Well, we were teased about it with this year's
Darkmoon Faire preview, and now we get a taste of what's to come:
replica items. Our friends and cohosts for this year's
WoW Insider party at BlizzCon (which you should totally go to) over at
Wowhead News have found a heap of these items, for both the original Dungeon Set 1 look and the upgraded Dungeon Set 2.
As yet these items seem to be purely cosmetic, offering the look of now-lost sets. There's no sign yet of Tier 3 (original Naxxramas gear) or
BC Season 3 Vengeful PVP gear right now, but who knows? This is certainly a step in the right direction for that happening. I'm pretty excited, let me tell you. While my main warrior has the sets he wants, one of my alts would look fantastic in
Battlegear of Heroism.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

I would love for them to bring back the items that one got from the class quest back in the day.
crworsinger Oct 13th 2011 7:13PM
i hope they don't, tbh. i'm very proud of my rhokdelar, and the fact that i kept it in my bank all these years. kinda loses it's special-ness if you can just get one from the fair
Snuzzle Oct 13th 2011 8:37PM
I agree, I hope those stay special. Those were somthing you actually had to quest for, and were extremely challenging at level. They weren't merely a drop.
I'm a bit biased with my hunter's rhok/lok which I got at-level, but Id be a bit disappointed to see a million hunters with it from the Faire.
Skarn Oct 14th 2011 3:33AM
I'll be honest here: I'd rather not see the Rhok'delar (or Anathema/Benediction) available at the Faire. People needing to delete the armor sets for space I can understand. If you deleted your Rhok though...FOR SHAME. That was only one bank slot! You don't deserve to have it back!
Yeah, I really do think the Rhok should be restricted to only hunters that completed it while it was actually in-game. (Ok, I'd LIKE to restrict it to hunters that did the quest in Vanilla, but there's no way to do that.)

I keep hoping against hope that the new Darkmoon Faire brings with it the ability to buy the t8 token pieces from ulduar.
Skarn Oct 13th 2011 5:20PM
The Darkmoon Faire is not likely to include any items that can still be gotten, except possibly one-time quest reward items. A tier set that is still obtainable from in-game raids? That's not gonna show up at the Faire.
xvkarbear Oct 13th 2011 7:54PM
I disagree with you.
I don't see a real valid reason for Blizzard not to. The content is no longer important. I can see them not making current expansion tiers available, but past ones? Especially since Udular is long and not easily beaten by just a handful of people.
What harm would there be in making the tokens available? Either via the faire or make them purchasable via jp.
I don't think that's going to make it into patch 4.3, and so maybe not the faire.. but I can see them doing it down the line.
I can still hope.

Ulduar 10M can be facerolled by 5 lvl 85's with the gear we currently have, without any raiding experience prior to entering, even some hardmodes. Just find guides for the tactics and get going.

WTB my ship wheel shield back from the quests I recently did for Loremaster and had to delete ( /cry) due to my bank being stuffed full of other crap. Hell, I don't have any bags smaller than 22 slots in my bank and 24 slots on my toon and only have about 20 empty spaces TOTAL.

The specific purpose of the "replica" items at the Faire is to allow players to get looks that can no longer be obtained. That is exactly why they were added. It was not to allow players to get looks EASIER. Could the functionality be expanded? Of course, but that's highly unlikely for the initial implementation.
I recall a blue post a month or two before Transmog was announced. It was just some post in a random thread but it basically said "we've got an idea for giving people reasons to go back to old raids." Their idea is obviously Transmog. It has revived a lot of interest in old raids. They are unlikely to remove this interest by offering replicas at the Faire.
I understand the desire though. :)
Therinor Oct 14th 2011 8:45AM
I do understand that desire too, and to a certain degree I do understand Blizz's point, but... isnt it kinda pointless to go "OK, we will revive those old dungeons by offering transmog, so that 4 lv 85s can faceroll through old endgame content without it being much of a challenge"?
Someone mentioned "not to get looks EASIER"... well, the only challenge I see is to get a group of 2-3 together, and maybe the raid lockouts. I dont really think its a good way to revive interest in the old raids to run through them at max lvl, as it a) isnt very difficult, b) doesnt give you the slightest clue of how much a challenge they used to be and c) doesnt really feel like a success either.
I have been farming for the Kara-mount for a long time, and soloing Attumen, killing him, does not exactly make me feel like I accomplished anything. Its not difficult, the only difficulty is going against the RNG, so when I finally get it at some point, I wont feel like I did this amazingly tough battle and actually earned it, it just meant I took the time to go there once a week and facerolled through it.
I do think it would be nice to get some of those older looks, even the ones still available, through DMF as well. Not as freebies or for a low amount of gold... I dunno, put in some currency you need to earn in instances or through dailies or whatever.
Seeing MC for the first time (or seeing it again for the first time) is fun once, facerolling through it with a group of 85s isnt exactly a challenge or much fun or a good representation of those awesome places

Hello, druid dungeon set 1. You're so very beautiful. Yes you are.
Hollow Leviathan Oct 13th 2011 5:12PM
I guess Blizz can do what they want, but at least some of those replica gear items don't seem to have the stats that were supposedly required for transmogging.
Amaxe Oct 13th 2011 5:16PM
I noticed that as well. I wonder if token stats will be added or if they'll change it so to be Green or better required
loop_not_defined Oct 13th 2011 5:19PM
I believe the most recent Transmogrification clarification Blizzard posted stated the items would have to be Green or up, and made no mention of stats.
Rhyndo Oct 13th 2011 5:21PM
Following the Disenchanting Azeroth blog, they have confirmed that there are exceptions to the "rules" so far on the PTR (including transmogging some no-stats BC world drops) so they are likely doing some of these on a case by case basis
Marcosius Oct 13th 2011 5:52PM
Armor is also a stat, even though many forget that one.
Skarn Oct 13th 2011 6:12PM
The original announcement suggested that the items would require stats. The actual "official rules" clarified that to "green and up" gear, but that some items would be disqualified. (Such as fish.) So these replicas should transmog just fine without stats, since that is their purpose anyway.
loop_not_defined Oct 13th 2011 6:21PM
Blizzard specified that armor didn't count as a stat shortly after the original Transmog preview. However, this was before the Transmogrification Rules post even later that simply stated the item must be Uncommon, Rare, or Epic, and paid no heed to stats.
Latest set of rules:

Skarn, delete your post IMMEDIATELY. Can't be having people showing me up, see? Makes me look bad, SEE? Yeah. Hmph.
Now imagine me pulling my pants up to my chest and storming out the door for the full effect.
