Blizzard loves rogues in
patch 4.3. Not only are rogues getting a pair of legendary daggers (potentially named Fangs of Father), but the daggers will give the rogue black dragon wings as well.
First revealed in Blizzard's
Facebook album "Glimpses," the picture depicts a night elf rogue in full tier 13
Blackfang Battleweave wielding the legendary pair of weapons, black wings unfurled.
The wings go perfectly with the bat aesthetics of the tier 13 armor and give the set something totally unique. That rogue also looks pretty high up in the sky, so could the legendary daggers also be a type of mount not unlike the caster legendary
Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest? We will know soon enough. All I've got to say is one word:
awesome.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Look at what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

I'm gonna go level my rogue now...
Revynn Sep 23rd 2011 12:29PM
Yup. We only have one reliable rogue in the guild so I decided I was going to finish leveling mine (currently level 34) so I can work on these during our alt runs.
Now, I want to be in Northrend by the end of the weekend.
Natsumi Sep 23rd 2011 1:20PM
@Revynn
Without much playtime you can easily do 10 levels in a day, if you have significant playtime, you can do 20 a day. That all stops once you hit 70 though, Northrend is a PITA to get through without heirlooms, too much crap gear for specs you aren't using. Seriously, how many people quest 70 to 80 as a Holy Pally? Oh well, at least Agi leather drops in dungeons.
paragorillabear Sep 23rd 2011 2:36PM
Whoa! That's totally awesome!!!
Rogue is the only class I haven't played past level 10...
I'm SO tempted to start leveling a rogue...
or WTB class change...
REDMJOEL Sep 23rd 2011 2:51PM
My priest is at level 83 with 3.5 days played. Part of that time was spent leveling alchemy, so it's totally doable.
LuZifer Sep 23rd 2011 11:48PM
I could not be more pleased that I'm in line to get these.
Kunikenwad! Sep 23rd 2011 12:19PM
And they wonder why enhancement shaman are so damn angry. Legendary daggers, dragon wings, epic screenshot potential. Ugh.

Wait, people still play enhancement?
Resto FTMFW!
Titusx Sep 23rd 2011 1:32PM
Yes, people still play enchancement. Yes, we are the neglected child of wow. Yes we enjoy and love our spec. Yes descent weapons are few and far between. Yes, we are probably one of, if not THE, true minorities in the game. No, we are probably never going to see a true legendary costume made for us.
Yes it sucks sharing gear with a class that has no need for expertise, which we must cap. Have minimal need for hit, we have spell hit cap. Loves haste and crit (depending on the spec one more than the other) which we loath. And likes mastery in optimal doses, which we cant get enough off and most reforge into it like there is no tomorrow.
Playing enhancement is fun. Gearing as an enhancement shocks.
relmatos Sep 23rd 2011 1:53PM
It'd appear that slightly more people play enhancement than rogues since rogues got a legendary and we didnt. The only reason I can think of for rogues to get a legendary is blizzard trying to get more people to play rogues. Why else would they give rogues a legendary when it doesnt even fit in the current lore? At least Shaman have Thrall that's one of the major characters in the expansion.
It really feels like Blizzard is trying to stop people from playing enhancement.
It was bad enough that we had to constantly get weak stats on our gear because of hunters and never get picked in pugs because we're melee but now they even decide not to give us access to a legendary.
Next week they'll announce that they're removing our access to Sulfuras.
Kunikenwad! Sep 23rd 2011 3:13PM
You guys are right; we really are the neglected stepchildren of DPS. But you know, we should take pride in that. I've yet to meet another melee raider who can out-dps me. They may take our weapons, they may give us haste and crit, but they can never ... take ... OUR UBERNESS!
Also, I'll never play anything but Enhance just to stick it to Blizz.
loop_not_defined Sep 23rd 2011 3:25PM
I'm sorry, but I don't understand all this "solidarity" over a spec of a class in a video game. Just seems like there would be more...meaningful things to feel bad about in this world. o_O
Kunikenwad! Sep 23rd 2011 3:34PM
@Loop
Spoken like someone who's never had the pain of raiding as enhance. I love the enhancement playstyle. Always have. I've got two raiding enhancement shaman and it's always a severe pain to get them geared up. I'm not feeling bad about it or whatever, I just recognize that gearing as enhance has always presented certain challenges above and beyond what some other specs have to face. Feeling bad about it has nothing to do with it; my shaman's gear has been a handicap I've had to face for three expansions now and it harms my raid team. I constantly have to outperform my gear which means I have to be as close to perfect as possible when raiding.
Also, the enhancement community (and there's no other way to put it; we are a close-knit community) is more than a little weary of feeling left out in the cold in every iteration of WoW. I consistently out-perform my melee brethren but rarely get to taste the sweet purple rewards of my labor.
Sorry if our general weariness bothers you, but unless you've walked a mile in our shaman-y shoes, then you can't really begin to understand. Enhance have it tough ... but we're tougher. So all my orcish, troll, tauren, dwarven, goblin, and spacegoat brothers and sisters, stand tall! We won't let them beat us!
Angus Sep 23rd 2011 3:38PM
It isn't even that enhance shaman have stupid gear requirements when sharing gear. It is that at every turn the devs make it harder. An off-hand for enhance before Brewfest? 2% drop on 22 mobs or on Nef. Of course rogues had dagger off of the golum council and wanted that Nef weapon too.
Molten front had a sword and a dagger pattern. No axe, mace or fist.
It's like they go out of their way to exclude enhance shaman.
snarkygoldfish Sep 23rd 2011 4:05PM
Seeing this just makes me even more disheartened.
Ah well. I do agree though, enhancement shaman are among the most closely knit and helpful players in the game to each other. I'm always happy to help others delving into the spec, and swap tips / theories / tweaks with others. I'm not sure it's the same with other classes / specs.
To ANYONE that says "Oh just switch specs..." ...NO. We choose enhance because no other class/spec in this games offers our playstyle. Not a one. Why is it okay for any other class to complain when their favorite spec / playstyle lags behind in competitiveness, but we're told to switch to elemental or drop DPS altogether and heal.
No.
We're not asking for too much. We're asking for a bit of consideration when it comes to gear design and playability. And I'm sick of being told to suck it up and deal with it.
Skarn Sep 23rd 2011 4:06PM
"Why else would they give rogues a legendary when it doesnt even fit in the current lore?"
Er. Yes it does. The daggers come from the Black Dragonflight. They are called the "Fangs of the Father." They might literally be Deathwing's teeth. Not only the end boss of the next raid, but of the entire expansion.
That counts as "current lore."
Kunikenwad! Sep 23rd 2011 4:14PM
@Snarky
Amen, brother. I get so tired of people saying, "Well, just switch to Elemental, it's better anyways." And I'm always flabbergasted because it just simply isn't the case. As Enhancement, I can demolish everyone except a well-geared mage, warlock, or boomkin, and that's considering that it's an absolute nightmare to find gear upgrades. I'd support the decision to switch specs if Enhancement wasn't viable, but even with low gear levels, Enhancement is one of the most powerful melee specs out there, not to mention all the utility we bring to the raid.
It's just so frustrating to explain to non-shaman. They just don't get it. :(
relmatos Sep 23rd 2011 5:16PM
@Skarn
The exact same name could easily fit a set of axes or fist weapons.
When I say it doesnt fit the lore is that the lore really doesnt talk about any well known rogue in the expansion. Dragons arent really known for their stealth. Especially Deathwing that just destroyed SW to grab a couple of dragon heads. Thrall is a Shaman and is very important in the expansion Lore. The Druids are well represented with the new raid centering around that class. The Mages are also well represented with the blue dragonflight and they received a legendary weapon that is also useable by any other spell casting class.
There's just no reason for Rogues to be chosen as the sole bearers of a legendary weapon except for a misguided attempt by blizzard to boost the number of rogues in the game.
