You found it fun. Some people don't.
Neither sort is "better" in any significant way. Does being able to clear Contra on one life, or Firelands the same week as the world firsts, make you a better /person/?
Also note that some people's tastes change over time. Beating one's head against an "impossible" 8-bit boss at 12, when you have lots of time on your hands and not much else to do (plus good twitch reflexes), might not be as much fun at 20, when you're in college, or 40, when you have a family.
