I had no problems adjusting from the NR to cata. I was waearing brutal pvp gear, from level 70 to level all the way through NR and into hyjal and they hit a little harder and had triple the health pools but I could still take on 3 mobs at once without too much trouble. Feral cats are a bit too strong though :)

Well, yes -- the level 70 PvP gear is better for PvE than any quest gear you'll get in Northrend. You have to start running Wrath-endgame dungeons before you start finding upgrades.
