I don't really play the AH much. I think the most I played the AH was in stockpiling and then liquidating a small stash of Truegold last patch. What I read this column for (aside from the fact that it's interesting and well-written), is that part at the end: advice for the raider who doesn't want to break his bank come patch day.
I hope Blizzard is seeing the price issues between shards and crystals and making note for next expansion. It's a sad state of affairs when the (supposedly) more common material sells for so much more than the epic one.

Don't forget that when that has happened in the past, blizzard has allowed enchanters to split epic crystals into two rare shards.
No reason that shouldn't happen again.

Tha move was actually pretty smart and made my game a little bit more enjoyable. Sometimes I'm bored and I just want to do something, and the old heroics are more fun than running zulroics over and over, so getting some heavenly shard while chilling in an old heroic is combining business with pleasure.

On my server at least, it's the most bang for your buck you can get from honor at the honor tradeskill guy. do a couple bg's, buy a shard, and that'll rake in 90-200g depending on the day on my server :D
