Phat Loot Phriday: Westfall Chicken

"And they just ... gave you the information?" Lolegolas asked. "They just told where these people were, didn't wonder if you might be a spy?" The Blood Elf's eyebrows were dubious -- well, the Blood Elf was dubious; his eyebrows just displayed that emotion.
"I had my Alliance citizenship proof," the Worgen said, gesturing at a small chicken next to him.
"A chicken?" Throgg asked.
"A Westfall chicken," the druid said. "It's an Alliance fowl."
"Oh the Alliance is f ... " Throgg started, but Lolegolas cut him off with a shout of "Don't!"
The druid looked bemused. "Only Alliance can get this particular poultry, and only in Westfall. It's quite a prestigious plucker. A clever clucker."
Lolegolas kept his hand clasped tightly over the Orc's mouth and gave the druid an angry look. "You're doing this on purpose. And besides, the Undead have the chickens, too."
Westfall Chicken
Type It's a chicken. It clucks, y'all. It clucks and it clucks and it clucks, y'all. It's clucker than cluck, and it clucks y'all.
How to get it OK, go to Brill or Westfall. Find a chicken. And spam the slash command /chicken at it. Eventually, you'll get the quest CLUCK! I promise, I'm telling the truth. You can do it as either Horde or Alliance, in the appropriate town.
How to get rid of it You learn the chicken as a pet, so it's not like it's taking up bag space.

The time you have to /cluck is much, much shorter now... I remember clucking for a good 5 minutes several years ago.

Oh god, I remember this too. It just took forever and ever, and you started to doubt your sanity and the sanity of those who told you how to get the pet. The chicken would never, EVER turn green, you were sure! It was all just a cruel lie. And then, and then it happens! Suddenly the chicken likes you and you swear you will never, ever do that quest again.
Until you want the chicken on an alt.

So do I, felt like a fool whilst doing it but the reward was worth it.

/chicken X5, in a macro.
Spam it. Chicken gives quest. Done.
The problem being, being have been reported for spamming the emote. Even doing it manually. I am serious. They put in a quest requiring you to spam an emote, and if someone is in the area and reports it, you could get actioned.
They probably go a little easier on it now, tho.
But unless they have changed something, you don't get the pet from just spamming it. You have to go get the feed, and give it to the chicken.

This is honestly one of the strangest quests in the world, and I'm constantly amazed anyone ever discovered it.
Eddy Oct 7th 2011 8:20PM
I imagine that there was some datamined link that connected the special feed to the quest, and I can understand people being curious about special chicken feed and discovering that it was used for some quest that existed in the game.
But the mind that made the logical leap that a quest called CLUCK! required you to /chicken, over and over and over again...

Don't forget, you'll actually need to feed it to take it with you...
...and never feed it again.
Ametrine Oct 8th 2011 3:24AM
well it IS "special feed" after all.
Sleutel Oct 7th 2011 8:15PM
I'm still a bit sad that they made it so easy for Horde players to get it now. I got it on my Horde alts the hard way, so it was a bit more prestigious.
Just a note, you can get the quest from pretty much any chicken in the game. The only location restriction is who sells the feed.

Also, these damn kids should get off my lawn.
I See What I Did There Oct 8th 2011 5:33AM
I can't not upvote any "get off my lawn" quote. I think it's a sickness, a sickness that comes with old age.

I've been doing this for years, and I still don't have it. Whenever I'm in Westfall my guild makes fun of me because they don't think it's a real thing.
Eddy Oct 7th 2011 8:33PM
If you've been doing it for years, surely, it should have worked by now, or you have the worst RNG luck I've ever heard of.
incoming00 Oct 7th 2011 8:47PM
it could be possible that you are missing it because you are pushing your macro way to many times and it just passes by. you can still /cluck at the chicken even if it offers the quest. just do them in small burst, like 4 or 5 at a time, and surely the chicken will get hungry and deman you feed it...
Ez Oct 7th 2011 9:37PM
Just buy the feed from the farmer. then make a macro [/chicken] and focus on one of the chickens, spam the macro until the focus on it turns green. Click on the chicken, do the quest and pick up your egg. It will be on the ground near the chicken. That is probably what you are missing.
vegetto375 Oct 7th 2011 8:46PM
Ever since a friend showed me this I was like Holy shit!
I get the chicken with every Alliance alt I make, but i think the only 2 horde that have it are my undead warrior, (post cataclysm made) and my blood elf hunter (former night elf hunter).
Amaxe Oct 7th 2011 8:48PM
I recall there used to be addons to do the /chicken when you clicked on the critter. Don't know if they still do.
Of course I didn't know the pet was still in the game.
Linnia Oct 7th 2011 10:17PM
I ended up making a macro the first time I did this. Spamming guild chat with "chicken" because I forgot the slash command was very unpopular, the macro made my guildies happy again.
Pemberton Oct 7th 2011 8:50PM
I remember doing this for my Troll on a PvP server before the Horde could buy the chicken feed. I had to log my Troll out by the farm, roll an alliance alt on my wife's account (You couldn't have both factions on a PvP server then!), do the quest so the egg appeared on the ground, then log over to my troll to loot it.
Was worth it for the people in Orgrimmar asking me where I got the chicken pet, though!
