The Queue: Dollars to donuts

Besides being a fun phrase to use, "dollars to donuts" is also a regular conversion I make at the Donut Star down the road.
Hal asked:
Any idea why the tuning on the new Brewfest trinkets is so odd? I'm specifically thinking of the stamina trinkets, which are both ilvl 365, but objectively worse than other similar trinkets.
The Brewfest trinkets drop off of a boss that you can kill an unlimited number of times per day. It would be a little bit silly to have them be truly comparable to items that require you to kill raid bosses.
Chris asked:
Regarding the PvP to PvE transmog question, how would Blizz rationalize allowing this when one of their big defenses against changing forms, colors, etc. has always been that they don't want to change silhouettes because that would not let people recognize other players class/spec/gear lvl? I forget what specifically they addressed with that answer but I do recall it was a blue post. Any thoughts?
The silhouette theory was really about race/faction, not about class. Blizzard's original philosophy was that your gear would indicate how far along you were in progression, but it turned out that didn't really matter anymore once there had been three or four endgames already.
No matter what they're wearing, you can tell the difference between a Tauren and a Draenei. That's what matters.
digitalscribe asked:
I'm sure this has already been discussed elsewhere, but how is item level calculated? Is it strictly what is equipped, or also in the bags on your person? Does this include the items in your bank? Is it slot specific, if I had a 365 str trinket, but 333 int trinket for my off spec in my bag, does that count against me? Thanks in advance!
Commenter loop_not_defined nailed this one:
It counts the highest ilvl item in all your storage - bags and bank - for every given slot, regardless of whether it's useful to you or not. So no, having lower ilvl items won't affect it in any way.Cowboy asked:
Why does wow insider hate pvp. Are you all clickers or something?
Unfortunately, our regular PVP columnist is no longer with us. We're looking on providing you guys with more PVP content as soon as we can.
Morloch-KT asked:
Are you guys sick to death of 90% of your questions being about transmog ever since the feature was first announced?
Just wait until 4.3's release date is announced and we get a dozen identical questions about the VP-to-JP conversion every day. Time is cyclical, friend.
kL asked:
With the release of the new Tier/Raid Finder and specifically the Rogue Legendary, do you think portions of the quests will be achievable in the LFR tool. They have said that items will be of lesser power in the LFR but what are us Rogues with out a decent raiding guild going to? This would also open the item to a bit more casual players. When my group is raiding we tend to be a bit slower but if I could finish somethings in LFR that would allow me to speed up the process.
Blizzard has stated that the legendary daggers will not be available through Raid Finder. It's lockout-free; there's just no way that's happening.
Brighthammer asked:
Question!: Does the author think I will be able to transmog my Arcanite Ripper? And if I can, is there any possibility the on-use effect will be usable on the other weapon?
Yes and no, respectively.

Or the most delicious capt'n crunch donuts. Breakfast x2! Also you can get married there, LOL.
I'm trying to get Blizzcon to be shown at the Bagdad... but I don't know about the legalities and logistics just yet. Will probably be 21+ if I can make it happen.

@Sacco
Dollars to Donuts eh? You are mocking me now! Either that or it's a magnificent coincidence. This is my new least favorite saying. I don't know why. It just is. I love the donut though. I was fiending some this morning something awful. That one looks really good. Used to have this place by my house that was amazing. A friend of mine worked there for a stretch and told me they used to throw rum in the frosting. Yeah. A little bit of alcohol probably keeps them shiny and not crack. I dunno but they were damn good. I need to find where they moved coz frankly the donuts available to me suck. If anyone knows a good donut shop in the NW side of Chicago/NW burbs feel free to post. Thanks.

The blood sport column ended??? Noooooo!
loop_not_defined Sep 24th 2011 1:08PM
To be fair, the Blood Sport column isn't over. It's just in the parking lot, waiting for a new driver.
loop_not_defined Sep 24th 2011 1:24PM
Also, Michael Gray did one just a few days ago.
ZeroDesu Sep 25th 2011 5:46AM
I didn't know C. Christian Moore left. He just did a Blood Sport recently. He was one of my favorite writers, even though I rarely read his columns because I'm not big on PvP. :(

Question for the Queue:
Has WoWinsider ever considered reaching out to role-play servers a bit? I find that Know Your Lore and All The World's a Stage is quite helpful for knowledge, but I feel that some communities and guilds therein could use a lot of help and WoWinsider is a strong enough force to do that.
eirinefrostblade Sep 24th 2011 1:00PM
What exactly would you want them to cover? AtWaS has guides for story-telling and avoidig common pitfalls like god-modding and creating Mary Sues, suggestions for role-play themes and topics to consider. KYL has numerous resources for background on just about every lore subject that might come up, and I believe they consider suggestions for topics if you manage to find something they haven't covered before. At some point, we as role-players have to do the work and create our own stories.
martyrofthunder Sep 24th 2011 3:10PM
I know I would enjoy seeing the lore and possible stories that could be behind each race/class combination. I know there was something like that prior to Cata about the new combinations, so it may just be a pipedream.

I know this is completely unrelated to the comment, but I still find it hilarious, and it is somewhat related to the first reply.
I saw a website which let you check if your character was a Mary Sue. It had checkboxes for all the character traits, and story elements, and stuff. At the end it gave you a score, and how much of a Mary Sue your character was or wasn't.
I did it, and used the answers as would be answered for Rhonin. In cases where I couldn't give an exact answer, such as internal thought processes and such, I answered as close to what I imagined Rhonin would.
The test only goes up to 50. Which is rated "Kill it with fire". Rhonin scored a 125.
