For the love of all that is holy, can somebody please tell me how to change my frakking avatar.
I know I have to go to joystiq.com but where am I supposed to change my settings there?
My god, how is this even this difficult?
mem0ryburn Oct 8th 2011 2:25AM
Wow. So. The site said I was logged in but there was literally nowhere to change settings at all so I thought ok, let's try a different browser. A straight up IE with no addons. I try to log in and nope, wrong password. Really? Huh, could have sworn. Try one other possibility. No? Serious? Try each of those a couple more times and no dice. Ok, ugh, let's do the password reset. Click, put in email addy, confirmation that a link to change my password has been sent. Check email, open msg: "Sorry, but password recovery is no longer available throught this interface. It has been moved to http://www.joystiq.com/reset/"... Seriously. Why didn't they just... ARGH. Ok, go to new link, click again, put in email addy again, confirmation that a link to change my password has been sent. Password change successful this time. Good. Go to sign in with new password and NOPE, WRONG PASSWORD.
WoWInsider I fucking love you but your parent site is the most unintuitive piece of fucking shit I've ever had to naviga--no, wait, the most unintuitive piece of fucking shit I've ever had to ATTEMPT to navigate, because I still have yet to actually navigate the gorram thing.

And guess what. This site accepts the same password I've used all along. The password I used on my first attempt on joystiq that it didn't accept. Oh. My. God.

Whoa there buddy! Woosaa! Woosaa! Rub your earlobes. There we go.. take nice deep breaths.
Here we go: Focus.
Return to the Joystiq main site. (I usually just click the Joystiq link at the top of WowInsider)
Sign in at the Joystiq site. Now that you're all signed in... click your name at the top right of the page. You'll see your name in the middle of the page now and three links below...
Click "Edit Picture"
Click "Choose File"
Find the file on your computer and click "open"
Now click "Upload!"
May take 5 minutes or more to be reflected on posts

I wanted it to work this time. I wanted to tell you "gee, what the heck have I been doing all this time?"
No go.
I click my name and it's the same list of my posts I get every time. Nothing about any sort of settings anywhere.
I appreciate you trying though.

There are countless comments sections of frustrated people with the same issue on this board too, it's far from an isolated problem :(

Also, I enjoyed the Bad Boys 2 reference :)

I can not wrap my head around this.
I spent a year and a half troubleshooting internet issues for a major ISP over the telephone and I promise you I was good at it. I can't recall there being an issue I couldn't resolve once I'd learned the ins and outs.
I'm not saying I'm infallible but for the most part I do know what I'm doing, though I'm sure this does not appear to be the case from where anybody for whom it's working is sitting.
mem0ryburn Oct 8th 2011 6:34PM
Not to call anybody out here, especially somebody who's trying to help, but why are the only replies from people who have the default av? :/

VioletArrows Oct 8th 2011 7:48PM
I'm honestly not sure how to help. I changed mine well over a year ago at Joystiq when they did their big revamp and it went off without a hitch. I've never tried to change it again, and I'm pretty sure with my luck it wouldn't cooperate anyway. As it is, I'll randomly get switched over to my old address and start getting the confirmation emails to post again. Then it disappears as quickly as it came. :/

I live like 20 minutes away but I always dread Blizzcon is like TRADE chat but in 3D. =P

As if most of those trolls have the balls to be that stupid in person
Al Oct 8th 2011 4:40PM
I don't think being stupid is a choice for them.
mem0ryburn Oct 8th 2011 6:10PM
I promise you, they're much quieter and only that irritating in circles in which they know they're not going to get a knock in the eye. They're still stupid, it's just not the problem of as many people.
There are few trolls that understand that a good troll should be clever, and even fewer that actually are. So few in fact their existence has yet to be confirmed.
mem0ryburn Oct 8th 2011 6:40PM
This is such a petty thing to have gotten so frustrating.
