The '80s called -- they said they wanted someone to parody She Blinded Me With Science. After all, that was one of the best songs to come from the decade, and a whole new generation of geeks is missing out on it. Palette-Swap Ninja heard the call and stepped up to the plate.
I Tried to Play Alliance is an amazingly executed parody. Not only does it really sound like the original song, but Palette-Swap Ninja really nailed the vocals. If you're not paying attention closely to the lyrics, you might well mistake it for the original song.
Overall, this parody is just fantastic. My hat's off to the creators, and I hope they keep doing more.
Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
Well-written song but does this really count as machinima? There's hardly anything added by what minor visuals are offered in this video. I could have had the same experience just by listening.
Personally I like this better than the "OMG I HAVE AWESOME VIDEO.. but I suck at singing and my writing is lousy!" types of machinima that we get 90% of the time. If he had an awesome video to go with this, I think it'd be nice. but it's not a requirement. Not everyone owns sony vegas. >.>
I take that back. I went to their website and checked out their gear >.> (man, that guitar collection makes me drool).. they do use vegas. So.. yeah. You win one point, dude. One point. Other point still in the 'rather have good music than awesome video' corner.
It's not, but moviewatch is supposed to be for all kinds of things like this. MrVoletron is on here every once in a while and his work is just music. I found it weird that yesterday they gave the Mine of Worldcraft video its own article instead of just putting it here.
Woot!!! I love this, My hubbie and I switched to Ally to another guild a few months ago, and this song is so true. We are both Worgen, the only race that was even an option.
That was hilarious. As a long time horde player who now has exactly one alliance toon (I wanted to see their quests!) I was laughing at a lot of the sentiments in the song. Amazing parody.
Holy crap was that ever spot on! Always loved the original and this was extremely well done. He even sounds like the guy, which I didn't think would be possible!
Seconded on all counts. I grew up listening to Weird Al Yankovic, so I've got really high standards for parody; being able to write and have the new lyrics match the meter of the old is an absolute must. This one was very well-done.
And particularly hilarious to me because I chiefly play Alliance and feel the same way whenever I try to play Horde. @_@
I give the song a 5 out of 5, simply amazing and true to the original in timing, cadence, and even the super awesome '80s effects. The only issue I had was that the opening words were barely audible but at least it had the lyrics right there, but that's just me being a perfectionist as it didn't detract from the song overall.
The video I can't give more than a 2.5 of 5, with no actual animation in it, even the amazing job the author did timing everything (proper pictures, graphics, and lyrics) with the music (which was excellent, I know how hard it is to do timing on a video) it still doesn't do justice to the amazing song, I would have loved to see him running around Northshire or Ironforge, basically to see what he was saying.
Overall I'm giving it a 4 of 5, the outstanding work on the song coupled with the superb timing warrant this video a good rating despite the lack of animation. I'm also downloading this song, it's just that good. :)
having heard that first part off of atheist experience videos a million times it does indeed sound very impressively like the original. the vocal effect is bang on :)

I think the cheesy minimalist visuals actually add to the hilarity. I love it!

I have to say... as a child of the 80's, I wholeheartedly approve. Great job on this parody, Palate-Swap Ninja!

Same here.
(Also, don't feel bad - not everyone's cut out to play a gnome. :)

That was truly epic. The video wasn't anything special, but the lyrics and performance were incredible.

I hear the original ALL the time at work. That was truely and epic parody. Well done!!

I had forgotten just how lousy the original song is.
