Two Bosses Enter: Foe Reaper 5000 vs. Lord Godfrey

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, alts of all levels -- welcome to the Two Bosses Enter final rounds. It has been a tournament of ups and downs, crazy victories, and surprising results. There are only two matches left to determine who will face off in the final matchup to be this season's big winner. Now, a mechanical menace tries his luck against a gun-toting maniac. Who will win in a fight of deranged machine versus angry undead?
Zul'Gurub won out against Zul'Aman, as Zanzil easily trounced Jan'alai in last week's matchup. Zanzil has been a favorite for the entire tournament and has the highest potential to beat out everyone's favorite pantsless supervillain, Vanessa VanCleef. The finals have begun!

The rules of the ring
- The WoW Insider Ring is considered neutral territory, where both combatants are able to access their usual encounter mechanics and abilities. If you can't visualize it inside the squared circle, visualize it someplace else -- but you must take into consideration all of each bosses' abilities and mechanics.
- Assume that each opponent is intelligent and capable of strategic thinking.
- All of the competitors' abilities, including crowd control and other effects to which bosses are usually immune, work on their opponents (with apologies to considerations of lore on this point).
- Assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools, and comparative overall damage output.
- Don't get caught up in gameplay mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter.
- Don't neglect style, story, and scale. Everything is a factor; seeking balance is your goal as a spectator and judge.

Foe Reaper's victory over High Priestess Azil was close, but not close enough, as the robo-reaper spun and sliced his way into a final spot in the tournament. His tenacity and unrelenting abilities have been the cornerstone of his victories in the Two Bosses Enter tournament, and fans love his quirky voice and presence in The Deadmines, a new favorite instance among many players in Cataclysm. (You know, sans all that nasty trash.) Foe Reaper has garnered a bit of a following, and people love to see this mechanical misfit clank his way to victory.
The Foe Reaper's arsenal includes ... Beep beep boop beep robot attack.

Lord Godfrey was up against underdog (get it) Setesh in his matchup a few weeks back, besting the Halls of Origination boss by a scant 500 votes. Scant is relative, obviously, but I had honestly expected Lord Godfrey's overwhelming win instead of only 59% of the vote. Guns and cool hats apparently go a long way with our readers.
Godfrey's abilities include:

Zanzil has become something of a front runner in this championship, besting his opponents with big numbers. Many commenters believe that this crafty troll will be able to best Vanessa VanCleef, considering both have an affinity for poisons and cauldrons, and both have broad fan bases. Looks like Zanzil is the competitor to watch as we head into the final matches of the tournament.
The audience believes that Zanzil just might be the contender to knock Vanessa off her throne as pantless champion of the tournament. Amaxe and Bellajtok share these sympathies:
Well, Zanzil seems popular so far. maybe he'll be the one to throw Vanessa out on her ear.Eaterofbirds is thinking with his heart:
Oh please. Oh please oh please oh please please please please. His awesome insanity might just give him enough popularity to cancel out her extreme popularity.
im trying to do it fairly and consider the boss mechanics etc, but i just love Zanzil ^ ^ watch out Vanessa...Edymnion gives this fight to the Zanzil, relying on Zanzil's positional abilities and the fact that Jan'alai would have to move through Zanzil Fire in order to get to the cauldrons. Interesting idea.
Zanzil all the way. Jan's hatchers never participate in the fight, they only move to hatch dragonhawks, and the dragonhawks are not sentient so they couldn't fly over and use the cauldrons. That means all Zanzil has to do to clear out any opposition is to simply flood the area with poison gas. Unlike Jan's bombs, there is no safe place to stand in the gas field, so Jan's adds go down real quick. And all Zanzil has to do is lay down a zanzil fire between Jan and the cauldrons, and Jan has no choice but to either walk through the fire intentionally and take massive damage, or try to run around the long way and let the poison take effect. Same with the beserkers and the zombies. The next few weeks are going to be exciting on Two Bosses Enter. These last few matches will determine the winners of this season and set the stage for the epic final encounter. As for now, Foe Reaper is coming online and Lord Godfrey is reloading his revolvers. Who will come out on top?
I think Jan'alai is going down pretty easily.

The battle begins!
Remember, Two Bosses Enter matchups are all about substance and style, not gameplay, mechanics, and numbers. Don't base your strategies on player tactics, which opponent has been easiest or most difficult for you personally, or the difficulty of each opponent relative to instance progression. Vote for the spirit of the battle as set forth above. Set aside differences in opponents' health pools, game level, and actual damage output. Absolutely no game mechanics nitpicking!

How can ANYTHING hope to contend with the awesomeness that is the Foe Reaper? What, is one of Godfrey's stupid zombies gonna climb in a bot to tank the Foe Reaper's adds? Expect a Godfrey harvest within about 15 seconds.

I don't see the slag listed w the rest of the Foe Reaper's abilities..

I'm going to call it now: the finals are going to be a vanilla-heroic explosion!
Vanessa Van Cleef versus Lord Godfrey! Which of the two nostalgia trips is more popular?
Find out... in TWO WEEKS!

Godfrey's pretty sweet, but I'm going with the Foe Reaper. Firstly, unless Godfrey himself piloted the Prototype, there'd be a swarm of elementals burning the hell outta him, because I highly doubt ghouls can operate machinery of that calibre. Disregarding the slag, the Reaper could just mow down and ghouls with it's Harvest. Godfrey could avoid most of the Reaper's nasty things and put the hurt on it with Pistol Barrage, but I think he'll be overwhelmed by the slag.
Bellajtok Oct 10th 2011 4:43PM
I'm torn. On the one hand, I enjoy seeing fire and lava burn undead flesh, and on the other, guns and hats. In the end, I went with Foe Reaper because I feel his defeat needs allies more than Godfrey's does.

Godfrey might be big and bad, indeed, a refined and better class of villain. But he's run into a fatal flaw: He brought a handgun to a giant-robot fight. Sure he has fancy cursed bullets, but unless he scores a lucky hit on the unknown soul hiding in that behemoth of SCIENCE, it won't stop him from being harvested.

I would love to see Godfrey versus Zanzil cause I think that match up would be awesome...Unfortunately, I dont see Godfrey winning a fight with Foe Reaper. So, throwing out all favoritism, I gotta give my vote to the Mechanical Menace of the Deadmines.

Godfrey wins for a few reasons. He has style, he has taken on Sylvanas and won, he has already proven he is badass. He lies, he cheats and knows how to pick his fights. He is a true Rogue. And Rogues don't get mad, they get even.

Foe Reaper all the way. I want to see Vaness get mauled by her own mechanical monstrosity!
vegetto375 Oct 10th 2011 8:19PM
Well It looks like this one goes to the Foe Reaper (whom I personally ddin't see it going pass High Priestess Azil), if you think fairly on the boss mechanics the adds from the foe reaper will overwhelm Lord Godfrey.
However this would toeunament has been about favoritism and the last four only made it here cuase of it. Who will win this Ms./Mr. WoW boss contest only the tallied votes hold that answer.

Godfrey entered the arena, and gazed upon a Forge, a Prototype Reaper, and the Foe Reaper 2000, set up so that the Forge was directly behind the Foe Reaper 2000.
Before Godfrey could speak, The Foe Reaper jerked upright, with its two mechanical eyes glowing red as it says “FOE REAPER 2000 ONLINE. ALL SYSTEMS NOMINAL.” A stray spark shot off of Foe Reaper 2000 however, and struck the Forge, causing its contents to heat up and boil.
The Foe Reaper immediately began a sweep of the room, looking for any organic being it could harvest, when it spotted Godfrey. Its servos activate as it rushes to Godfrey’s position. However, Godfrey was already on the move, and began strafing the Foe Reaper 2000 with pistol shots as he ran. With every lunge, the Foe Reaper 2000 would stop, turn until it could acquire Godfrey, and charge; but each time, Godfrey would just side-step, or roll, or dodge the attacks.
After approximately 30 seconds of this, the Forge started to bubble up with molten slag, producing a Fire Elemental. Godfrey attempted to shoot it, but his bullets just went right through, without even causing a reaction from the elemental. Knowing that if he stood still long enough to summon his ghouls, the Foe Reaper would shred him, he decided to just kite both the elemental and Foe Reaper. Luckily for him though (or unluckily, your choice) the Foe Reaper 2000 started to activate his Overdrive engine. Godfrey knew that with Foe Reaper bouncing all over the arena, kiting would be impossible, so he took the opportunity to summon up some ghouls for a distraction, and sent some Cursed Bullets Foe Reaper’s way.
By this point, Godfrey has not been touched yet, while Foe Reaper is sporting a very hole-y exterior. As Foe Reaper’s Overdrive engines wound down, Godfrey found himself in the perfect position to let loose a Pistol Barrage, which severely damaged Foe Reaper 2000’s exterior, and took out one of Foe Reaper’s eyes.
“TARGETTING SYSTEM DAMAGED. MAIN SERVO ENGINES DAMAGED. SAFETY RESTRICTIONS OFF-LINE.” Now, Foe Reaper 2000 began moving at about double speed, making it much harder for Godfrey to dodge its attacks. Not to mention that the Fire Elemental had now finished off all of Godfrey’s ghouls. So Godfrey decided to take a chance, and manoeuvred himself between Foe Reaper 2000 and the Forge. Then, as the Foe Reaper would up for another charge, Godfrey took aim and shot out Foe Reaper’s last eye.
With that hit, Foe Reaper 2000 stopped moving, swung its body around twice to attempt to remove the obstacle that it thought was blocking its view, and stated “TARGETTING SYSTEM RENDERED INOPERABLE. COMPUTING TARGET’S LAST POSITION. ENGAGING HARVESTING SERVOS.”
…
Godfrey stood casually at the side of the arena as the Foe Reaper charged head-long into the forge, took out the Fire Elemental that stood in the way, fell into the molten slag, and shorted out as he began to melt almost immediately.
“Ok Tirion, when can I fight an actual semi-human being? These machines are too dumb to be a challenge…”
antonyp Oct 11th 2011 7:55AM
Lol that was pretty epic.
Killik Oct 11th 2011 7:56AM
He lithely steps over the wreckage of Foe Reaper 2000, only to be felled by the bludgeoning mechanical arm of a completely undamaged Foe Reaper 5000.
Saf Oct 11th 2011 2:20PM
D'oh... Foe Reaper 5000, not 2000... My bad.
Ok, replace all above mention of 200 with 5000, the fight remains the same...
Serves me right for writing that up in Word without a reference page... -_-
WoWie Zowie Oct 10th 2011 10:33PM
i'm voting godfrey based purely on the fact that he has dual pistols. that is badass
paul.morales91 Oct 10th 2011 11:17PM
Alot of people are saying that Godfrey has no chance because he would be overwhelmed by Foe Reaper 2000's fire elementals. But here's the thing: this is a NEUTRAL arena, meaning that the fight is not in the forge, and therefore, the elementals aren't there. Godfrey, on the other hand, would still have his zombies, though they wouldn't really do much good against the Foe Reaper 2000's overdrive engine. When all is said and done, the winner has to be Godfrey. He is by far the most devious and clever characters in the game, more so than Sylvanas, and is and excellent shot to boot. Foe reaper, on the other hand, is not. I didnt stand by Godfrey last time, but this is just no contest.
paul.morales91 Oct 10th 2011 11:18PM
sorry, when I said 2000, i meant 5000
kitterz Oct 11th 2011 1:43AM
"both combatants are able to access their usual encounter mechanics and abilities"
I interpret this as the reaper does have access to the slag adds.
preeska_2 Oct 11th 2011 2:33AM
I agree on the devious and clever characters.
For me? Not more than five seconds, with or without fire elementals. Godfrey would just act cool, go behind his opponent and fire right into Foe Reaper's batteries or, destroy completely its CPU, while his ghouls are distracting and getting torn to pieces.
And it would be hilarious as hell to see a robot conducted by a ghoul, like it could have been for the High Priestess... That, or ghouls being torn into pieces so perfectly that some pieces of rotten flesh would block Foe Reaper gearings. Would be stupid too.
I want to see a final between Godfrey and Vanessa, just for the awesome epicness :D
Hurbster Oct 11th 2011 2:58AM
I vote for Godfrey because, lets face it he is the only one with a chance to defeat Vanessa's fan-base.
And hat.
