How about when you create a new character that can use a BoA item you've purchased or unlocked they are simply created with those items equipped? This could solve the cross faction cross realm sharing issue also.

Hybrids. What armor would a paladin start with? Not to mention that there are no caster plate pve heirlooms, and some people just use the cloth for all their casters....

Or a token, actually, since not every heirloom "fits all." After unlocking "Heirloom helmet," "Heirloom Cloak," and so on, when you start a new character, a Helmet/Cloak/Chest token is waiting in the mailbox along side of their Collectors Edition pets.My only concern: Linking the Tokens to a guild. Right now, the helmets and cloaks are guild rewards. That would be... troubling to me if all heirlooms were now linked to a guild. Man, they don't even have a proposed system, and here I am, complaining. I must need more coffee...

I guess I wasn't really raking guild perk heirlooms into account. All the JP heirloms I bought prior to Cata though. Pallys and warriors use mail until level 40 and then it changes to plate. So the level 1 pally alt would start with mail. However, if you only bought leather heirlooms for your druid alt then I dimly know. Maybe you're just SOL?

The problem with a token system is that you only get one set of gear, and dual-spec is unlocked as early as level 30. With the current system, you can have two sets of heirlooms for different roles.

Heirloom armor scales to class/level requirements.. IE: Agi Mail armor will scale to Leather for starting hunters.. I just learned this not too long ago..

@loopGeh, that's a pretty obvious flaw there, t'ain't it? Maybe you get a token to unlock an armor vendor, and can pick up the version you need? Or impliment an "unlimited" trade in ability? I guess my concern about the vendor is how much would the Heirlooms cost for a new character? Would you need to mail 1000G to yourself to get all the parts you've unlocked? What about off-server alts? And @primalThe scaling is somewhat limited. I dont think a plate heirloom would scale to leather or cloth, and cloth heirlooms won't scale up. The scaling is based on the "typical" class usage, as in hunters/shammies start in leather and end up in mail, so heirlooms intended for them do the same. But a pallie is meant to do mail and plate, so heirlooms "meant" for other classes don't upgrade to mail/plate for their useage.

What about multi-role classes? Druid is the most obvious. We need Agilty, Spirit, Int, or Stam, depending on our current role, but other classes could need Int/Spirit or Agil/Int/Spirit or whatever also. Already having our gear on our character when made isn't the answer.
