The new video from Obsidian Brand and Blue Dragon Productions features the vocal stylings of Sharm. The team was feeling inspired by Portal's theme song, Still Alive, and couldn't help themselves -- they had to convert it over to our beloved WoW.
Still Subscribed is somewhere between a love letter from Blizzard and a deep, lyrical complaint about the state of the game. While I don't necessarily agree with the editorial stance about the developers, the video is incredibly well performed and executed. The music is awesome, of course, but the words manage to maintain the same poetry as the original. Still Subscribed is just very well done.
This is definitely an excellent piece. I hope to see more stuff with this kind of quality, because this was just amazing.

I agree whole heartedly with the lyrics. Exaggerated a bit but yeah. I unsubbed this past month BTW. I can't do it anymore. I feel what the lyrics said on that bit. But the song was cool, the lyrics well sung as always by Sharm. I liked it. It was cute.
Yeah, the video has a bit of hateful parody sting, but I think it almost has to or it would be lukewarm.
I quit a month ago as well, didn't have any friends still left playing, couldn't stand the dailies and lack of actual single or two player content outside of PVP.
Sharms vocals are beautiful, as always - but there should be a warning "Don't watch this while eating or you might choke." I couldn't stop laughing which, while eating a sammich, isn't necessarily a good thing.
I also found it funny that your comment (so far) seems to be one of the few that actually took the moment to see the funny side of it and not (frankly speaking) be butthurt because they some found it insulting, inaccurate or some such.
I'm not too sure if people just haven't listened to the song that it was parodied from or what. The original song is generally dark, witty, and passive aggressive and the creator of the lyrics did a good job of reflecting that into this song.
Even for those who don't know the original and/or just disregard everything above, is it so hard to just stand back and laugh? I'm still subbed to the game (at least until I see what Blizzard has planned at Blizzcon) but I can still take a neutral stand point and be critical enough to know that parts of the song aren't far off from the reality of the game. It might be a tad bit harder for people who may have a stronger bias towards the game and Blizzard and naturally attempt to support it, but please just loosen up and enjoy it.
And this is me biting my tongue after looking at some of the blue rated posts that are borderline aggressive in regards to "people who don't agree with me should shut up and leave"
You can tell at this point who still has their precious horses still left in the race and will defend them to the presses, those who shot their horses dead and curse their names, and those who still have a horse or just gave theirs away with no real ill will. The latter are the only people who can that can look at things the most objectively.
Honestly, to me, it all seemed very tongue-in-cheek, especially when you consider, as Debesun said, it's a parody of a song by a bitter rogue AI that's been trying to kill you in various ways for an entire game.
I think furrama's right, though. Too many people are unable to take a step back and appreciate this song for what it is - humor. It might be funny to think that Blizzard is just intentionally withholding content and recycling things just to cut corners and make more money but once you start taking that stuff seriously, you'll believe any of the conspiracy theories.
So leave. No,wait, lets spend a lot of time making a movie about a game we hate! Yeah! Then people will take time to comment on how much they hate the game too!
WoW evokes a lot of passion; that was by design. People who are passionate about things sometimes don't agree with where that thing is going. And passionate people make their voices heard. No one says you have to listen to it, but for a large portion of fans, this song speaks directly to them on a personal level.
It was well done. Go get some air, bro. Relax and ease up all that tension.
This video is just over 5 minutes, 2.6 of those minutes are spent on intro and credits. Imagine if TV was like that. Nice video I guess, surprised the state of the game was all thrown on blizzard though, and not the feral degenerates who make up an ever growing percentage of the population, and are driving people off regularly.
I hate overy long credits as well. A full minute for an intro is a bit much, in my opinion. Unless you are making some feature-length video, a long, long credit sequence with flashy graphics are just going to turn off some people.

Did anyone else bust out laughing at the ghostcrawler part?
Nynaeve Oct 14th 2011 12:40PM
I certainly did.

So true. I know I for one am still subscribed because of friends i've made within the game otherwise i'd be so out of here.

Agreed. It's a damn shame blizz doesn't give us a way to do player run content ala-SWG.

I love the inspiration song. I can't wait until I get home and I can watch this video.

We must have different ideas of "quality." The vocals were nice, but the lyrics were predictable whining. Disappointed.
