Hello. Garrosh character cannot be defended and or justified because of the contradictions that are repeatedly tossed on him
From the very beginning of Wotlk when we see Garrosh he is intentionally insulting Thrall, the acting Warchief of the Horde.
The same Thrall that gave him the revelation about his father and brought him out of his depression as you stated. When Thrall takes Garrosh under his wing in Orgrimmar Garrosh continues to insult him and challenges him to a fight!
Regardless of said fight he is put in charge of the warsong offensive but continues to insult Thrall AND Saurfang.
In Dalaran he disobeys Thrall and attacks the King of Stormwind! Then he insults Thrall again!
Again during the Tournament.
He is portrayed as brash, arrogant, disrespectful, short tempered, and short sighted all of that expansion. Cata is released and we are given the stonetalon quest where he kills a commander for attacking peaceful settlements and then he speaks of honor? I would have accepted the sudden change if FROM THAT POINT ON we would have seen a new Garrosh. But the many novels, and short stories still show him as the same character.
So as of right now Garrosh is BOTH sympathetic/humble and incongruous/prideful at the exact same time. A contradiction.
