The more I hear about this LFR feature, the more it becomes a "why bother?". It can't be used for gearing considering it won't be dropping tier (unless I'm mistaken), which means no class restriction. This means that IF something drops that you can use you could potentially be rolling against half the raid for it. Since repeat runs will only generate new groups with revolving players you can't even count on being a shoo-in the next time the item drops, like you would in a guild raid. Also, since the only VP you'll get out of there will be for downing the final boss I think it will be the lucky PUG indeed that cashes in on that. Not to seem like a crybaby I would like to point out that the LFR will be an excellent raid "simulator" for practicing the run at a milder difficulty level and I totally intend to use it as such. Some of us ADD types don't really have the retention needed to master encounters from walk-throughs and videos.TL;DR - The LFR feature may be useful to some degree but, like Void Storage, the magical glow of expectation has waned a bit.
