In another life, I would be a full-time musician. I went to school for it for a while, played regularly with some jazz groups, really enjoyed my time. My fianceé is a musician, and her parents are quite successful instrumentalists themselves, having played for many years in the top military groups out in Washington, D.C. They showed Katie and me the above video over the weekend -- and what'd I think?

Adamjgp asked:
I've been trying to keep track of all the LFR and 4.3 news, but inevetibally things slip through. According to a Blue you only get loot once per raid boss. Does this count across all raid difficulty tiers?
No, it only counts towards the Raid Finder raiding that you do. You're free to get loot from normal or heroic modes that you run with whatever group or guild you run with on your server.
Standard disclaimer here that something could change, that this is still the PTR ... etc. ... etc. ...
Kytemidnight asked:
Is there any way to get a feel for a server's community before transferring to it for real? Level one alts generally just get answers like "Nope." or "Yep."
I just went through this myself when cozying up to a new guild recently (awesome guild, by the way, and one that I can raid with, which is even better). The best way, in my opinion, is to look at the realm forums, scope out what some of the guild sites look like, and check out the Armory activity of some of the major players in those guilds. You'll get an idea pretty quick how progressed people are, what the atmosphere is like, and how good the overall playerbase is.
Don't forget to make an alt to hop on the AH and check out the economy. My one regret about the realm I transferred to is that the economy sucks in a big way. It wouldn't have stopped me from transferring, mind you, but it's something I should have paid attention to earlier. 350g for a red intellect gem is just dumb.
Brandon asked:
Have they said anything about the Therazane shoulder enchants being made BoA in 4.3? I've gotten exalted on two characters already and really don't want to do it again. Thanks!
Nope, and they're still BOP on the PTR. Unless Blizzard makes a change, looks like they won't be BOA this expansion cycle.
Chaosdefined asked:
After having read Thrall: Twilight Of The Aspects, does this mean that ingame we are going to see Thrall's character renamed to Go'el in the future?
No, I really, really doubt Blizzard will rename Thrall. He's too iconic to the franchise to create confusion with.
Luke asked:
Given what we understand about previous expansions, the Dev team's new ideology, and the fact that 4.3 will have the final encounter of this expansion, is there any good conjecture or reliable information regarding what will transpire between the end of this expansion and the beginning of the next?
There are a lot of rumors and unsubstantiated facts that have been floating around. We're not publishing these because they're so unreliable. The simple truth is that we don't really know what the next expansion will be about until Blizzard announces it in a couple of weeks.
Yes, the Pandaren trademark was discovered, but that doesn't tell us a whole lot about the direction of the game or anything else, and definitely not enough to deduce what's going to happen between now and the next expansion.

Did I miss somewhere the Old God behind Deathwing's madness? I know that they basically planted the idea of the Demon/Dragon Soul (was that retconned, BTW?) in his head, but was it an Old God that is now dead, one that we have not yet encountered, or do we simply not know?
I thought we'd see another Old God encounter this expansion; the "man behind the curtain" so the speak, though it looks like that's not happening.
MattKrotzer Oct 6th 2011 11:06AM
They mentioned at Blizzcon that it was named N'zoth, and hinted that we'd see it, but that was the first and last we've heard of it, as far as I'm aware.

This situation seems to be like an April Fool's day when you tell a gullible friend that at a random point in the day you're going to play a really nasty trick on them.
Then the trick is that you weren't really going to play a trick.

Also, google the word "gullible." =P

There's old god related hijinks going on in Stranglethorn, something about a pulsing blue gem that whispers to you (sounds familiar, don't it) but no specific old god is mentioned by name.

Blizzard introduced a LOT of lore this expansion that hasn't seen resolution. The story of BC and Wrath were both sort of self contained, in that killing Illidan/Arthas basically concluded the story for those places. The stories started in Cataclysm won't end with Deathwing.
That said, if you're into Archaelogy, there's a little bit you can know about N'Zoth. He seems to live under or near Vash'jir, so he's likely not just behind Deathwing, but also the rise of the Naga.
(see http://www.wowhead.com/item=64482 )
The speculation is that we'll tackle N'Zoth, the Naga (and possibly Azshara), and figure out what happened to Neptulon in the next expansion.

It could be in the 4.4 filler patch.
Blackdemon Oct 6th 2011 11:36AM
The only mention of N'Zoth after the Chris Metzen interview is in the Dragon Soul Raid Preview text as far as I know.
"Countless ages ago, Warlord Zon'ozz and his soldiers waged endless war against the forces of C'Thun and Yogg-Saron. Millennia have passed, but the warlord still serves the chaotic might of the Old God N'Zoth. Deathwing has now unleashed this legendary faceless one to crush the defenders of Wyrmrest Temple."

Meh, the Old Gods are over-rated.
As the old song says,
"N'Zoth never did give nothin' to the Deathwing,
That he didn't, didn't already have."
Khirsah Oct 6th 2011 3:47PM
@Didax...I Googled the word "gullible" and there is no entry. Weird.
Didax Oct 6th 2011 4:13PM
I know! It's like the anti-boy-who-cried-wolf. I.e. did you know that if you google the word "gullible" there are no results?"
Well played, Google. Well played.

Slow...with economy down, nobody can afford anything.
But you should talk to my brother, Lucky Charms...

You know it's a slow day when even Krotzer is trolling.

Unfortunately, silly rabbit, they are still for kids.

While it may not be prudent for you to publish the "lot of rumors and unsubstantiated facts that have been floating around" in an official Wow Insider blog post, perhaps you could fill us in on some of the more juicy ones in the comments?
Noyou Oct 6th 2011 11:09AM
My translation: they may have some insider knowledge or strong suppositions but don't/can't spill the beans yet. Now we, on the other hand can throw down wild conjecture or otherwise wish/hope/guess til our fruity pebbles are all gone.
Grovinofdarkhour Oct 6th 2011 11:16AM
What if our pebbles are not fruity, but rather, of the cocoa persuasion?
Noyou Oct 6th 2011 11:19AM
Cocoa pebbles is my favorite cereal of all time. It has withstood the, "They are too sweet" label you place on things as you get older. That said, fruity pebbles seemed to fit the ramble I was on. Feel free to substitute cereals as needed. :p

Keep in mind that WoW Insider is a blog that is not officially sanctioned, managed, or supported by Blizzard. Their access to information is based solely on the contacts they have in the company, and while their blog is likely one that the Blizzard CMs and Devs pay attention to, there's nothing "official" or "authorized" about what happens on this blog.
All that being said, Holisky's reluctance to do any tinfoil-hattery re: the next expansion probably has more to do with the absence of any more information than what's already known: Blizzard filed a trademark for a computer product called "Mists of Pandaria" in a manner that mirrors their trademark filings for past expansions. There really hasn't been any other information, whether datamined, rumoured, leaked, or what-have-you, to support or debunk the possibility that this trademark is for the next expansion to WoW.
If Holisky and the WoW Insider team are privy to any unreleased information, they are likely bound by an NDA to not discuss it, and are acting with professional courtesy in being subtle about it. My suspicion is that they don't know anything new; Blizzard is being much more careful about controlling the flow of information this time around, which is why we didn't see any unexpected model leaks on the 4.3 PTR.
