I'm currently on my fourth Nostromo since the original Belkin version. I couldn't play anything without it.
I don't care for the software that comes with it, but it's easy to write my own macros with AutoHotkey.
The thumb pad makes a great 'shift' selector. I map the four cardinals to both left and right Shift and Alt keys, which can be combined into shift-alt combos in the four non-cardinals. This allows each of the 14 buttons to be modified 8 ways without any hand travel for 128 unique actions on one keypad.
With the Naga in my right hand that gives me another 108 unique keybindings without ever moving my hands from my controllers.
