The Queue: Books From Boxes
Not a new song, but one of my favorites circa 2007. The pounding rain continued its bleak fall; we decided just to write after all, after all.
Thatacus asked:
Who posts on WoWInsider's Twitter? Some times, some thing funny gets posted and I want to say it's Fox, but I don't want to inflate his ego anymore than I have to :P
Adam, Alex, Dan, and I all post on the WoW Insider Twitter. I'm generally the one who does non-newsy stuff on there, but it could be any of us at any given time. Fox has, to my knowledge and deep gratitude, never used our official Twitter.
Shrimper asked:
Whatever happened to Heroic Stockades? I vaguely remember playing through it during Beta but can't find much on what actually happened to those plans.
Heroic Stockades was never announced and certainly never playable.
Subtotal asked:
Will we be seeing a return of "Ask a faction leader" at some point?
Some of the answers in those columns were hilarious... Oh yeah and there was some thought provoking stuff in there too or something.
Yes. I'm writing it right now. Well, I mean, not right now, but I was before I was writing The Queue.
Susinko asked:
Do you think there will be more rewards for the Molten Front dailies? I have almost a thousand Marks of the World Tree and don't know what to do with them. It would be nice if we could buy the green Flame Bird that was datamined or those other skins of the Ravenlords that are on fire.
Not with patch 4.3 coming, no. Don't expect any Molten Front updates.
VioletArrows asked:
Is there someone we can report bad WoW Insider ads to? I keep seeing those text ads that say "It made my doctor furious!" "Your car insurance dealer HATES this!" "Follow this one simple tip..." And it's been shown on numerous websites that those ads/websites are all scams.
We have a "Contact Us" link at the top right corner of the site you can use to alert us of that stuff. Try to include a link to the ad in question where possible.
Noyou asked:
91 comments seems to be a record low for the Queue, at least in my viewings of it. Is this so?
Weekend Queues are kind of a crapshoot. I don't think 91 is the lowest one ever, but it's definitely on the lower end (as most Saturday Queues are).

Nothing against indie rock, most of what I listen to isn't touched by a major record label, I'm implying, inferred merely from the above example, that YHBTIM. It's ok though! It's okay to like bad music. Most people can not accept this but if they did they'd be more at peace :)
Kurash Oct 16th 2011 3:11PM
Rock music can certainly be party music too.
Jaygath Oct 16th 2011 3:12PM
Because anyone who listens to said inde rock wouldn't know anything about any other kind of music, duh. All DJs everywhere only listen to party music.
Noyou Oct 16th 2011 4:19PM
Music and sports teams. Everyone thinks theirs is the best. The kicker- you don't have anything to do with either one except choosing to support them. Get over yourselves. It's great to support music that never hits the airwaves, but sad to say, that doesn't make it any better or worse than the stuff that does.

Sacco just can't stop shufflin'. Erryday, he's shufflin'.
mem0ryburn Oct 18th 2011 4:43AM
Uh, Noyou, that's my point. And your dragging sports teams into it only makes it simpler to make my point. Can't people admit things are objective?
For instance, I'm a HUGE Edmonton Oilers fan. If I said "they're the best" I'd be talking out my ass since they finished dead last the last two seasons and are in a rebuilding stage.
Like with music, you can enjoy a band but why can't you admit "yeah I like them but they're not 'good', per se". Maybe they have no technicality, or no heart, or their lyrics are inane by any sane measure, or whatever the hell.
Mozart's bloody brilliant but I'll be damned if I could say I actually, honestly and truly, sans pretension, enjoy him. You can LOVE Nirvana or something but it's still a garble mouthed junkie playing power chords that I learned my first month with a guitar and writing lyrics that are seldom veritably brilliant.
There's no accounting for taste? Yes there is, people are just too uncomfortable or possibly insecure in admitting they might like something that's not very good.

5 days to go! 5 days to go! AAAAHHHHHH!
Am I the only one really, really enjoying the complete lack of information on what may possibly be announced at Blizzcon? I'm relishing it, it's so refreshing!
Shyster Oct 16th 2011 12:20PM
It is kind of refreshing, I'm certainly curious as to what they're going to pull out of the hat this time around *cough cough*pandas*cough wheeze cough* *cough cough*hopefully titan*hack hack wheeze cough*. I should get that checked out.
MusedMoose Oct 16th 2011 12:53PM
I'm definitely excited to see what they tell us. Granted, something panda-based is *probably* a given, but I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to have something really surprising in store. They've got two days to shower us with information and/or awesomeness, so I'm really looking forward to it.
Also: don't anyone forget about the livestream of the WoW Insider meetup!
alyssa G Oct 16th 2011 1:01PM
I can't wait! I already pre-ordered my virtual ticket, so come oct.21 eST 1:30 pm...I will not move from my room
Arrohon Oct 16th 2011 1:41PM
@Shyster
As awesome as that would be, Blizzard has already said that Titan will not be discussed. If it were, Blizzard wouldn't have said anything.
Noyou Oct 16th 2011 4:26PM
Yeah. I am. Except for that little trademark thing. Here's to eating panera in the mists of- no that's not right. Nurse!
Jaq Oct 16th 2011 5:03PM
I'm guessing after what happened with Cata-when MMO-Champ had things as important as Garrosh becoming Warchief and the death of Cairne out there before Blizzcon-Blizzard brought the security hammer down on any expansion info. Which is a plus in my book. I don't mind the occasional sneak peak-hell I'm on the PTR for 4.3 right now-but the way the internet pounces on leaks kind of reminds me of kids trying to find out what they got for Christmas. Sometimes it's nice to be surprised on Christmas Day, I'm just saying.

Q for the Q
Not to beat a dead horse but, Vanilla servers. Don't you think its time for one? Since Cataclysm changed the face of Azeroth forever, now would be a perfect time! I mean, there is obviously demand for it and Blizz could implament it without many problems I would think. Yes they would have to support it, but have it as a extra subscirption option like the moble armory. Pay an additional $5-10 a month to have access to the vanilla server in order to recoup cost or maybe even turn a profit. There are lots of people out there that would gladly pay that. Do you think they will ever give in?
Sleutel Oct 16th 2011 12:38PM
Nope. It's one of those things that *sounds* really easy but would actually be ridiculously complicated to implement. Even if they literally just rolled the code back to what it was before 2.0 (assuming they even have it archived), the number of people who'd be interested in playing on such a server long-term is certain to be vanishingly small.
Drakkenfyre Oct 16th 2011 12:43PM
No.
They have stated over and over again they would never do this. It would require them to spend millions on additional servers and the support, only to support servers which would have limited appeal, and to them is a backwards step for the game.
George Lucas barely even recognizes the existence of the original trilogy in it's original form because to him it's "dead", and the newer versions are closer to what he had in mind. Blizzard sees the game as progressing, and the old versions are no longer relevant. They are not going to strip the game back to vanilla just so a handful of players can play it, get bored, and leave it a month or two later, leaving them with millions of dollars of server hardware and support staff sitting unused.
Half the stuff you think was awesome in vanilla wasn't. The first time someone has to actually spam for a raid (Onyxia) in a city for hours, hoping they find someone who's completed the quest and attuned themselves, they are going to say "!@#$ this", and leave and never come back.
The first time someone gets their ass handed to them because they didn't farm all the Fire resist gear they could from lower level instances, they are going to curse, logoff, and never come back to it.
audawak Oct 16th 2011 1:46PM
Just like they stated over and over again that there would never be race changes, PvP to PvE server transfers, both factions allowed on a single account on PvP servers, etc.
Not that I really think they would do Vanilla servers, but, Blizzard doesn't have a strong track record for sticking to what they said they'd "never" do.
revan238 Oct 16th 2011 1:58PM
Don't know why I had to be down voted. It's a legit question even if it has been asked before. Thanks for the answers.
I used to think the gaming community as a whole were pretty cool people. Yet it seems that most are elitist aholes that think people are "bad" because they don't do heroic modes or god forbid stand in the fire for a millisecond too long and lose 2% health. People need to get over themselves and realize that it's not cool to bash people over the internet. Trying to bully someone over the net because you got it at school does not make you regain your cool points. Just makes you no better than the people you hate.
Brett Porter Oct 16th 2011 2:21PM
You know, I would really, really hate to be the developers whenever they hear someone request this. I mean I would probably die a little bit inside each time.
"You know the last 7 years of constant improvement and changes you've made to the game, Bob? Yeah, screw it, make it like on day 1 and never make any changes to it again."
Kinda sad. :(
