The Queue: Late '90s nostalgia trip
Your regularly scheduled Mike Sacco has been postponed due to rain. Enjoy whatever this is instead.
Fantastik asked:
So what is the WoWInsider crew's best guess as to when they think 4.3 is coming out?
My personal guess is late November or early December. My guess may change as the PTR progresses.
Titusx asked:
Why is tier 2.5 so ugly?
You can argue that one tier is better looking than other or that it fits a certain race better than other for each class. But when it comes to picking the worst looking tier, 2.5 is the worse looking tier across the board. The textures are odd, the palette is way to bright and the overall theme of that tier seems to be "sea shells on lsd". Why is that?
Tier 2.5 tried to make armor out of bugs. Bugs are disgusting, ergo ...
Seriously, though, take the theme of bugs and try to apply it to each class in the game. How do you make an insectoid paladin? How do you make an insectoid warrior? It was an experiment in thematic design that went a little wonky. It wasn't a big deal, though. Tier 2.5 wasn't a real tier; it wasn't a necessary part of progression. It's raid content that went alongside other things. Your tier 2 and tier 3 were the good stuff, and tier 2.5 was this strange, experimental, in-betweeny thing you could use to fill gaps in your other gear.
What Blizzard should have done was give us Big Bad Beetleborg costumes. That would've owned. (Fun fact: Power Rangers reused the defunct Beetleborg suits as villains in the infamous Forever Red episode of Power Rangers Wild Force.)
Phoenix asked:
WoW Insider streamed two of the new dungeons on the PTR, End Time and Hour of Twilight. Which is your favorite so far?
End Time is an enjoyable jaunt, and I will happily run it over and over again. Hour of Twilight is a huge headache. I did not think it was possible to make Thrall a more irritating companion than he was in Escape from Durnholde, but Blizzard pulled it off. I hate him. I really, truly hate him.
Running down a plain, snowy pathway in Hour of Twilight doesn't feel very good, either. Especially after the wholly different, post-apocalyptic view of the exact same zone that we get in End Time. It's like ... End Time is a delicious chocolate cake, right? Hour of Twilight is that same cake, except someone scraped all of the frosting off. And your green-skinned friend runs up and throws it on the ground before you can eat any of it.
This is the PTR, though. They can still make Thrall not-a-pain-in-the-ass. We don't know how close they are to finished with these instances at all, so don't take my opinion as any sort of solid condemnation.
End Time is where it's at.

"Does he have some sort of secret redeeming feature I don't know about?"
Ten bucks and five shots says you do... You just don't want anyone knowing about that cold and not so lonely night in the Barrens.
But don't think you're special, he's EVERYONE'S big spoon.

@Noyou
Aww, see what you've done to me now?

If these authors as some people point out, are bad because they dont know how to write, construct sentences like some of you said. then isnt the publisher/editor bad for not spotting out these mistakes?
If you're one of the critics of their writing can you show me your collection of novels you have written so i can get an idea of how the perfect masterpiece is?
Luke Oct 9th 2011 2:49AM
Oh johnny.ramos1 if only I could afford to send you to college...
Just because something has been published (in this case a book), produced (as in the case of cinema and television), or recorded (when speaking of music) doesn't mean it's of quality or substance. You're familiar with Brittany Spears, certainly...
To answer your question. Yes, part of the responsibility rests on the shoulders of the editor, but only part of it. They have bosses, deadlines and imperfections too.
Per your request, I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
But in all seriousness you have to know this is an invalid argument. The critique of the Warcraft novels and their authors earlier in this thread is opinion, substantiated by comparison of those works to other authors who work in similar genres.
One need not be a published author to recognize bad writing, much like you don't have to be from Durotar to spot a Troll.

"you don't have to be from Durotar to spot a Troll."
This is my new favorite phrase.
Noyou Oct 9th 2011 10:22AM
No you don't need to be a published writer to spot bad writing. But I see johnny's point. There are a lot of no talent critics out there. Whether it be literature, music or cooking. It's easy to sift through something and point out flaws. It's hard to make something out of nothing, make it entertaining or tasty (in cooking) and make money from it. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Not everyone wants to read something that is technically sound, just like not everyone wants to eat french cuisine. That's what make us so interesting as people. I do love the quote to by the way-
"You don't have to be from Durotar to spot a troll", That is Queue gold.

I have the Raid Checklist add-on. Every raid I've been in lately has coverage for everything except "+30% Bleed Dmg Taken". On my hunter, should I get a pet that provides this (Rhino, Boar or Hyena)? Is it worth it? The spell has no comments on wowhead and is noticeably lacking info. Thanks.
VioletArrows Oct 9th 2011 12:52AM
Do you go into raids with a lot of warriors, kitties, and rogues? Those are the only three classes who I could think would like that buff, and I'm not even sure on the warriors (never played one past lvl 5, but I get hit with some kind of bleed a lot). Also, rhinos are not well liked. They throw their targets all around the screen unless you specifically turn that spell off, and they're an even bigger screen block than Devilsaurs.

Late night (or early morning) Q4tQ: is the new wow book a part of the lore of the game 100% like Twilight of the Aspects is?
Jac Oct 9th 2011 8:40AM
Are they going to bring back that dark iron drink that turns you into a dark iron? I used to use my remote just for that.
