Patch 4.3 info "imminent" this week

Community Manager Zarhym tweeted this afternoon that it's time to get your appetite whet for some new patch 4.3 information this week. A good way to do that is to look over everything that's been announced already and think about what we'd like to see.
Hopefully, some more information on class tweaks, story progression, and the new 5-mans will be coming up. And Deathwing -- don't ever forget about him.
Stay tuned to WoW Insider in the coming day ... should be interesting!

Kara as a 5 man heroic would make me love Blizzard forever and ever.
I would miss doing it solo but making it relevant again is all good with me.

So, they're making an announcement that they're going to make an announcement, eh?
MusedMoose Sep 18th 2011 9:50PM
And now WoW Insider has announced that there was an announcement about the pending announcement.
ANNOUNCEPTION.

I might be like politics. "He just announced that he's going to announce his candidacy tomorrow!"
When I see that I always think, "Didn't he just announce it, then?"
Knob Sep 19th 2011 2:00AM
Obligatory "Yo dawg, we heard you like announcements so we put an announcement about your announcement so you can read about an announcement while you're reading about an announcement."

If the attunement thing isn't just a joke ("attune yourself" being an obvious Wow-y pun on "prepare yourself"), then I'm pretty sure it means that you'll have to do the series of five-mans to attune yourself for the raids. In the Escapist interview (I think), Chilton said that the five-man would be much more tied into the raid than in the past, and would involve in some way empowering the players enough for them to be able to realistically take on Deathwing.
Okay, here's the quote: "We're not really spoiling a whole lot as to how that is going to work but the lore of how players are actually able to gain enough power in order to defeat one of the most powerful dragon aspects is kind of told throughout the story of three dungeons and then the actual Deathwing raid."
So, my guess is you go through the five-mans and get bigger and spikier until finally you go into the raid and poke Deathwing to death. Sounds like fun, right?

Sounds very cool. It might be something that's used to shatter his plates and make it so he can't stay together, it might be something that depowers him like the Dragon Soul did to the other dragonflights, it might be something completely different. But I loved the progression through the ICC 5-man dungeons, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how these go.
...until I realize that my main will probably be vastly underpowered to get into them. Time to actually hit some heroics...

In the context of Cataclysm, an ELEMENTAL theme expansion... precursor quest chains are not what comes to mind first when I hear the word "attunement".

Yeah. You are all correct. I blame my dumb comment on the heat. Hot weather turns my brain to goo.

And here I was doing my best Sonic the Hedgehog impression

I want to get a job as a Blizzard CM for the sole purpose of sending out cryptic communications using words I know will rile people up, like:
"After this announcement you will be studiously dancing for joy"
"Even we will not be able to house our players' excitement tomorrow"
"We're getting ready to serve you up some Classic Blizz goodness"
"We will announce something in a class of its own, you could even say it's heroic"
Man, can you imagine the flame wars and speculation stuff like that would bring?
MusedMoose Sep 18th 2011 11:29PM
...wow. Any one of those would cause the forums to explode, and I can only imagine the critical mass if you said all of them.
Of course, after that, you'd be banned from talking to the fans ever again. ^_^
Plainswander Sep 19th 2011 12:19AM
OOH! Can I play?
"We feel we will best Serve our players by Consolidating our strengths..."
"All your weapons can now be fit into one wallet sized bag!"
"Change is good, we can't wait to show you the new Forms of things to come!"
"It's The End of the World! And we feel fine!"
man, this is a FUN game!

You could always work for Valve.
They literally troll their players with stuff like that.
When players misunderstood a joke, and assumed the Pyro was female, they ran with it. On the official class page about the Pyro, there's a script which will randomly replace "him/her".
When the Scout update was being shown, some players started a theory that it was really the Spy update, and on the last day of the reveal, the Spy would pop out. This didn't happen. Forward to the Sniper update, and halfway thru it, the Spy popped up on the announcement page, backstabbed the Sniper, and changed the name to "Spy Update". Update was released as a combo.
They constantly, CONSTANTLY hide stuff in other stuff. Unreleased weapons in videos, unreleased game modes get slight mentions. Every image that gets released with an update is scrutinized for clues. They like to play with the people who do this by putting out images that mean nothing. But usually, something that is revealed was actually hidden in a previous image or video.

I want to see some damn class changes! I could care less for content/story updates...unless that "content" is the class changes. Seriously lets see some buff/nerf info already!
Aids Sep 18th 2011 11:52PM
Why don't you go burn someone's house down instead of whining about it here?
Lemons Sep 19th 2011 3:06AM
Sure, downrate the guy who wants to see class changes. I'm sure you'll all be very happy with your vague descriptions of the new raid and 5 mans. Jeez that's some compelling stuff.
mikewin2222 Sep 19th 2011 12:13AM
@Hawkyn I fully agree.
To everyone else. Ouch. I only wanted a long questline to utilize this legendary with some prerequisites (e.g. running story specific Heroics around 150 times, stealing an item behind when of the Horde leaders...which would likely require a small raid, etc.).
I raided from Vanilla WoW through WotLK and decided to take a break and I'm not likely to ever raid again. I think a legendary that would be difficult to attain and possibly timelocked without the need to raid would help allow casuals to come back. Blizzard has gone on record to say that they were not happy that so many casuals left the game and the proceeding nerfs to heroics in 4.1 and 4.2 were not enough to bring them back.
Also, it stated that I was "hoping". I realize Blizzard hates to let go of old tropes and this will likely be a raid item. With that said, have a good day everyone.
