they'll announce they'll actually let you use your silly greens and legendaries with transmogrification, after figuring out that no, their game isn't super-serious enough to restrict you from smacking Deathwing with a rotten codfish and rolling pin, or carrying Medivh's old swinging-pole into combat.
SaintStryfe Sep 18th 2011 7:28PM
I agree with the earlier statements on both - Legendaries should remain special models, not copiable. And while I'm much in favor of it, I can see the benefit of a list of non-moggable items, to keep the game's ascetic pointed toward actual weapons.
Schadow Sep 18th 2011 8:31PM
I disagree with regard to legendaries. If you have done the work to acquire the legendaries, you should be able to display those models on your current gear.
I do think that legendaries should not be copied over - it would be a shame to have Thunderfury look like some piece of rubbish. But it would be great to keep the legendary looks in the game instead of retiring them when the next tier comes out.
awall Sep 18th 2011 9:31PM
I agree that the people who have legendary items should be able to use them in transmogrifying their gear if they want to. Consider all the Priests and Hunters who will be using Benediction and Rhok'delar, two items that are essentially class legendary weapons without the orange text. I wouldn't be surprised if this restriction were lifted before they release 4.3.
