Finally Jaina and Tyrande get to do something in WoW! Will it be character development? Will it be a return to their former and fine characters from Warcraft III? No! They become useless shells of themselves (no change there amirite) because their feeble little minds crumble under adversity. Seriously, Blizzard? Hire some more writers, please.

It might help if someone on their writing staff wasn't burdened with a Y chromosome. No, that's too harsh. The writers they have have put some good stories in the game. Cataclysm passes the Bechdel test with flying colors. There are strong female leads who don't follow standard heroic tropes.I'll have to see how it's implemented in the game before I judge. But with what I know now, three of the four ghosts give me a hollow scared feeling in the pit of my stomach that has nothing to do with the expected difficulty level of the encounter.

Heh, I certainly don't disagree, but I can imagine we'll be wiping plenty of times to these ladies with their pent-up frustrations being unleashed upon us."Furion? Furion, is that you? I'm sick of spending all my time in the kitchen making you sandwiches! MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN SANDWICHES!" *annihilates the party*

If you want to look at it another way, three of the four people strong enough to have a fragment of their being survive the apocalypse are women. Sylvanas, Tyrande, and Jaina had the will to persist as shells of their former selves, while Garrosh, Malfurion, and Varian are just completely annihilated.

Riiight - the reason they were chosen is because they're female. The most motivated, strongest, new character introduced in Cataclysm expac is Aggra. No male character gets much development and interaction at all (except Jesus-el-Verde [aka Thrall] and bosses we kill, and a little development of the troll faction leader and Varian's son, who is so important that I can't even remember his name right now). Please get off the lit-crit bandwagon that puts everything through some meaningless "test" and try to enjoy the story as it is and for what it is instead of what checkboxes are filled in.

Be fair. They can't write male characters either. Instead we get giant slabs of beef sweating at each other.

Getting new characters is great, even more when they're well-written, but what I was wishing for is that they'd stop mangling the ones we've had for a while now, that have been sidelined or cheapened in WoW. Did I even mention female? I said Jaina and Tyrande, two characters, yes, female, who inexplicably have done nothing or nearly nothing since WarIII ended. The most Jaina has done is go to ICC to run from Arthas and fail to be removed from the WarIII nostalgia raid. Tyrande has done literally nothing, when Malfurion should be the one standing in her shadow, as he was in WarIII.
