The Queue: Sealab 2021 Insider

I'm not exactly sure who asked that we start Sealab 2021 Insider in Tuesday's Queue. But here we are. Let's go.
Siaperas asked:
What is your most annoying experience with a player randomly going afk during an encounter, and what was that player's excuse?
There was a tank who enjoyed drugs, and he was our tank assigned to Illidan. He ended up AFKing through the last 30% of the fight in order to go and get enlightened (this was possible because our healers were amazing). I found out he AFKed after we had killled him and offered him the Bulwark of Azinoth. Instead of giving it to him, we DEed it in front of him and gkicked his butt (all of us other tanks had it). His rant was amazing; I wish I had recorded it. I got an email from him 10 hours or so after he was kicked; he told me that he was going to ... sully my shoes ... at BlizzCon.
He remains on my ignore list on one of my toons to this very day. I never did see him IRL.
loop_not_defined asked:
Will we be seeing a guide to "Things you cannot transmogrify" now that we can test it?
It's going to be part of our overall coverage to list or explain things like that as we see them. We don't have such an exact list right now, however.
Wybenga42 asked:
With 4.3 now on PTR, how long do you think it will take for us non-PTR players to start seeing information on the armor sets offered by the Darkmoon Faire for transmogrification?
Blizzard has said it's still got work to do on the Darkmoon Faire, and I suspect that we'll be seeing more of that in the next few weeks. I doubt 4.3 will be on the PTR for more than two months, so expect such things relatively soon.
Arkonn asked:
Any chance of Blizz ever allowing us to use reputation standards in Firelands? MOAR REP NAO!
I don't see Blizzard changing any of the rep gain mechanics in this expansion. Yes, they can be tedious, but they're a helluva lot better mechanics overall than they were in classic or The Burning Crusade. Complain not -- the "old days" were worse.
Foster asked:
How do I join the 4.3 ptr? I had 4.2 downloaded but when I open it I cant select a realm to go onto. Do I need to un install then re install?
Yes, it does sound like you'll need to uninstall and then reinstall the PTR client. Download the latest PTR client from your Battle.net account page.

I'm telling you, it's an addon you have turned on to set an automatic loot master. Is was written about in an addon spotlight before which is was where I recommended it to my boyfriend from.
devonaelick Sep 29th 2011 12:26PM
AutoLootMaster? I've got that one too.
Lyly, you are my new favourite person. Thank you.
Dave Sep 29th 2011 12:28PM
Thanks, lyly. Gonna take care of that when I get home tonight.
lyly Sep 29th 2011 12:34PM
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/auto-loot-master.aspx that is the addon. I dug through the old articles to find the name for you.

The radio just started playing that Police song as I was reading this. A little spooky...

To fix it (since the addon doesn't look like it's been updated in a while), follow these steps:
1. Navigate to <your WoW directory>\interface\addons\AutoLootMaster
2. Open AutoLootMaster.lua in your preferred text editor (vim, notepad, etc) (If you're not familiar with looking at/editing code, you may want to make a backup copy of the file first)
3. Delete or comment out (by prepending with --) lines 97 (print("googoo"); in almEventHandle) and 144 (print("gaagaa"); in almOnUpdate)
4. Save the file

In relation to the breakfast topic, what is the reward for hardcore raiders now? I mean sure, they can down heroic content incredibly quickly which is a nice accomplishment but what there is less of downing a boss is the accomplishment and more of a trend towards downing a boss FIRST is the only accomplishment. Would blizzard ever implement another level within a tier for the hard core raiders? Something casual raiders wouldn't be able to access easily until even the next tier or two? A new level of gear such as artifacts?
llcjay2003 Sep 29th 2011 11:08AM
For one thing, it would help to look at the numbers of people who actually clear heroic content while it is still relevant and not nerfed. It is a pretty low percentage. After that, there are the Glory achievements. After that, there are alts.
There is plenty for the hardcore players to do.
Ilmyrn Sep 29th 2011 11:12AM
As far as artifacts go, I think epics need to be thinned out a bit.
Go back to MC, BWL, even AQ. Blues were a real part of progression, even in a raid setting. Sure, part of that was the sheer size of forty man raids making it that much more time to gear up in full purples, but still.
I won't deny that I felt the old thrill when I finally replaced my last blue in Cat (Shoulders, I think), but let's make epics mean something again.
puffcake Sep 29th 2011 11:12AM
I'd have to ask to what end? Transmogrification is going to eliminate any outward indication of tier gear obtained through current content, so the only way we'd actually "see" that these raiders have "artifacts" is a. if they don't transmogrify, or b. if we inspect each and every player. It would seem that titles and mounts would be the only outward symbols of hardcore achievement left with the new changes coming. Besides, the whole green, blue, purple thing just doesn't carry any meaning anymore, it's all about stats and iLvl.
(cutaia) Sep 29th 2011 11:17AM
Gear is a means to an end. I'll never understand the idea that if you paint heroic gear's name with a different color -- despite it having the exact same stats, usefulness, and method of acquiring it -- it suddenly becomes more "special" or more of a reward.
It's very interesting psychology at work here. People are essentially asking for a placebo effect.
Shinae Sep 29th 2011 11:17AM
Hardcore raiders' reward is the satisfaction of beating the hardest content available. And achievements . And getting a "heroic" tag in green text on their gear.
DarthCzop Sep 29th 2011 11:18AM
Blizzard seems pretty intent on making all aspects of the game accessible to as much of the player base as possible, so it's not very likely they will implement another tier of gear or any other such strategy to stroke the egos of hardcore raiders.
Bragging rights will have to suffice.
Sinthar Sep 30th 2011 6:21AM
In relation to the breakfast topic - why not post it there then?
As to what is the reward for HC raiders - hold it - surely the RAIDING is what you enjoy. You get the best drops, and achievements. What ELSE do you think you are entitled to???
It sounds to me like you just want MORE EPEEN ITEMS. Well guess what, the 90+% of players who pay do NOT want to pay for a elite level just for the vast minority to then slag them off about.
Grovinofdarkhour Sep 29th 2011 11:35AM
What was the reward before? Are you alleging that it is no longer there?
Are you expecting Blizzard to send a bunch of hookers and blow?
I just don't understand the thought process motivating your question.
Matheus314 Sep 29th 2011 11:50AM
Guess what?
Hardcore players SHOULD NOT be ONLY playing WoW.
There's a plenty of other games out there, and all of them deserve your utter hardcore awesomesauceness of firsting them all.
But don't unsubcribe wow for that. Come back and play WoW when you get angry that you are bored with the other games too.
We'll be here waiting for your silent comeback. Oh yeah, we will.
