Generally the only people who gain a real benefit out of spending time on the PTR are addon developers and the hardcore progression raiders who are competing for world/server firsts and want to see the new fights as quickly as possible. That said, its still fun to get on and play around with the new toys like Transmog/Void Storage/etc. I'm neither an addon developer nor competing for world/server firsts, but I still like to get on the PTR for kicks. You can create premade 85 raid geared characters if you've always wondered what it's like to play a Rogue/Priest/whatever at max level, check out the new dungeons, see how T13 looks on your Goblin . . .Just be warned, PTR's are usually extremely full, buggy and laggy. Sometimes even getting on is a chore in and of itself.
