The Queue: Zombie goasts, leave this place
Rossi, Alex and I were talking about the DotA 2 leak that included some Half Life 2: Episode 3 strings that were most likely just Valve's trolling the fans a bit, as we have been anticipating the news of a new Half Life for some time now. There's some pretty amazing fan fiction out there, but none is as thrilling and amazing as the Half Life: Full Life Consequences series of stories featuring Gordon Freeman's brother John Freeman. Personally, I hope that Half Life 2: Episode 3 is as good as Full Life Consequences. It is time for me to live up to my name and face Full Life Consequences.
Also, I promised certain artistic friends that I would post a new art challenge in The Queue when I was given the reins, in the same vein in which Alex posted his paladin bubble art thing, which turned out to be exceedingly awesome. So, here's mine: Rossi and I are totally DPS warrior bro's Horde-side now, raiding together and generally topping charts and taking names. You should totally draw Rossi's male Tauren warrior and my female Blood Elf warrior doing their best bro-fist.
Skozz asked:
Will I be able to transmogrify my head piece into the Chef's Hat? It's blue and looks like it gives an armor bonus, but it has no specific type (Cloth, Leather, Mail, Plate).
Probably not. Chef's Hat would fall under two of the exceptions/rules for transmogrification. First, you can only transmog gear that has stats on it over just armor. Second, many "funny" or "silly" items have been excluded from transmog, including fish daggers, fishing poles, and most likely the Chef's Hat. Sad, I know.
ptay313 asked:
Two days in a row, I have killed Coren Direbrew, gotten my daily keg shaped chest, opened it and got... NOTHING! Is this an actual common occurence, or is Direbrew messing with me from beyond the grave?
For your first kill every day, Coren will drop his Keg-shaped Treasure Chest, which will always contain a small number of justice points. Sometimes the keg will contain rare items and mounts specific to the holiday. If the keg only contained these justice points, you will get the message "There is no loot." Sadly, this is lame and demoralizing. I would have much preferred the bag at least contain some Brewfest tokens or something in the bag by default.
Amanda A. asked:
Does anyone else get the impression that they swapped the vendor items and boss drops for tier 13 to reduce loot drama in LFR? A dps needing a tank ring would cause issues. A third of the raid needing a generic tier token won't.
I think the reason that the tier gear was removed from the vendors was two-fold. First, tier gear continues to be the best-looking, iconic armor from the tier that requires raiding to get. By keeping the iconic set items as part of the raids only, you give players a new incentive to try raiding and the new Raid Finder feature.
Second, by filling the valor point vendors with off set items, you don't have to itemize those items in the raid itself. The big example this tier is the fact that there are no plate shoulders for DPS classes in Firelands other than the tier shoulders off of Majordomo Staghelm. Had there been off set shoulders available from vendors, players would have been able to gear up and replace lower-ilevel items to make Firelands easier and work for their tier set pieces as a reward for completing content.
Tadiermot asked:
If you could trade places with any NPC for the day, which would you choose, and what would you do?
I would trade places with any repair vendor in the Firelands on a progression raid night. Stand around, repair some gear, and then retire.
fallemwarrior pondered:
Is it bad that when i que'ed for WSG the other day i tried to go back to our flag and purchase a Banshee's veil?

I could be wrong , but did I read something about no acheivements will be awarded for completing raids via the LfRaid finder? If so, how will be able to get the rare PuG if we have no way to show what boss we've helped put down?
Shinae Sep 22nd 2011 11:26AM
I think LFR will replace the need to (manually) PUG the raid content.
Revynn Sep 22nd 2011 11:38AM
- "I think LFR will replace the need to (manually) PUG the raid content."
I doubt it. At least on my server, a lot of people will still want to pug normals for the better gear.
As for the achievements, I think we'll still see something for the LFR raids just so people can say "look, I've done it and I know the fight". If it were up to me, it would be a 5 Point achievement that simply gets replaced in your achievements tab once you clear the normal mode equivalent, just like what happens with the Level 30, Level 40, etc achievements.
I think the biggest thing to take away from that statement is that you won't be able to work on things like Glory of the 4.3 Raider inside the LFR environment.
sporkwind Sep 22nd 2011 11:48AM
Not really.
Our guild has to PUG in a couple people occasionally when we're running firelands. We won't be using LFR since it's only 25 man so we'll still be PUGing through the traditional means.
LFR won't do away with PUGs, it'll just make pugs a little rarer.
Puntable Sep 22nd 2011 11:48AM
Once everyone knows the encounters of the raid by using the LFR, they may want to take a step up in difficulty for the better loot. This would mean MORE raid pugs being formed the "old fashined way".
tempforscott Sep 22nd 2011 11:53AM
I believe I read that they still plan (enough conditionals?) to have an achievement for completing the raid in LFR mode, but they won't have most of the other boss-specific achievements you usually see in a raid tier. It's also a possibility that the armory will track your LFR kills just as it currently does for normal and heroic kills.
Shinae Sep 22nd 2011 12:02PM
That's true, so I retract my prior statement.
It was my knee-jerk reaction because of how many times I've seen people LFM for 5-man content in Trade chat only to be met with a response of "lol just RDF it noob." But then, unlike 5-mans that have the same rewards whether you go to them as a guild or as a PUG, LFR wil have lower ilevel rewards than the normal mode.
So yes, people will still PUG the normal raids. As you said, hopefully we'll get a small achievement to show that we've seen it through LFR.
loop_not_defined Sep 22nd 2011 12:38PM
Blizzard stated there will only be "completion" achievements, although they might be broken into multiple achievements if it's a particularly large raid. To make up an example, ICC would probably have had four LFR achievements.
Noyou Sep 22nd 2011 4:40PM
It's a totally different tier of raiding. There really isn't anything to compare it to. The loot and achievements will not be any you can get in normal or heroic modes. It's basically a practice mode and an alternative people can use to see content they normally might not be able to see. It might be really fun, who knows.

I read this yesterday and again today, I still do not get it?
Please what am I missing?

It's called an other game reference. Both fallem and Mathew were talking about League of Legends. Why, I do not know. 8-)
AutumnBringer Sep 22nd 2011 4:21PM
This has got to be how a lot of new people feel coming into WoW. The forums and chat are full of inside jokes.
Public service reminder: If you guys think the WoW community is full of jerks, for the love of all that is holy, don't even go near League of Legends. I loved that game, but the people that ruin it seem to be the rule there, not the exception.

Q for the q:
Do you think we will see new arena gear in patch 4.3 or will it be with the next xpac?
Smashbolt Sep 22nd 2011 11:38AM
New arena seasons have historically come with every new raid tier (ie: every big patch). It'd be way out of the norm if 4.3 DIDN'T include arena season 11 and its accompanying new gear.
Revynn Sep 22nd 2011 11:56AM
They have to introduce a new Arena Season with each tier. Otherwise the PvE players will feel obligated to PvP for the better weapons or PvP'ers will feel obligated to raid for their gear. Neither one is fair to either group and both throw a wrench in balance.
coville Sep 22nd 2011 11:21AM
I saw that there was going to be a raid level specifically for the "Raid Finder" pugs, is there any more information on this?
Also, any confirmation on what raids will be available on the "Raid Finder"?
Shinae Sep 22nd 2011 11:46AM
The only information we have right now about the difficulty of LFR is that it will be easier than normal mode. The only raid that has been said to be included in the LFR is the Dragon Soul (Deathwing's raid).
I was hoping that all Cata raids would be available in the LFR because I haven't raided as much as I would've liked in Cata. Perhaps they'll get included eventually.
loop_not_defined Sep 22nd 2011 12:47PM
Unless they've clarified since I last read about it, I believe the number of initial raids included in 4.3 was sort of ambiguous. They said they'll expand it to "earlier" raids eventually, but weren't clear on whether they meant pre-4.3 raids or pre-Cata raids.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's just for 4.3, though. Otherwise they would have to test and balance 4.0 and 4.2 LFR raids on the 4.3 PTR, which might take too long.

Goast? Is that undead breakfast food?
Grovinofdarkhour Sep 22nd 2011 11:56AM
I thought it was short for "goblin boast."
"Swixwizzle says he only talked to this human for 5 minutes and swindled him for 5000g."
"Don't listen to him, he's just goasting again."
