The
leader short stories continue with Sylvanas' own tale of vengeance, loss, and coming to terms with the death of Arthas in
Edge of Night. Finally, we get to see Sylvanas ascend the Frozen Throne and come face to face with the broken and empty armor of the former Lich King, her pact with the Val'kyr, and the war front in Gilneas. There are lots of unexpected twists and turns, especially involving Sylvanas' pact with the Val'kyr, that may not be exactly how we imagined things had actually commenced between the former allies of the Lich King and the leader of the Forsaken.
Personally, I think this is one of the strongest leader short stories, delving into answerable questions and giving us real, solid lore to fill in the holes in the story. Seeing Sylvanas' grief and lack of focus after Arthas' death was something I had hoped would be addressed, as well as the Val'kyr, both of which were discussed and explained. Check out
the story, written by non other than Dave "Fargo" Kosak, and marvel at a new chapter in the Dark Lady's story.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Look at what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

Anybody else LOVE Ludo Lullabi's WoW art? The comic was at it's best when he was the artist.

Only when it's not inked, and Tony Washington is doing the colors. Then it's perfect.
The first volume of the WoW comic had pretty mediocre art due to the inking and coloring job, IMO. Ludo's pencils were great, though.

"oh woe is me I have no purpose now I think I'll throw myself off a cliff"
I is unimpressed. Weak, driven by emotion, running away from responsibilty until reminded by others. This ain't the Sylvanas I know.

I really felt bad for her after reading this. She was never at fault for being brought back as a Banshee and now she gets eternal darkness? and she gets to spent eternity with whatever remains of Arthas in that horrible place? Man, that's just the worst thing ever. I can totally see why she wants to live as long as she can.. Her flashbacks to when she was still alive made me really sad too. I could almost see her in front of the mirror, still full of life and with a whole life in front of her, surely full with dreams and complete devotion to defending her people. Sylvanas just became 10 times as tragic for me, she won't be redeemed after death and now she only has her people to make her pain more bearable. Ugh.
Great story, the best one so far. I think I'm gonna pay her a visit a give her a big hug ;O;

"She was so vain."
Really tugged my heartsrings for some reason, too.

"Um, I don't wanna be an arrow anymore. Could I be a sword instead?"
loop_not_defined Sep 27th 2011 6:33PM
"Hey, if he gets to be a sword, can I be a tankard?
What? Sometimes it's a weapon.
(...and sometimes it's full of beer!)"

Whether she spends them freely or like a miser, some day she WILL run out of lives to put between herself and that fate. She cannot avoid it, only delay it.
Hollow Leviathan Sep 27th 2011 7:29PM
The story ended better than it started, mostly because it started off with a lot of need for an editor. Hollow twice, half-remembered twice, and she backs away from the throne twice in a weird visual of backing away crouched, standing up, thinking for a bit, backing away again, stopping, slowly pivoting around, then walking to the edge. It's really strange.

Raise your Hand if you want to start petitioning the Naru to help Sylvanas some how?
This makes me love my queen all the more. She's not raising these people out of spite or hatered. She's afraid, afraid of the judgement that was forced upon her. Maybe if there was some way to save her from this fate...
And maybe the reason this fate still exists, is because there is still a Lich King. Even though they are no longer under his control, the Lich King still keeps his souls to him, knowing that when he becomes strong enough, he can return them to life and use them as pawns once again.
Though it kinda sucks that we went from being an arrow of retribution to meat shield. But eh, we find a way to fix Sylvanas, we get to go back to where we can be again too.

Is Blizzard allergic to good writing?
# The great brown-skinned orc was festooned in his most menacing battle garb #
"Festooned"? Festooned in battle garb? _Festooned_ in his most _menacing_ battle garb?
# his veiny, tattooed biceps bursting out from beneath tusked shoulderguards. #
# Garrosh's backhand ripped through the sky, spraying the tent with a glistening arc of rainwater as it smashed into the side of Lydon's face. #
Is Blizzard allergic to non-purple prose?
# Although the wind here was biting cold, she felt only the dullest of aches. #
I thought that undead don't feel cold at all. And if she "felt only the dullest of aches", how does she know that it was biting cold? Also, you (author) said that already on the first page: "She could feel no cold, only a dull ache. "
And the writing gets even worse with every page.

Love this short story, brings a new light to sylvanas's life. Where will this lead her, to go crazy as a separate force in the world? Or be an influential support to the horde without being looked down upon?

Remember last words Arthas said?
"I see only Darkness before me"
He is indeed in Darkness now
