When Zarhym said that patch 4.3 goodies were imminent, we didn't know he meant this soon. Our parent site, Joystiq, has the details from Tom Chilton, game director for WoW. He talks about the trio of new 5-man dungeons and the lore behind the final chapter of Cataclysm's story.
The new 5-man dungeons will have us exploring a future where Deathwing wins, to show Nozdormu the endtime that would happen if Deathwing were allowed to bring his plans to fruition. After convincing the leader of the Bronze Dragonflight to aid us, we travel back in time to the Well of Eternity to allow Thrall to steal the Demon Soul. The Demon Soul is an ancient dragon artifact that will be the focal point of our attack on Deathwing. Finally, we enter the Hour of Twilight, escorting Thrall and the Demon Soul to Wyrmrest Temple, which is where the final battle begins.
Chilton also talks about the Deathwing encounter itself, sharing with us details on the mobile fight that is like nothing we've ever seen before. Deathwing will be on the run, and we will be giving chase across the world. As Deathwing is trying to heal himself and regain his strength, players will be ripping away his armor plating and fighting the lava beasts that lurk within his body. There will be a new balancing mechanic that forces players to stay balanced while fighting, adding an entirely new angle to the encounter.
The final showdown will occur with players fighting Deathwing from floating islands in the Maelstrom. From my perspective, patch 4.3 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting patches of all time!

I did not.
Holy crap, this sounds amazing. Going into the future to see the apocalypse? Our War of the Ancients instance? And then escorting Thrall to the final battle?
I'm only sorry I won't be able to see the raid myself, because that also sounds rather amazing.

The 5-mans sound awesome, although escorting Thrall to Wyrmrest....hopefully he'll have a faster horse this time around!
And the Deathwing fights sound awesome! And GC mentions fighting off Deathwing's tentacles in one part of the fight....maybe Deathwing will become full-on Old God empowered before we take him down. We break open his plates hoping his fire consumes him from the inside but instead these writhing tentacles break out of him. Can't wait to see if that's actually the case.

I agree! I love the COT five mans, old Hillsbrad never got old to me. (Old Strat did but that was mostly due to the insane gear inflation--- I still liked it best of the Wrath five mans).
A post-Apocalyptic five man? AWESOME!

I like that idea Knob. Maybe the armor plates aren't holding him together, but keeping something from breaking out. My mind is fuzzy this early in the morning, but I don't remember why Deathwing's falling apart to begin with to need to be held together by the armor plates. So maybe he's containing something Old God-related inside himself, and that thing is trying to get out after we tear off the plates?

Rogue, if I remember right the plating was needed because of the sheer power he gained from the Dragon/Demon soul started to rend and tear his body apart. If anything, the tentacles mentioned may be nothing more than manifestations of the corruption and rampant energy that's trying to tear him apart.

Yeah.
40-55 minutes into the raid / 5-man or wherever that balancing thing is - somebody falls off, and the group has to wipe the whole thing and start over because the mage's body is lost somewhere over Stranglethorn Vale and can't be rezzed.
Hope its not like that. :)

There's no way Blizzard would 1) make a boss fight that long & 2) make it so brezzes cannot be used in an encounter.

Hmm, the final fight will be a bit like a scaled up version of Aeosera in deepholm I guess? Could be pretty awesome, though no confirmation about any different bosses other than Deathwing which is a tad annoying

Hopefully it will live up to its hype. 4.3 is Blizzard's last chance to correct the mistakes they've made throughout Cataclysm and convince everyone to stick around and upgrade to the next expansion.
