Patch 4.3: Rogue legendary Fangs of the Father official preview
Blizzard is on a roll today with new information and official previews -- not least of which is the new rogue legendary coming in patch 4.3, The Fangs of the Father. Rogues will be tasked with assisting Wrathion, the young prince of the Black Dragonflight, through acts of burglary, stealth, assassination, and manipulation. For their troubles, rogues will be granted a set of daggers that gets progressively more powerful as the quests continue.
The legendary items will provide a stacking agility bonus that culminates in a combo point cost reduction for finishing moves, increases the damage of finishing moves, and unfurls large black wings that look imposing and destructive. Rogues can also call upon the wings on command to act as a built-in slow fall (or to just pop out the wings to look cool). Check out the official video preview of the Fangs of the Father after the jump.

"They wanted to hold me, to keep watch over me – a prisoner in all but name. But I will NOT be held accountable for the sins of my father. My destiny will be my own."- Wrathion, the Black Prince
The Contract
Patch 4.3 will offer the most deadly and experienced rogues the opportunity to finally play a central role in the fate of the world the rogue's way: by manipulating key events from the shadows. Players will travel across continents to accomplish crucial missions of reconnaissance, burglary, infiltration and, of course, assassination. Those familiar with the events that unfolded in the Badlands since the Cataclysm struck may recall the story of Rheastrasza, the ambitious red dragon who acquired a black dragon egg and magically purified it, cleansing it of the Black Dragonflight's corruption. While those events may lead to a more hopeful destiny for Azeroth, it will take cleverness, stealth, skill, and the help of a few friends to unravel the web of intrigue that will reveal what became of the egg... and determine the fate of Deathwing himself.
Wetwork
Rogues willing to do whatever is necessary to ignite a brighter future must first delve into the Dragon's Soul raid dungeon to begin the quest line. Those who prove their prowess within will be set on a collision course with Ravenholdt Manor and the enigmatic Black Prince, Wrathion. This shadowy figure could be the key to victory for the mortal races, but what is his true agenda? Before the truth behind these mysteries are revealed, enterprising assassins will need to fight tense raid battles against Deathwing's most powerful minions, and embark alone on perilous missions to seal the fate of the Black Dragonflight. The quest culminates in the earth-scorching execution of Deathwing himself and a shocking revelation about the true nature of the mission.
What's in it for me?
Rogues who succeed will receive a paired set of daggers that will become increasingly lethal as their bearer progresses along the legendary quest. At the height of their strength, they will be imbued with the vile essence of the Old Gods, as well as the maddened fury of the Black Dragonflight -- bestowing great power upon their bearer. These powers include a stacking increase to Agility which builds until dark wings unfurl from the rogue's back, removing the combo point cost and increasing damage of finishing moves for a short time. In addition, the wings which can be spread on command (with no combat benefit) to slow a rapid descent, allowing the rogue to slowly fall to the ground... or enact a little death from above! When it comes to dealing death, the Fangs of the Father promise legendary killing power to rogues of any specialization.
An incredible adventure and legendary rewards await. The future of all life on Azeroth hangs in the balance. Better get moving.

I wouldn't hold those blades' final form...yuck. But they are awesome and the wings go really well with the tier *.*

Hey! Consider it one of the rare times you'll see "Batman" using Soul Edge as a weapon! That's how I see this.

Soul Calibur V: featuring guest playable character, WoW Rogue.

This seems to imply that the daggers won't let you "fly" like the current Legendary staff does.
Still, pretty awesome design and preview :D

Its been known for a little while that the daggers wouldn't let you fly. Several days ago, a Spanish Blue posted (roughly translated) "the wings are only aesthetic," meaning no flying. Least they can slowfall (which meshes with the first picture, as the rogue in it is in a falling pose, not a hovering one).
Skarn Sep 28th 2011 6:06PM
Imply? It out right says "the wings only slow your fall speed." Definitely no flying involved.
Only falling with excessive style.
Kolonus Sep 30th 2011 11:33AM
The only hotfix that ever bothered me was my brewfest mug not letting me slowfall year round every couple minutes. My main is a rogue. This cannot be a coincidence.

Bummer no rogue flight form

Wrathion? Ultraxion? Why do some of the villains in 4.3 sound more like rejected Pokemon names than villains we heroes need to stop?
Darren Sep 28th 2011 1:00PM
Wrathion isn't a villain.
Kylenne Sep 28th 2011 1:05PM
Sometimes I think CDev's name generator is stuck on the "11 year old Power Rangers fanfic writer" setting.

He may not be a villian, yet. It's been hinted at that he's not at all as good as he was hoped to be.
From the very first mention of him in this patch, Blizzard started referring to him in a slightly negative way.
Personally, I am tired of Black Dragonflight villians. The whole point of the egg was that there was a purified black dragon, and he might lead the Black Dragonflight back to legit status, and not just be one more flight that is an enemy to everyone. It's going to really suck if they pull a "Now he's taking over, and he's pissed about his treatment. Now he's leading the Black Dragonflight in a new crusade against mortals!"
Necrosaro Sep 28th 2011 1:23PM
It's one of the evolved forms of Eevee. You have to use a Black Dragon Egg on Eevee to force it to evolve into Wrathion.
To evolve into Ultraxion you have to use a Rock Shard during the Hour of Twilight.

It's been a longstanding tradition for male Black Dragons to have names that end with -ion or -ian. See also: Sartharion, Nefarian, Neltharion, Hemathion, Sabellian,
Eddy Sep 28th 2011 2:27PM
It isn't the suffix that's the problem, it's that the man's name is Wrath, and that doesn't ever lead to anything good. It's been proven that, to some degree, your name shapes you- kids with names that were popular the year that they were born are more likely to be popular or normal, and kids with exotic names are more likely to be outcast. With a name like Wrathion, I'm sure everyone is treating him like he's a villain, so villain he probably will become.
That model is pretty sweet up at the top there, though, and it just makes our current models and armor look distressingly outdated.

Does he do evil dances that put you in trances ?
RetPallyJil Sep 28th 2011 3:47PM
So ... you wanted him to be Lollipoppian, Prince of the Black Dragonflight?
Killik Sep 28th 2011 5:41PM
I presume they're making the new black dragon aspect an antagonist, so they can keep the Black Dragonflight as villains. This way they don't have to go revamp a load of content, removing dragons, once big DW kicks the bucket.
Skarn Sep 28th 2011 6:11PM
I agree with Drakk. This seemed a spectacular opportunity to "reform" the Black Flight, but it sounds like their new Prince will be just as evil, but not insane.
That's disappointing.
Shinae Sep 28th 2011 12:58PM
Wrathion looks like an ifrit or jinn. Can please I use his gear for transmogrifying?
