Your argument that our stupid mechanics are okay because someone else has even stupider mechanics is spurious at best. Having to keep Inquisition up all the time is annoying and unnecessary. Paladins were a lot more fun where every button we pushed put some smack on mobs as opposed to keeping up a buff that used to proc by itself. If getting to push one extra button to bring a buff up is your idea of interesting complexity, than you really need to get out more. I'd rather they add complexities that were more three dimensional than "push button for extra damage". Like button a party wide buff on a rotatable cool down or maybe something that buffs my defense and does damage or even a debuff that doesn't have a moronic rotation like Druids have. Maybe make consecrate more interesting to buff people standing on it or debuff mobs in it, while it does damage. Then position has an added element of strategy to it.Paladins were far more fun when they just waded in, pushed buttons and stuff died. Anyone who was bored with that was playing the wrong game.On a side note, I wish consecrate would get a new graphic. Everyone else gets these intricate circles with great art all over the floor and we get dirty lava.

I think this needs to be uprated and addressed.The retadin playstyle in wrath was one of basically whack-a-mole. There was a small priority, but the idea behind ret dps was that it was generally an easy rotation, and what made a ret stand out is the utility he would bring to a raid, like raid wall, bop, or i remember some rets using righteous fury to "tank" valkyr on heroic lich king so they wouldn't aggro healers.For people who wanted a more complex rotation, you have death knights, rogues, feral druids; for warriors (regarding wrath now, not cata), their rotation would be dynamic based on their rage consumption, but they generally had a set rotation.Ret DPS really was the only pure "whack-a-mole" type dps, and people who liked that playstyle gravitated towards it. It gave rise to a lot of the "lolrets" who were generally considered baddies, but who cares, it was fun, and the good rets did indeed shine above the bads. No, the variance wasn't as much as say a an affliction warlock, but you weren't playing ret to have a hyper complex rotation.The irony is that Holy Paladins are waaaay more fun and interesting now with the HP system, while the system was originally designed for rets. (can't speak for prot, never play it.) I wonder if blizz was able to simply just make ret rotations a complet FCFS rotation again - i bet quite a few people would come back to it (more than would leave it in my opinion).
