The Queue: Bedroom Eyes
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.
Here's the latest from the Dum Dum Girls, Bedroom Eyes. Dee Dee Dum Dum (one Miss Kristen Gundred) used to be in a San Diego band I adored, Grand Ole Party; but, like most bands I discover before they hit it big, they broke up after their first album was released. The Dum Dum Girls are a way different animal than GOP, but at least their latest album is an improvement over the first, which sounded like it was recorded in a public bathroom.
Necromann asked:
This morning, I queued as healer for heroics on my pally alt. After the first pull in GB, the group told me to leve or they would kick me because my gear sucked, my pally is 342 equipped, which is plenty to heal heroics in. (On my disc priest, I've been healing heroics since everyone was 330 or so) I've had similar occurrences happen to me, my friends, and pugs. My question is has anyone else noticed a rise in hostility in the LFD recently, or have I just had a bunch bad luck in my groups?
Hard to base trends on anecdotal evidence. There will always be jerks in the Dungeon Finder, just as there will always be guys who AFK to smoke, or mages who roll on spirit gear, or tanks who run in full resilience gear. It's the facts of life, the facts of li-i-ife.

Alykii asked:
We've seen where Epic gems are coming from, but where do JC'ers get the cuts? I took a peek on the PTR and there weren't any available from the token vendor. Are these going to be world drops? Retarded faction grinds through raids (my JC doesn't raid) or yet another set of eye-gouging dailies like IQD?
Honestly, we don't really know yet. I hate to give that answer, but it's true!
TimR asked:
Regular Raids and Raid Finder Raids are tracked completely separate, right? Meaning, If I do a Raid Finder Raid on Wednesday and down two bosses, I won't be locked out of loot from those bosses on my regular guild raid on Thursday? I'm almost sure everything is separate, just want to confirm.
Correct. Raid Finder raids and regular/heroic raids are two totally separate things. You won't get locked out of loot or attempts from regular/heroic raids from doing the same fights in Raid Finder.
Vacasta asked:
This may be a noob question, but why are some friendly's nametags blue and others green?
Green nametags indicate that the person is currently flagged for PVP.
Markgodber asked:
Could we ever see proper Rogue tanking in the future, like they have over in Rift? (i.e. designed and implemented as part of WoW's design, not players pushing the existing spec and gear to solo lower level instances.) Or would this make Rogues imbalanced in PVP etc etc....
I'm not going to say it's impossible, it's just really unlikely. There are enough tanking classes right now, and Blizzard is pretty unlikely to just give everybody a fourth spec. Besides, would you really want to go through the nerf/buff roller coaster on yet another tank? Remember the death knight tanking experiment? I sure do.
Revynn asked:
Why does my Crossbow sound like a gun? As far as I know I have no addons to change the sound of a ranged weapon.
The Lava Bolt Crossbow's shooting sound is currently bugged and can't be fixed without a patch.

Looking through the mounts that were datamined by MMO-Champion, and subsequently posted here:
http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/09/29/the-overachiever-examining-patch-4-3s-new-achievements/#continued
I noticed three that really grabbed my attention. Swift Forest Strider, Swift Shorestrider, and Swift Springstrider. Looking through my mounts, aside from the Swift gryphons, the only Swift mounts I have are the racial mounts, the Trial of the Champions Seals mounts, and the singular Swift White Hawkstrider. I also noticed that the Swift racial mounts came in sets of threes, too. Could these mounts be the racial mounts for a new race? If so, where are the non-Swift racial mounts? Would this mean the new race starts at a level so high, it wouldn't need the non-Swift mounts?
mxcarne Oct 1st 2011 12:39PM
Interesting onservation. My only rebuttal would be - why put them in game prior to adding the classes? If blizz sticks to trends we won't have the mounts prior to the classes being available. Now blizz is a strange animal and it's completely possible you are onto something.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. I think the reason there aren't more "swift" mounts is simply because it would be silly and unoriginal to use it constantly as a naming scheme.
Besides, not all racial mounts use the "swift" keyword for their epic mounts. Elekks, for example, use the word "Great", if I recall correctly.
Noyou Oct 1st 2011 2:01PM
Well I think one factor simply is that all mounts scale up now. So "Swift" isn't really necessary. Which makes you ask the question why are they using it at all? That would be an awesome thing to do, giving us a sneak peak at a race based on a new mount.
What would a pandaren or ethereal ride if they were going to be a playable race?
Hob Oct 1st 2011 2:32PM
The tooltip for each mount currently says, Requires Level 20, Requires Apprentice Riding. There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency for level 20 or level 40 requirements for guild, store, card game, or dungeon mounts.
But swift racial mounts do require level 40, and they do require Journeyman Riding.
So... guild, store, card game, dungeon, or some other fifth thing?

I've heard similar anecdotes for people criticizing gear for a healer with no justifiable wrong-doing on their part (they did okay, if not stellar).
I think we're just running into a circular problem that happens every time a new batch of content is imminent: people are bored, and they get nasty when they're bored. We're getting impatient, and that means people who would usually be cruel but stop themselves because they feel the need to, don't.
Heck last night me and my friend were talking about going into random heroics and purposefully screwing with people because we were so bored. We didn't (he was a tad drunk) but, I'm sure people who have nasty personalities have no such argument against being jerks.
I'd just like to add this isn't a rant on people. There are some awesome people out there, but due to lack of communication with them, we mostly only hear about/talk to the jerks, since they're the very vocal minority.

Same mentality as DPS who scream "My class is underpowered" when their spec of choice isn't in the top 3 on every fight. I'm not sure what it is about WoW that changes the meaning of "acceptable" and "okay" to "the absolute best".
Skigi Oct 1st 2011 12:39PM
When I was gearing up my holy pally, I actually noticed players commenting that I was doing extremely well for my gear level (barely getting into heroics), so I think it's hit and miss.
Moeru Oct 1st 2011 12:40PM
@Shade I know what you mean. I play weird spec choices, like combat rogue (full honor set and working on conquest) in pvp and BM hunter (avg 15k-20k in non-raid gear) in dungeons, but people still scoff and belittle my choices before even seeing what I can do.
It's like people forget this game is about having fun.
Moeru Oct 1st 2011 12:44PM
@Skigi Yeah, you can get, rarely, people who compliment and communicate in a fun matter. Those are really nice runs for me. But at the moment, heroics are becoming mechanical and uneventful for most people. I actually enjoy people who are new or undergeared in heroics in the dungeon finder. It makes it challenging and fun, at least for a while.
I can admit I have a bad habit of no compliment a good group on my pally when I'm tanking, which I need to do, but it's easy for an impatient DPS to ruin a group.
Spellotape Oct 1st 2011 1:22PM
Sometimes people with low item levels or gear that seemingly looks "bad" aren't best-equipped to heal/tank/dps the dungeon they get into - sometimes they're trolls, and sometimes they're just not very good or their gear holds them back from keeping up. For every person unjustly kicked from a group there's probably another person who in the same gear honestly couldn't fulful their role in the group and was a liability.
I don't think this justifies people being jerks, but random groups aren't always in the best position to carry someone who can't do their job (although sometimes you do get that great tank who cycles their CDs to keep themselves and the group up, the healer who can carry the bad positioning/no aggro, or the DPS who is just so efficient it doesn't matter what either tank or healer do etc). Unfortunately, some people would rather get rid of potential "issues" before they even occur, hence a lot of unfair kickings amongst the maybe deserved ones.
Moeru Oct 1st 2011 1:28PM
I'd rather give people a chance on a boss before I kick them. The problem with the dungeon finder is, unlike before, there is little to no consequence to removing someone you don't like. You can just instantly replace them (tank or otherwise).
Killik Oct 1st 2011 1:52PM
Most PUG horror stories seem to run along the lines of "everybody in the group was a jerk, except me." While I don't doubt the Dungeon Finder has its idiots, sometimes you have to question the source.
Maz Oct 1st 2011 11:36PM
When something like this happens, I'd say it's totally acceptable to report the people for abuse of the LFD system.
lownwolf Oct 1st 2011 12:25PM
Have we heard any indication of whether or not Firelands will still award VP when Dragon Soul releases? Current trends would point towards yes, but it's a new "feature"
madfigs Oct 1st 2011 12:44PM
If they're bumping the VP value for heroics and zandalaris, I can't imagine they'd remove the VP from Firelands.
Killik Oct 1st 2011 1:42PM
The question should be: Will Tier 11 raids still drop VP after Patch 4.3? My money is on yes, but at a reduced rate.
Firelands will almost certainly continue to drop VP in 4.3, just as Tier 11 raids still drop VP in 4.2.

The perception of LFD groups that people "need" to have the most current raid ilvl to run the dungeons happened in Wrath, too. People forgot they were perfectly capable of doing those instances in lower level gear; they're more interested in dashing through as fast as possible, and want to stand in the fire while doing it so the healer better be able to keep them up through that. Moving ruins DPS after all! *Sigh*
If you haven't gone through Molten Front stuff to boost your ilvl yet, I suggest it, and just keep running the instances anyway in the meantime. Not everyone's going to be so snotty so long as you manage your role competently, even pointing out you've healed, etc these instances before so you're good to go regardless of ilvl.
Telwar Oct 1st 2011 1:10PM
^ This irritates me so much.
I remember people getting upset at someone doing 1500 dps in a Wrath Heroic, despite that's what they were tuned for. I've even caught my guildies complaining about people doing "only" 6k dps, despite that, again, being what you need for Cata non-troll heroics.
Now, some people don't know what they're doing, this is true. But If you're doing enough to get through the instance, there's no point in complaining about it.
Noyou Oct 1st 2011 2:23PM
I'm with you on that Telwar. I have one guildy in particular that doesn't seem to remember how it was when she first ran thru Wrath heroics the first time. Now she frequently bashes half the tanks and healers while leveling up through DF. And the worst part is, she is far from a top flight player. People achieve a little success on a video game and all of a sudden they think they are the shiz.
