I've had a disfavor for heirlooms for a while. The main reason is that it ruins any fun in obtaining gear while leveling. An otherwise awesome and pretty chest piece drops? Sorry, heirloom's 10% XP gain beats it. It also kind of ruins the game visually when you're in a group and 80% of the people wear the exact same gear. To some extent, transmog might change this, but the fact remains that people will be wearing the same almost half dozen pieces of gear from 1-80,85.One idea I've tossed around was ditching the current heirloom system and instead, put the XP gains on rings or trinkets, or maybe even tabards. If they put the bonuses on one ring and/or one trinket, that still leaves you a second slot to fill with earned loot. For additional XP gains, the rings/trinkets can be upgraded like the old Dalaran rings.
