Patch 4.3 PTR: Build 14732 hits the servers

Just breezing over them at a first glance, we can see that there are tooltip changes galore, including a distressing change to Enrage for us fury warriors (bleeds look to be excluded from Enrage now, as it now states physical damage instead of all damage). Holiday companions that used to require a reagent now just work during their holiday, like the Winter Reindeer. That's a nice change, in my opinion.
We'll be bringing you the best of the patch 4.3 PTR changes all night long, so keep an eye on the site.

Character copied. Client downloading. Let's see how much this Wild Growth nerf hurts.

Theory...the winter pets won't be "excluded" from casting the rest of the year, but will be somehow different during the holiday.
The snowman, for example has interesting wording: "Right Click to build or destroy a tiny snowman. The snowman is larger and lasts longer during Winter Veil."
And the reindeer: "Right Click to summon and dismiss your reindeer. The Winter Reindeer only dresses up for Winter Veil." Says it only "dresses up" for Winter Veil. Maybe it'll just be more festive during those 2 weeks?

And the helper says they are busy the rest of the year...for what that is worth. It sounds to me like you get the benefit of no reagent but you can only use it during the holiday. Which I guess is fine but it kind of defeats the purpose. It could just be bad tool-tip writing. Which wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah, the wording is a bit vague. Not being able to summon those pets during the rest of the year, especially since I have a snowball maker, would be (wait for it...)
(...still waiting?)
...A SLAP IN THE FACE!
Noyou Sep 27th 2011 6:42PM
Wait. You can only slap yourself in the face during winter veil!

Yeah, I saw the Winter Helper, too. Could just mean he'll be "srs bsns" during the non-holiday, and wearing sunglasses and lounging during the holiday.
I still stand by my theory, even if that's all it is.

Could be the reindeer only wears his red Winter Veil nose and bells during the holiday ... so outside the holiday, he'll look like ... a moose!

My what BIG antlers you have!

That's not a nice change, in my opinion. Almost all of my characters carry snowballs, just on the off chance that I might want to summon one of the winter pets whenever I feel like it, just to amuse myself or my kids.
Not a nice change at all.

I may be asking this prematurely, but combined with the "no silly" item changes, and the inability to summon the Gnome pets outside of Winter Veil, and the snowman being tiny and now temporary, and the reindeer losing his garb outside of the holiday, is anyone else picking up a "clean up the silly" vibe?
We were told excluded items might be included later, but there's no guarantee they are. I guess if we start seeing other "silly" items getting nerfs, we will know.

Aren't bleeds physical?
Sleutel Sep 27th 2011 6:30PM
Yeah, this was my thought. Of course, ALL Warrior damage is physical, so why would they bother to specify? Unless maybe some dev with too much time on their hands is deciding to get nitpicky--or they're making the language consistent with something else.
Sleutel Sep 27th 2011 6:32PM
Okay, so the exact wording is, "Enrage: Your melee hits have a 3% chance to Enrage you, giving you a 3/7/10% physical damage bonus for 9 sec."
Are there any trinkets that do magical damage that they're trying to exclude?
Sleutel Sep 27th 2011 6:36PM
Sorry for all the spam, but here's something that could be relevant (or could just be a new NPC/boss ability):
"Arcane Flurry: Deals 5525 to 7475 Arcane damage to all enemies within 5 yards."
Luke Sep 27th 2011 6:41PM
Bleeds ignore armor. Physical damage is mitigated by armor.
Xayíde Sep 28th 2011 11:04AM
Bleeds are an exception, they are the only physical damage not mitigated by armor. They are definitely physical though.
The Warrior T12 4pc bonus is magical damage, maybe that's the reason for the change/tooltip clarification. Also, Darkmoon Card: Hurricane.

The Darkmoon Faire map and loading screen make me excited like the casual noob I am.
Homeschool Sep 27th 2011 6:19PM
Important Note: WowheadNews datamined some of the icons, including... T13 gear! It's a little messy, but it looks like Priests will get a Titan-inspired set (including a Titan-style mask), and Hunters are getting Dragon-skull.
Wheeeee....!
Homeschool Sep 27th 2011 6:27PM
And now, MMO-Champion has datamined the sets... Oh, it's beautiful.

Wait, so you can only summon the pet during the holiday? That's kind of a nerf. If they didn't require a reagent during holidays, but could otherwise be summoned with one after them, that would be good. Too much coding perhaps. I guess it's too much to ask for them to work, you know like a normal pet. Glad 4.3 is on the PTR. I Think it will drop the first or second week of November. Unless they want to wait til a week before a certain star wars game comes out in December...
